After lunch, join your classmates for a golf outing starting at 1:15 pm. at our Academy Golf Course. Everyone is welcome to play – spouses, family members and guests. Please indicate your participation plans on the registration form. This is important as the event leaders will need to coordinate with participants prior to the weekend. Other activities offered from 3:00—5:00 p.m: Campus tours will be available. Troopers and others with riding experience may want to participate in a trail ride with other classmates and guests still nimble enough to handle a horse. Members of the ’67 Crew, and anyone with rowing experience, may gather at the White-DeVries Rowing Center at 3:30 pm. The usual activity is a row on Thursday afternoon about 3:30 p.m. with the 50 year group. Come on down and enjoy the scene. This is a magnificent facility that was dedicated in October 2012. If any of our classmates have an interest in skeet and trap, Ed Little from the school will be on hand to host and facilitate anyone who would like to partake. This is another unique facility that has been upgraded and is situated on the far northern edge of campus. Note: Spouses and guests are welcome at ALL activities. You also may attend classes, the schedule for which will be available at registration. We think you will find the modern Culver classroom facilities stunning and the teaching methods inspiring if you have not been back to Culver recently. Thursday’s reception and dinner at 7:00p.m. will be our official kickoff event. This will take place in the White DeVries Rowing Center. The dress is casual and comfortable. Friday, May 19: Enjoy breakfast with our class at Café Max, a popular downtown Culver eatery. The walls are adorned with historic photos of the school and the Town of Culver. Afterwards, you are encouraged to visit the Academies newly-opened museum across the street. We will hold a class meeting at 10:30 am in the Eppley Auditorium, Eilleen Dicke Theatre (located in the lower level of Eppley) with Jim Power, Head of Schools, two CMA cadets, and two CGA students. The students do not hold back and you’ll be the first 50th reunion class to meet with Jim Power. Don’t miss it! This will be followed by a luncheon in the Legion Memorial Building, Heritage Room. Dress to this point is casual. We will reconvene as a class in Eppley Auditorium for a Culver Legion hosted presentation featuring the State of the School from Jim Power and the annual presentation of the Graduate of the Year. PAGE 3 We will form for the Iron Gate Re-creation Ceremony at 2:45 pm under the direction of CMA military staff and first classmen from the Corps. Attire for the Iron Gate Ceremony will be our class uniform: khaki pants, navy blazers, class polo shirt, dark shoes, and class hat. The polo shirt and hat will be given to you when you register on campus. Our class will form on the steps of the Memorial Chapel at 4:15 p.m. for the class picture immediately before the Memorial Service for our deceased classmates held in the Chapel at 4:45 p.m. At 6:30 pm, Culver requests our presence at the “ONE Culver” Reunion 2017 Celebration Reception and Dinner. Our class along with all of the reunion classes from 1942-2012 will gather with members of Culver’s administration, faculty, and retired faculty to celebrate Reunion 2017. Attire is dressy casual. Immediately after the ONE Culver plan to stay and enjoy music and dancing. Saturday, May 20: The Class of 1967 Luncheon and Yard party will be held at The Story Farm, 16773 13th Rd, Plymouth from noon to 3:00 p.m. The Alumni Parade steps off at 5:30 pm, followed immediately thereafter by the Garrison Parade, followed immediately thereafter by our class dinner from 7:00—10:00 pm at the Huffington Library. The class uniform will be worn for the parade. You may have noted in the paragraph above mention of two parades. As one of the weekend’s honored groups, along with the 25th and Old Guard classes, we have been invited by the school to Pass In Review prior to the Corps of Cadets’ weekly garrison parade. Sunday, May 21: Begins with a class Farewell Breakfast in the White-DeVries Rowing Center where casual attire is welcome. Catholic Services will be held in the Memorial Chapel at 9:00 a.m. The Protestant Chapel Services start at 10:30 a.m. The Honor Guard, Four-Gun Drill, Lancer Band, CGA Drill Team, CGA Equestriennes and Lancer Platoon perform at 12:15 p.m. at the Riding Hall. Lunch is available at the Mess Hall which completes our reunion schedule. What else should I know?? Culver observes Eastern Daylight Time (New York time). The speed limit in the town of Culver is 20 mph, and is strictly enforced during major campus events such as Reunion Weekend. The posted limits on rural roads surrounding the campus are higher, but vary with the presence of children. Please observe speed limits carefully. To alleviate the parking problems, the Academy runs a very convenient shuttle service throughout the weekend, which emanates from the two big parking areas we should use the field north of Memorial Chapel and the (former) motel parking lot. PAGE 4 UNIFORM, SIRS AND LADIES! There will be no squad leaders to send you back to your room if your shoes aren't shined. Nevertheless, you will want to be aware of the appropriate dress for the various gatherings during Reunion Weekend. Our 50th Class Reunion uniform should consist of khaki trousers, blue blazer (Navy is preferable), class polo shirt, dark shoes, class hat and Culver’s 50th Reunion medallion. The class polo shirt, class hat, and the reunion medallion will all be given to you upon arrival at registration. We will wear our class uniform for the Iron Gate Ceremony, our class photo, and, of course, the Garrison Parade. Spouses and guests should dress accordingly for these occasions. We have requested perfect climate, but May weather in Culver is uncertain, as you may recall. It may be hot or chilly. Pack a jacket and an umbrella. In the event of rain, outdoor events will be moved inside, but you will still have to get from place to place. Flat shoes for ladies are a must, since some events are on grass and soft ground. If you plan to go horseback riding, riding attire and appropriate riding boots/shoes are a must. SPECIAL REQUESTS – TRANSPORTATION AND DIETARY In our last newsletter, we reminded you that the school strives to anticipate all possible needs, but it is still a campus built for teenagers. If you need special assistance, please advise the Alumni Office in advance, so they can help as much as practical. In addition, please let the Alumni Office know of any dietary restrictions they should accommodate. Most of you have done this via your registration forms. We look forward to seeing you in May! .
