Area Summary Friston is a small village and parish that lies between Saxmundham and Aldeburgh in Suffolk Coastal. The village tells a similar story to other rural areas with the recent loss of key local services although it does retain a number of local services. The village retains a village hall and two active churches alongside a sizeablevillage green. Recent years have seen the revival of the village pub and the installation of a play area. The parish is well placed to attract visitors and residents and its neighbours (Snape and Aldeburgh) both have a significant draw. Friston sits on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with the coast only a few miles to the east and the river Alde passing through the southern edge of the parish.
