Afternoon in Rabat, the capital visiting Medina, Kasbah of the Oudayas, King Mohamed V Mausoleum, Hassan Tower and Royal Palace. Dinner and overnight in Rabat. May 1, 2016 DAY 2, RABAT / MEKNES /VOLUBILIS/ Fes After breakfast, travel to Meknes via Volubilis and Moulay Idriss. Volubilis was Roman capital of the Moorish province with beautiful mosaics and Roman ruins. Moulay Idris is where country's first Arab dynasty was established. Overnight in Fes. 2 | P a g e May 2, 2016 DAY 3, FES: After breakfast, tour Holy City of Fes, a jewel of Spanish-Arab civilization. An amazing medieval town, bustling with artisans, merchants, fragrances and colors. Karaouiyne University has been religious and intellectual center with influence beyond the Kingdom's boundaries for eleven centuries. Cradle of religious, cultural and artistic traditions, Fes is Morocco's spiritual capital. Visiting the Andalusian mosque, dating from 9th century, with school and lodging houses for students. The Medina is a labyrinth of sloping, winding alleys full of sellers' stalls and workshops. Each section has its own specialty: cobalt blue enameled pottery, carpets, wrought iron, clothing, hats, slippers, olives, grains, etc. Watch artisans dye colorful yarns, process leather and leather goods, bind books with leather, and more. May 3, 2016 DAY 4, FES / AZROU / MIDELT / ERFOUD: (Fes to Erfoud: 421 Km) After breakfast, drive into Atlas Mountains covered with evergreen pines, cedar trees and poplars. Visit Azrou, an important market, playing long strategic role in controlling Berbers of the mountains. Depart Middle Atlas ascending High Atlas rising behind the town of Midelt with Dgebel Ayashi at over 12000ft. Overnight in Erfoud. May 4, 2016 DAY 5, ERFOUD / MERZOUGA: Morning at leisure, then on to massive Merzouga dune in the Sahara desert, through valley with date palm trees. Lunch, dinner and overnight under nomad tents with our local Touareg hosts. Climb sand dunes to watch sunset. A clear evening displays a magnificent sky. May 5, 2016 DAY 6, MERZOUGA / OUARZAZATE: Sunrise excursion on camels to the dunes. Watch sun rising from tops of golden dunes. Breakfast with the Touareg people, then on to explore the ancient city of Rissani via 4X4 vehicle. Continue to Tinghir, 3 | P a g e via the high, narrow Todra gorges.
