Sri Rukmini Kalyanam is a very auspicious and sacred event planned for the first time on Saturday, September 3 2018 at Shiva Vishnu Temple. Rukmini is the incarnation Goddess Lakshmi for pairing with Lord Krishna who is incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Rukmi, the brother of Rukmini, tries to get her married to Sisupala. Rukmini writes to Lord Krishna and sends the letter through a brahmin priest. Lord Krishna rushes to fetch Rukmini and takes her to Dwaraka by defeating all the kings. It is a practice in hindu families to make unmarried girls/boys recite, listen, perform or witness Rukmini kalyanam so that marriage gets settled soon. Also they believe that power of recital can make them get suitable spouses. Please plan on participating in this auspicious event and receive divine blessings

Sri Rukmini Kalyanam - Significance Sri Rukmini Kalyanam has great religious significance. Sri Rukmini Kalyanam is part of Dasama Skandam (10th canto or book) of great epic Maha Bhagavatham. Dasama Skanda of Maha Bhagavatam is mainly focused on Sri Krishna Leelas. Lord Krishna who is treated Paramatma himself (Krishnastu Bhagavan Swayam) incarnates among innocent people of Nandavraja. He shows many leelas that are pleasure to hear to devotees.
Rukmini Devi represents the Jivatma which longs to attain the Paramatma and Lord Krishna is the Paramatma. The 5 brothers of Rukmini represent the 5 senses. These five senses always try to get us into worldly matters and away from God. When the quest for God is true, the Guru comes by Himself and takes the message of the devotee to the Lord. If the message is delivered by the Guru, the Lord Himself comes. Sri Rukmini Kalyanam is indeed the merger of the Jivatma into the Paramatma.
