The information is based on a survey tour conducted during October 11-13, 2015. Around 0 the Palkot three sites were selected for the collection. Two sites were selected on Gobarsilli (22 53.058N, 0 0 0 Jalil Ahmad 084 39.229E), and one site was selected on Kura Pahar (22 51.621 N, 084 38.123 E).The collection Zoological Survey of India, survey and identification yielded a total of 89 species of Lepidoptera including 30 species of Butterflies Gangetic Plains Regional Centre, under 26 genera and 59 species of Moths under 42 genera. As far as Butterflies are concerned, Sector-8, Bahadurpur Housing Nymphalidae with 64% of total reported Butterflies dominated the group whereas, in moths, Erebidae Colony, Patna-800 026, Bihar, dominated with 73% of the collected moth species. The average elevation of the forest is around 90m. The altitude however ranges from 70–300 m. The reserve falls between Golaghat and elevation forests of Panbari Reserve, Kaziranga - West Karb Anglong (KA) districts of Assam. To the north of Karbi Hills, upper Assam is reported in this paper. We see that the recently proposed genera Neoapodemia Trujano, 2018 and Plesioarida Trujano & García, 2018 are closely allied with Apodemia C. & R. Felder, [1865] and are better viewed as its subgenera, new status. Overall, Emesis Fabricius, 1807 and Apodemia (even after inclusion of the two subgenera) are so phylogenetically close that several species have been previously swapped between these two genera. New combinations are: Apodemia (Neoapodemia) zela (Butler, 1870), Apodemia (Neoapodemia) ares (Edwards, 1882), and Apodemia (Neoapodemia) arnacis (Stichel, 1928) (not Emesis); and Emesis phyciodoides (Barnes & Benjamin, 1924) (not Apodemia), assigned to each genus by their monophyly in genomic trees with the type species (TS) of the genus. -

Mizoram Statehood day February 22, 2021 In news Recently, the Prime Minister greeted people of Mizoram on 35th statehood day About Mizoram It is a state in northeastern India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. Statehood: It attained statehood on February 20, 1987 following the 53rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution in 1986 Location: Mizoram, located in southern tip of northeastern region is bounded by Myanmar to the east and south, Bangladesh to the west, Tripura to the northwest, Assam to the north, and Manipur to the northeast. Evolution of its name: The ‘Land of Mizos’ was earlier known as the Lushai hills district of Assam before it was renamed as the Mizo hills District in 1954 and became union territory in 1972 and in achieved statehood on February 20, 1987 The name of the state is derived from “Mizo”, the self described name of the native inhabitants, and “Ram”, which in the Mizo language means “land.” Thus “Mizo-ram” means “land of the Mizos Demography: According to a 2011 census, in that year Mizoram’s population was 1,091,014. It is the 2nd least populous state in the country. Mizoram covers an area of approximately 21,087 square kilometres The sex ratio of the state is 976 females per thousand males, higher than the national ratio 940. The density of population is 52 persons per square kilometre. It is situated at the western site of Govt. Science College Hostel, Rewa (M.P.). Butterfly watching and recording was done in such a way that there should be least one visit in each line transect during a week with the aid of binocular and digital cameras. Total 138 species of butterflies were recorded belonging to 117 genera and 11 families. Lycaenidae family is consisting of maximum number of genera and species. During unfavourable seasons, that in spring and summer, a low population found. Kupu-kupu (Rhopalocera) merupakan salah satu serangga yang memiliki peran sebagai bioindikator. Menghitung tingkat keanekaragaman adalah metode yang digunakan untuk dapat mengetahui fungsi kupu-kupu sebagai indikator terhadap perubahan ekologis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari tentang diversitas dan peranan ekologi kupu-kupu (Rhopalocera) yang ada di area Blok Ireng-ireng Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS). Metode pengamatan kupu-kupu (Rhopalocera) yang digunakan adalah metode transek dengan mencatat jumlah seitap spesies yang dijumpai. Penelitian dilakukan pada 6 stasiun selama bulan Desember – Februari. Hasil pengamatan didapatkan 32 spesies Kupu-kupu (sub ordo Rhopalocera) dengan satu spesies yang dilindungi oleh pemerintah yaitu Troides cuneifera. Hasil pengamatan kemudian dihitung dengan menggunakan indeks diversitas (H’), indeks kemerataan (E), dan frekuensi relatif (FR). Hasil dari perhitungan tersebut di dapatkan hasil H’=2,67, -

Conner 1 1 Department of Biology, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, United States, 2 Department of Zoology, Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee, WI, United States Many aposematic animals are well-known to exhibit generally sluggish movements. However, less is known about their escape responses when under direct threat of predation. In this study, we characterize the anti-bat escape responses of 5 species of tiger moth (Erebidae: Arctiinae), a subfamily of Lepidoptera which possess ultrasound-sensitive ears. These ears act as an early-warning system which can detect the ultrasonic cries of nearby echolocating bats, allowing the moths to enact evasive flight behaviors in an effort to escape predation. We examine the role that unpalatability plays in predicting the likelihood that individuals of a given species will enact escape behaviors in response to predation. We hypothesized that more unpalatable species would be less likely to exhibit escape maneuvers (i.e., more nonchalant) than their less unpalatable counterparts. Common species in natural forest include Butea monosperma, Anogeissus latifolia, zizyphus spp., Azadirachta indica, Madhuca longifolia, Boswellia serrata, Manilkara hexandra, Diospyros melanoxylon, Phonix spp., Pithocellobium dulce, Annona squamosa, etc.
