During the day, we hope that you as a student will have the opportunity to network and make valuable contacts for the future, hold interesting conversations with potential employers or just participate to get inspiration for future experiences! This catalog presents information about the companies that take part of the event, tips for your visit and valuable information for future job applications. We would like to extend a big thank you to this year’s sponsors and partners: Accenture, Cygni, HerbertNathan & Co, Innofactor, Pensionsmyndigheten, Scania and Sopra Steria. I also want to thank all the students who got involved in this year’s Systemvetardag. This year has been a challenge to say the least, but with the help of all our ambitious and committed students, this year’s event will be as rewarding as ever! We in the project group wish you a warm welcome to this year’s Systemvetardag! We hope the day can contribute with inspiration and motivation. Ronja Tägtström, Project manager for Systemvetardagen 2021 4 Ronja Tägtström - Year 2 What does the role as a project leader entail? The project leader has the ultimate responsibility for driving the project forward. You support and coach group leaders, and is responsible for making sure the project moves forward as planned. You are involved in everything from planning and goal-setting, the event’s implementation and the follow-up. How come you applied for the role of project leader? Challenges are what drives me, and I thought it sounded like a great opportunity to gather important experiences for the future. What have you learned in the role of project manager? A lot! I especially think about the importance of being flexible and being able to act quickly in changing circumstances. This year has been special to say the least, and we have faced many challenges. Do you have any recommendations for those who would like to apply for the role of project manager for next year? If you think it sounds exciting, go for it! You will accumulate many rewarding experiences and you will have a lot of fun along the way. What is the best thing about being a project manager? To see something grow from the planning phase to the execution phase. You get to take part in all phases of a project and gain insight into many different and exciting parts of it. But the best thing has definitely been to be welded together with such ambitious and driven people! How active in NÄRS were you before you became a project manager? Not at all actually, which I regret today. If I had known how fun it is to get involved in NärS and what fantastic experiences it brings, I would have been active right from the start! What is the most important thing to think about as a project manager? The importance of fast and open communication. This year, flexibility has also played a major role in our project. One trait that I found important in the role is coordination, as there is a lot to keep track of at the same time. It is important to have a good overview. What does it take to become a project manager? Good communication and the ability to see the big picture. It is important to have a good over- view of the entire project and see how all the details are connected. Is it fun to be a project manager? Oh yes! It is so much fun! 5 How to use the catalogue Introduction The introduction pages are created to give you an insight in how you can benefit the most from this fair. On page 7 there are suggestions for how to act depending on if it is your first year, second or last year on your education, and on page 8-10 you can read about previous students who got a job via Systemvetardagen and their experience on how you will get hired via the event. Company pages Here you find information about all the companies who participate in the event. On every company page you will see which type of education the different companies have an interest in. These programs are marked in yellow on each company page, so make sure you check which ones that have marked your education. Below is an explanation of which education the different symbols on the company pages represent. Enterprise Systems & Business & IT Service Design ERP EIT Digital Media Interactiondesign DM ID Computer & System Marketing Communication Science & IT DSV MIT Computer Game Master & Development Ph. D programs DSU MASTER Computer Science DV 6 Tips for every grade Systemvetardagen offers possibilities for all students, regardless if you are studying a bachelor- or master’s degree. Make sure to use the tips below to optimize your chances when the day is here! First year It is useful to already start to mingle with company representatives. How do you want to present yourself, and what values are important for you in your dream company? Is there any course you can read next year to optimize your chances when it’s time to get a job? Second year Many of the companies at Systemvetardagen offer degree essay topics, which can then later lead to good possibilities for an employment. That’s why it is useful to look up companies that suit you and the topic you would like to write and show them your interest. Third year or master If you are on your last year of a bachelor- or master’s degree it is important to come prepared. Examine the companies that are visiting the fair and choose some topics to focus on. Decide what you are looking for and what you want and prepare some questions to ask the companies. Systemvetardagen is an excellent opportunity to not just show who you are, but also an opportunity to ask important questions for you to be able to know which companies that suit you. 7 We got a job through SvD Ann Cheng Consultant in Risk Advisory Deloitte How did you get the job? I had an interview with Deloitte during Systemvetardagen. Then, when the application for Risk Advisory was available, I applied. How to get the most out of Systemvetardagen? Come prepared! Check out which companies will be exhibiting and read up on them so that you can ask questions later when you get the chance. Think before- hand what you are looking for so that you can ask such questions. For example, are you looking for a full-time job, an internship, or something for your thesis work? Which areas interest you and do the companies have it? Questions that are important to you when choosing an employer? Or simply questions if you are interested in knowing a little more about the company. What did you do to get further contact with the companies? I kept in touch via LinkedIn with company representatives from the event, and then I also kept track of the website with job advertisements. It was through the website that I applied for the job. Is there something you would have done differently now in retrospect? Maybe I would have come to the event a little earlier, as you may need more time than you think. It’s better to have time left over, than to not have time to talk to all the companies you want. Especially if you have interviews during the day as well. What questions do you think are important to ask a potential future employer? I think it is important to ask questions that are important to you and that can play a role in choosing an employer. It is important that you also get to know the companies to determine if it is something for you. For me, it was important that the company offers a lot of skills development, so that I could develop in the field of information security, and the corporate culture. That’s why I asked such questions to companies - if they offers it, and how they work with it. 8 Fredrik Nyblom System Developer Sopra Steria How did you get the job? I applied for many interviews. I searched both for companies that were specifically looking for someone with my education, and also companies that did not. I got some interviews and chose to participate in them all. I got in good contact with one of the recruiters, and we kept in touch after the event. I got to go to interviews, write tests and finally I received a job offer, which I gladly accepted. How to get the most out of Systemvetardagen? I would say that good preparation is highly recommended. Find out which companies you are interested in and invest the most in them.
