To provide an extensive experience in the diagnostic and operative management of patients with common and rare endocrine surgical conditions. To promote clinical and basic science research in the field of surgical endocrinology and oncology. FELLOWSHIP DESCRIPTION & The University of Sydney Endocrine CURRICULUM Surgical Unit has an annual caseload of over 1500 endocrine surgical cases. These include 200 new thyroid cancer presentations, 300 parathyroid procedures, 45 adrenalectomy procedures and 10 neuroendocrine cases per year. Fellows will receive a comprehensive exposure to operative surgery both as an independent operator and assistant, and will coordinate the endocrine surgical service at Royal North Shore Hospital. Multidisciplinary outpatients clinics are run twice weekly with a high level exposure to point of care ultrasound and fibre-optic laryngoscopy. A weekly endocrine surgical seminar program aims to fulfil the learning objectives as set out by the Australia and Endocrine Surgeons Association and American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. ELIGIBILITY Candidates should have completed training in General Surgery and be able to participate on an Acute General Surgical Emergency Roster.
