THE FIRST STEP In Spring 2009, the “EU-Lobbying“ team from the NRW Inno- vation Alliance, comprising representatives from ten universi- ties, conducted an inquiry at all universities in North Rhine- Westphalia asking for research projects dealing with various aspects of “The Ageing Society“. GUIDELINES ■ Focus on excellent research projects, e.g. collaborative research centres and priority programmes funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG, Deutsche Forschungs- gemeinschaft), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the European Union, companies etc.. Not just basic research, but also applied projects. ■ Various points of contact for the issue “The Ageing Society“, e.g. medical, technical, socioscientific questions. ■ Not more than three projects per university (one page per project). ■ Easy-to-read representations. ■ Contact information on project leaders and participants. 17 universities participated in this survey and submitted details for 45 research projects. 5 RWTH AACHEN UNIVERSITY 1.1 JARA – BRAIN; JÜLICH AACHEN RESEARCH ALLIANCE – TRANSLATIONAL BRAIN MEDICINE ABSTRACT LIST OF PARTICIPANTS Translational Brain Medicine (JARA-BRAIN) RWTH Aachen University Aim: The School of Medicine (RWTH) and the Institute of Neuroscience (especially School of Medicine) and Biophysics–Medicine (Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, FZJ) have Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH proven collaborations in various psychiatric and neurological research (especially Institute of Neurosciences and Medicine, INM) projects. Halle Pietism was a reform movement within the Lutheran church in 17th and 18th century Germany that believed the establishment church had become too concerned with correct theology, thus they aimed at a revival of intense Biblicism, personal spirituality, and social reform. The Pietists, led by August Hermann Francke (1662-1727) , and King Friedrich Wilhelm I (rl7l3-l740) were partners in an attempt to create a Godly realm in economically strapped and politically divided Brandenburg-Prussia. In large measure the partnership produced Pietist control of Brandenburg- Prussia'a pulpits and schoolrooms, despite the opposition of another informal alliance, this between the landed nobility and the establishment Lutheran church, who hoped to maintain their own authority in the religious and political spheres.

INTRODUCTION On 117 rolls of this microfilm publication, M1947, are reproduced the administrative records, photographs of artworks, and property cards from the Wiesbaden Central Collecting Point during the period 1945–52. The Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives (MFAA) Section recovered Nazi-looted works of art and artifacts from various storage areas and shipped the objects to one of four U.S. central collecting points, including Wiesbaden. In order to research restitution claims, MFAA officers gathered intelligence reports, interrogation reports, captured documents, and general information regarding German art looting. The Wiesbaden records are part of the “Ardelia Hall Collection” in Records of United States Occupation Headquarters, World War II, Record Group (RG) 260. With an area of 258 square kilometers and 340,000 inhabitants, it is the 18th most populated city in Germany and No. 8 in the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia.The city is divided into ten districts, which, in terms of settlement structure, can be divided into a densely populated center with the city districts “Mitte” and “Schildesche” as well as the more extensive eight outer districts. Due to the partly rural outdoor areas over 50 percent of the city are agricultural and forest areas, which is slightly above the average of small cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. A special structural feature of Bielefeld is the division into two parts by the Teutoburg Forest, which is both green lung and "traffic needle". The city structure can also be seen in the interlinkages. The Bielefeld city center, with its high proportion of jobs, is the nerve center of the path links. The most commonly used traffic links are radially aligned with the center. In addition to the city center, the district centers characterize the city. Thus, e.g. the district centers “Brackwede” and “Sennestadt” south of the Teutoburg Forest and the center of “Heepen” northeast of the city center have high domestic traffic. Important traffic generators outside of the city center continue to be Bethel in Gadderbaum district, with around 8,500 employees the city's largest employer, and the University and University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld with around 35,000 students located west of the center in the districts “Dornberg” and “Schildesche”.

    Wreaths of Time: Perceiving the Year in Early Modern Germany (1475-1650) Nicole Marie Lyon October 12, 2015 Previous Degrees: Master of Arts Degree to be conferred: PhD University of Cincinnati Department of History Dr. Sigrun Haude ii DISSERTATION ABSTRACT “Wreaths of Time” broadly explores perceptions of the year’s time in Germany during the long sixteenth century (approx. 1475-1650), an era that experienced unprecedented change with regards to the way the year was measured, reckoned and understood. Many of these changes involved the transformation of older, medieval temporal norms and habits. The Gregorian calendar reforms which began in 1582 were a prime example of the changing practices and attitudes towards the year’s time, yet this event was preceded by numerous other shifts. The gradual turn towards astronomically-based divisions between the four seasons, for example, and the use of 1 January as the civil new year affected depictions and observations of the year throughout the sixteenth century. Relying on a variety of printed cultural historical sources— especially sermons, calendars, almanacs and treatises—“Wreaths of Time” maps out the historical development and legacy of the year as a perceived temporal concept during this period. In doing so, the project bears witness to the entangled nature of human time perception in general, and early modern perceptions of the year specifically. During this period, the year was commonly perceived through three main modes: the year of the civil calendar, the year of the Church, and the year of nature, with its astronomical, agricultural and astrological cycles. As distinct as these modes were, however, they were often discussed in richly corresponding ways by early modern authors.

    Der Kreis Gütersloh Zahlen | Daten | Fakten 2020 VORWORT VON LANDRAT DER KREIS GÜTERSLOH: SVEN-GEORG ADENAUER ZAHLEN | DATEN | FAKTEN Bevölkerungsschutz: Neue Wachen, neue Leitstelle, neues Zentrum In Sachen Bevölkerungsschutz hat sich in der Vergangenheit bereits eine Kreis Gütersloh 4 Menge getan im besten Kreis der Welt und wir sind noch lange nicht fertig: Entstehung des Kreises Gütersloh 5 Zwei neue – zunächst nur provisorische – Rettungswachen in Clarholz Geographische Lage 5 und Steinhagen, die Suche nach einem Grundstück für die Rettungswache in Halle/Westf. und die Planungen für ein möglichst zentral im Kreis zu Städte und Gemeinden 6 bauendes Bevölkerungsschutzzentrum. Auch die Kreisleitstelle, die alle Bevölkerung 8 Notrufe unter der Nummer 112 disponiert, ist 2019 neu an den Start Ortsteile im Kreis Gütersloh 10 gegangen – in dem Neubau der Feuer- und Rettungswache der Stadt Gütersloh (Foto S. 29). Innerhalb der Verwaltung haben wir die Abteilung Kultur 12 Bevölkerungsschutz als neue, eigenständige Abteilung aufgestellt, um die Großveranstaltungen 13 Strukturen zu verbessern. Das alles haben wir mit Politik und Kommunen Ausfl ugsziele 14 diskutiert, geplant und teilweise schon eröffnet, bevor wir wussten, Museen und Ausstellungen 15 dass uns eine Coronapandemie droht. Weil wir überzeugt sind, dass im Rettungsdienst und im Bevölkerungsschutz uns gute Ausbildung, viel üben Gesundheit 19 und sehr gute Strukturen helfen, für die Menschen im Kreis da zu sein. Wir Sport 20 werden möglichst bald die vier noch ausstehenden Projekte umsetzen. In Schulen 20 Clarholz suchen wir mittelfristig zusammen mit der Gemeinde ein geeignetes Grundstück, in Steinhagen ebenfalls, unserem zweiten neuen Standort. In Patenschaften und Partnerschaften 21 Halle/Westf. brauchen wir einen neuen Standort, die jetzige Rettungswache Tourismus 21 platzt aus allen Nähten.
