Le Petit Lion - 2013 LE PETIT LION - 2013 2013 ASSEMBLAGE / BLEND Cabernet Sauvignon 46% Merlot 53% Cabernet Franc 1% DATE DE VENDANGE / HARVEST PERIOD Du 2 au 17 octobre 2013 From 2nd to 17th October 2013 ANALYSES / LAB ANALYZES Degré : 13,10 %vol. - Acidité Totale : 3,62 gH2SO4/l - pH : 3,73 - IPT : 58 Alcohol degree : 13.10 %vol. After a very late budburst, the cold May weather hindered the vines growth and enormously delayed the blossoming. The latter began in a fairly dry and mild WWW.DOMAINES-DELON.COM LE PETIT LION - 2013 atmosphere and finished in cold, rainy weather that caused considerable flower shatter on the plots of Merlot. Following these wet conditions early in the cycle, the weather became dry and sunny again in July and August. The colour change and the beginning of the ripening process thus luckily took place in quite favourable weather conditions. In this delicate vintage, anticipation was the keyword in the vineyard. A vegetal cover was maintained with targeted grassing between the rows of certain plots and the ploughing was limited. These technical decisions all contributed to minimise the impact of the rainfall whilst early de-leafing (immediately after the end of flowering) and lateral shoot removal maintained a constant airing and rapid drying of the bunches from berry set right through to harvest. The grapes thus remained healthy, despite the return of rainfall from mid-September, and we were able to attain good maturity in the tannins for each of the various terroirs of the property. NOTES DE DÉGUSTATION / TASTING NOTES JAMES SUCKLING 89/100 A silky and fruity red with firm tannins and fresh acidity. Medium body. Pretty finish. Balanced and pretty. Second wine of Las Cases. (February 2016) WINE ENTHUSIAST / ROGER VOSS 91/100 The second wine of Léoville Las Cases has structure and richness with plenty of concentration. At the same time, it has so much fresh, ripe fruit, laced with intense acidity that it is more fresh then structured. With this balance already established it will be ready to drink from 2019. (January 2016) FALSTAFF / PETER MOSER 90/100 Mittleres Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breiterer Wasserrand. Zart mit Nougat unterlegtes rotes Waldbeerkonfit, dezente Kräuterwürze. Saftig, florale WWW.DOMAINES-DELON.COM LE PETIT LION - 2013 NOTES DE DÉGUSTATION / TASTING NOTES - SUITE Nuancen, süßes Brombeerkonfit, feine Tannine, schokoladiger Touch im Nachhall, vielseitig einsetzbar. (April 2014) JANCIS ROBINSON / RICHARD HEMMING 16,5/20 (...). Lovely granite sort of aroma, and loads of ripe fruit. Modern but with one foot firmly in the St-Julien soil - really savoury and dry and complex. (April 2014) JEANNIE CHO LEE 90/100 Silky and supple - this wine has a great texture. Gentle extraction with silky tanins. Impressive in this vintage. Lively fruit 53% Merlot adding a roundness. In this blend, there is old Merlot from Las Cases. (April 2014) VINOUS / ANTONIO GALLONI 88-90/100 The 2013 Le Petit Lion is an attractive, juicy offering laced with red stone fruits, wild flowers, mint and spices. A fleshy, resonant wine for the year, the 2013 shows good balance and plenty of breadth. Violets, rose petals and sweet spices linger on the supple, inviting finish. This is unusually good for a second wine. Le Petit Lion is mostly young-vine Cabernet, plus old-vine Merlot that does not make it into the Grand Vin. (...) . Tasted twice. (April 2014) WINE SPECTATOR / JAMES MOLESWORTH 88/100 This has good grip, with brambly tannins carrying juicy plum and blackberry fruit flavors. Ample licorice and roasted apple wood notes hold sway on the finish. Solid, if just a touch chunky in feel at the end. Best from 2017 through 2021. • Silvaner Subtle, Shapely & Stylish
Silvaner subtle, shapely & stylish A RENDEZVOUS WITH TRADITION 3 THE STYLE OF SILVANER WINES Silvaner is one of the most important white grape varieties in German viticul- tural history. From its debut in Germany in the second half of the 17th century through the mid-1960s, it was the most widely planted grape variety in Germany. At its peak, it was cultivated in ca. half of Germany’s total vineyard area. It replaced inferior grape varieties, including Elbling and Gutedel, until it was supplanted by the more prolific grape Müller-Thurgau. But Silvaner has made its comeback. The world’s largest acreage of Silvaner lies in Germany, with ca. 5,000 ha (12,500 acres), where it is the fifth most important grape today, equal to 5% of the country’s vineyard area. Of this 2,371 ha (ca. 5,859 acres) are planted in Rhein hessen and 1,406 ha (3,474 acres) in Franken, the world's largest Silvaner regions. The grape is particularly adept at reflecting its terroir: mineral tones clearly underscore fruity, spicy or herbal / vegetal aromas remi- niscent of honeydew melon, apricot, apple, orange or lemon peel; coriander; celery and new-mown hay or grass; and sometimes, toasty notes – as depicted in the glass to the right. Silvaner 4 A RENDEZVOUS WITH TRADITION Leading producers plant Silvaner in top sites that are protected from wind and cold, yet have good circulation and sufficient moisture. If left unchecked, it is a prolific bearer of grapes suitable for uncomplicated everyday wines. With quality-oriented vineyard maintenance, including stringent pruning, Silvaner grapes can produce very good and excellent Prädikat wines.

  • Festivals to Attend Wine Dinners to Enjoy
CHIHOU SEPTEMBER 17, 2019 WINE: A SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 2019 We’ve remarked before that we’re endowed with an embarassment of riches when it comes to drinking in Singapore, and perhaps the best example of that comes from wine. We’ve managed to round up almost a dozen things to do with wines, big or small, this September and October, a good month before the holiday season proper even begins. Strap in, we’ll get you through it. FESTIVALS TO ATTEND Going all out: Wine Pinnacle Awards 2019 and the GREAT Wine & Dine Festival When it comes to wine awards, it’s often a little hazy as to how the final entries are selected, and how the winner is decided. It’s also important to ask how relevant it is to you. Well, perhaps those questions can be answered by Resorts World Sentosa. They’ve gotten together a five-member Wine Committee of luminaries, helmed by Jeannie Cho Lee, the first Asian Master of Wine, and an independent jury of over 80 wine professionals to launch its inaugural Wine Pinnacle Awards 2019. Held from 10 to 12 October this year, the awards will not restrict wines under consideration by origin, submissions or entry fees. The gala dinner and awards ceremony will be held on 10th October, in partnership with two Michelin-starred La Grand’Vigne . You might ask how is this relevant to me? Well, if pomp and pageantry isn’t your thing, however, The GREAT Wine & Dine Festival will be on during the awards season, and many of the nominated wines (some of the best ones in the world, we remind you), will be paired with food from Resorts World’s many celebrity chef-helmed restaurants.

In the present research, we intend to fill the gap in valuation studies. We propose a first extensive exploration and categorization of five decades of research on wine quality signaling and evaluation through market analysis. We review the emergence and evolution of a consumer- oriented wine evaluation market, providing a critical account of demand, and unveil the market structure and mechanisms. The parallel development of scientific knowledge and technical practices over the last few decades has had a significant impact on wine quality definition and evaluation.
