INTRODUCTION: Sports occupies a vital role in our lives. It keeps us fit, healthy and makes us active. The secret to having a healthy and positive lifestyle is to have a positive mind and body. Apart from keeping a healthy body and mind, sports also helps us in alerting our senses, keeps us aware and an undaunting personality and outlook on life. Hence, sports has a multi-faceted role in our lives. MY FAVORITE SPORT: MALLAKHAMB- Mallakhamb is a traditional sport, originating from the Indian subcontinent, in which a gymnast performs aerial yoga or gymnastic postures and wrestling grips in concert with a vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole, cane, or rope. The name Mallakhamb derives from the terms malla, meaning wrestler, and khamb, which means a pole. Literally meaning "wrestling pole", the term refers to a traditional training implement used by wrestlers. On April 9, 2013, the Indian state of declared Mallakhamba the state sport. As of 2017, more than 20 other states in have followed suit. TYPES OF APPARATUS USED IN MALLAKHAMB: 1. WOODEN POLE- The pole is usually made from sheesham (Indian rosewood) polished with castor oil.Three popular

versions of Mallakhamb are practiced using a sheesham pole, cane, or rope.

2. ROPE- Rope Mallakhamb is an answer to the modern day problems like space and transportation. Various Yogic and Gymnastic positions are performed gracefully o n the rope Mallakhamb and that to without tying literal knots to the rope.

3. SILK- Aerial silks is a special air athletics equipment which consists of a hanging cloth fixed at a height and with freely falling ends.

4. POLE- Pole sports, or poling, merges dance and acrobatics using a vertical metal pole. Athletes climb up, spin from, hang off, flip onto, jump off, and invert on poles. Poling requires agility, strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility. A 2017 study of 52 female pole dancers indicated that pole-dance fitness improves strength and posture. Poling can serve as a form of cardiorespiratory exercise, and improve muscle strength and flexibility.Pole-sports athletes include men and women of a variety of ages and physical abilities, including para-athletes, etc.

5. AERIAL HOOP RING- The aerial hoop is a circular steel apparatus suspended from the ceiling, on which circus artists

may perform aerial acrobatics. It can be used static, spinning, or swinging. Tricks that can be performed include the Candlestick, Bird's Nest and Crescent Moon.

CONCLUSION: Compare to acrobatic or circus performances in Air Athletics athletes perform at a height of 5-7 meters, and as insurance sports mats are used, and the requirements for sports costume are regulated. Competitive Mallakhamb at the national level first made its appearance in 1958 at the National Championships (NGCs) held at the Pahadganj Stadium, , India. The Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) proposed to recognize the game and include it in subsequent NGCs. The first National Mallakhamb Championships were held in 1962 at , Madhya Pradesh, as part of the NGCs. Around 1968, the game was introduced in the All-India Inter-University Gymnastics Championships. The National Mallakhamb Championships were organized annually by the GFI until 1976. In 1977, these Mallakhamb Championships were removed from the GFI, and no major championship games were held until 1980.
