We have had a very eventful summer which included Page 5: 2018-2019 Schedule running 4 basketball camps that brought over 150 Page 6: Justin Moore Concert campers to campus. An additional 26 high school Page 7: All Class Reunion teams came to campus throughout June and July Page 8: AMEC Fundraiser to participate in our Extended Team Camp. Follow us on twitter at: We are looking forward to starting the @UWSMBB academic year in just under 3 weeks and are Like us on Facebook inching closer to our 2018-2019 season. Our UW-Superior Men’s Basketball 2018-2019 schedule has been officially released and is included in this newsletter. Also included are brief descriptions of the 11 incoming student-athletes that will be joining our program. Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the rest of your summer! GO YELLOWJACKETS! Greg Polkowski Head Men’s Basketball Coach Corey Hallsten is our July/August Featured alumnus and came to UW-Superior after graduating from Esko (MN) High School. Corey played for the Yellowjackets from 1996-2000. Following graduation in 2000 Corey has worked his way up through various radio stations/companies and now is currently the Radio Brand Manager at 101 WIXX in Green Bay, WI. Why did you Choose to attend UW-Superior? Playing with my cousin (Jerimy Hallsten) and going to a program I felt was heading in the right direction with a strong incoming class (I came in the same year as Vince Thomas) and a solid communications department. What was your favorite memory of playing at UW-Superior? So many things. My senior year we had the first winning record in over 15 years and made it to the conference semi-finals before we lost to Stevens Point in OT - which eventually made it to the Final Four (along with Eau Claire) that year - so I was part of a big turnaround over my 4 years. But mostly I think of the off-court shenanigans, especially my junior and sen- ior years, along with Ryan Tressel, being a “leader” on the team but always having a good time. I would constantly harass Brandon Vesel (in a loving way) and the long-running joke was that coach would eventually put us in the same room on a road trip. It never happened until the LAST road-trip of the year. As coach stood in the front of the bus calling out players and who their roomie would be at the hotel, he said “Al (Andre)....Corey….Brandon….Corey & Brandon have to share a cot…” the entire team busted out laughing, including all the coaches. (BTW: we did stay in the same room, but not the same bed, but I think Vesel was scared!!) What are your other fond memories of UW-Superior? I met my wife there my senior year; Sheri (Domitrovich) was a star on the UWS Women’s team at the time. We’re happily married now with 3 kids. Also, getting to work at KUWS and be “The Network” director (hip-hop/ rap show) and get really good hands-on experience in what my professional career (and passion) would end up being! In your eyes what makes UW-Superior unique from other Institutions? Small-town feel, you feel like more than a number and you get to know a LOT of people on-campus over 4 years! What did you take away from your time at UW-Superior that you still use in your life today? Staying positive during adversity. My first two years, we lost to Bo Ryan and UW-Platteville by an average of 40 points a game. My senior year we finally beat them and only a few of us were around still from my Freshman year. A lot of my fellow incoming class had left the team since then, so it felt good to “stick-it-out” during the early years and feel good about accomplishing what we did. This summer we enjoyed hosting 4 Basketball camps that totaled over 150 campers, in addition to our Extended Team Camp that was comprised of 26 High School Teams. Superior High School finished our team camp with a record of 12-0 to claim a first place finish. August 2015 Newsletter ------------------- Yesterday & Today Records PO Box 54 Miranda NSW 2228 Australia Phone: (02) 95311710 [email protected] www.yesterdayandtoday.com.au ----------------------------------------------- Postage It takes a lot to understand Australia Post. Essentially there are 2 main things. If an item is under 20mm thick it goes as a large letter at a much cheaper rate to something over 20mm thick which is then classified as a parcel. This applies to both Australian and overseas Australia 1 cd $2 2cds $3 3/4/5 cds $8. The latter is up to 500grams and then individual areas are charged separately. If not in NSW it is usually cheaper to send anything over 500 grams in a prepaid satchel. It is $14 for a 3 cds satchel and you can get around 25 cds in one. That is in cases. Without cases you can get maybe 60-70 in a 3kg satchel. Overseas 1 cd or 2 cds is going to be $8 (cheaper for N.Z) and that is with cases. BUT 6 or so can go for $8 if you send without cases. Maximum weight is 250grams. Over 250 grams or thicker than 20mm it goes as a parcel BUT the good thing is the weight is 500 grams maximum. Box sets will be too probably too heavy. ---------------------------------------------------------- Extras/ lucky dip How about 50 cds for $50. They will be sent without cases in a 3kg satchel $14 or if in Sydney postal region $10. Good titles all as new and no dud labels. Can also add cds in at $1 each to make up to post maximum weight.
