  • CHRISTOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE of the Venerable M. María Antonia
CHRISTOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE Of The Venerable M. María Antonia Paris and Saint Anthony Maria Claret Founders of the Religious of Mary Immaculate Claretian Sisters A BRIEF PRESENTATION OF THE ORIGINAL PAPER Paper submitted by Sister Margarita Gomez, rmi. US Independent Delegation West Palm Beach, Fl. January 5, 2010 1 This paper is a summary presentation of the paper introducing the Christological experience of our founders, the Venerable M. Maria Antonia Paris, and Saint Anthony Maria Claret. This paper was presented at the workshop held in Barcelona on December 28, 2009 till January 6, 2010. It is very important to have from the very beginning an attitude of wonder and reverence in order to be able to have a glimpse into the intimate relationship between Christ and our Founders. We are entering a sacred space, the in depth relationship held between Christ and Mother Maria Antonia and Fr. Claret. Let us allow ourselves to be amazed by the intimacy they had with Christ and how this intimate relationship was an ongoing reality until the time the Lord called them home. I also would like to underline that our Founders did not write any Christological treatise, yet in their autobiographies they opened their hearts letting us know how their lives were centered in Christ, they did it in a very candid way, with honesty and in truth. They lived in Christ to such an extent that they truly could say with Saint Paul: It is not I who lives, it is Christ who lives in me. (Gal. 2:20) The first part of this paper deals with the vocation of Mother Maria Antonia y Fr.

  • 2007 Annual Report a Note About the Cover Artist
The Life Raft Group 2007 Annual Report A note about the cover artist: This picture is one of many stunning pieces of art from the collection of Rachel Gilbert. Rachel is a 21-year-old GIST patient from the United Kingdom. She has been living with GIST for almost seven years. She uses her art to channel beauty into the world to cope with her disease. © 2007 Life Raft Group The Life Raft Group Dear Friends, Since last year’s annual report much has happened. The Life Raft Group (LRG) continues to grow in size and complexity to match the needs of today’s GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor) patient. Our program priority areas remain the same: Research, Information and Support, Patient Outreach and Assistance and Advocacy. However, in 2007, we expanded our capacity through innovative technologies and approaches to reach the evolving GIST community. From a birds-eye view the Life Raft Group is a thriving young organization, its message reaching hundreds of thousands each year to help GIST patients and their loved ones in as many ways as possible. Here on the ground, the LRG is running a race against time, a relentless pursuit of survival. Faced with increasing cases of resistance to first-line treatment, the LRG continues its commitment to finding a cure through its work and funding the Resistance Research Project. GIST is a rare cancer, but the struggle of cancer survivors is not uncommon in our world today. We will continue, with the help of our supporters, medical professionals and volunteers, to ensure that no one has to face GIST alone.

Introduction On October 16, 1793, Marie Antoinette climbed the steps of the scaffold in the Place de la Révolution . “Pardon me, sir, I did not mean to do it,” she said to the executioner, having accidently stepped on his foot. She was then placed in the guillotine and the blade was dropped. Only two and a half weeks before her thirty-eighth birthday, Marie Antoinette fell victim to the French Revolution of 1789 and was executed. Early modern representations of Marie Antoinette, the infamous Queen of France, show a very confused picture. Many depict her as an extravagant spendthrift who showed little concern for the care of her subjects. They focus on her frivolous pursuits including fashion and gambling, and her alleged sexual exploits.

  • Biomedical Applications of Polyelectrolyte Coated Spherical Gold Nanoparticles Melanie A
Fuller and Köper Nano Convergence (2019) 6:11 https://doi.org/10.1186/s40580-019-0183-4 REVIEW Open Access Biomedical applications of polyelectrolyte coated spherical gold nanoparticles Melanie A. Fuller and Ingo Köper* Abstract Surface modifed gold nanoparticles are becoming more and more popular for use in biomaterials due to the pos- sibility for specifc targeting and increased biocompatibility. This review provides a summary of the recent literature surrounding polyelectrolyte coatings on spherical gold nanoparticles and their potential biomedical applications. The synthesis and layer-by layer coating approach are briefy discussed together with common characterisation methods. The potential applications and recent developments in drug delivery, gene therapy, photothermal therapy and imag- ing are summarized as well as the efects on cellular uptake and toxicity. Finally, the future outlook for polyelectrolyte coated gold nanoparticles is explored, focusing on their use in biomedicine. Keywords: Polyelectrolyte, Gold nanoparticles, Nanoparticles, Gold, Biomedical 1 Introduction number of ways including covalent attachment, hydro- Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) can be described as solid gen bonding and electrostatic interactions between layers gold particles with a diameter between 1 and 100 nm, [13, 14]. While there are many ways PEs can be attached and have the potential to be used in a range of bio- to nanoparticles (NPs), this review will focus on the elec- medical applications due to their unique physical and trostatic attachment of PE coatings as they are easy to optical properties [1–4]. Examples of these unique produce and have a range of applications from micro- properties include the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) fuidics to water membrane fltration systems [14, 15].
