SATURDAY 16 JUNE 2018 WELCOME This year’s Piano Day focuses on the art of American pianist , celebrating repertoire that he has performed and recorded over a career that has spanned more than 40 years. Our day starts with a recital featuring works by Beethoven, Chopin and Schubert. In the afternoon we get to witness piano poetry in the form of Chopin Impromptus and Ballades, a selection of Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words, and Schumann’s energetic and lyrical masterpieces, his Fantasie and Symphonic Etudes. Our evening recital brings together tutors from the School of Keyboard Studies in a concert of works for two pianos and piano duet, a medium that Perahia enjoys with his partner Radu Lupu.
