Morgana, Ms is just like hundreds of small southern towns. Everybody knows everybody else, and their business, and everyone feels free to offer an opinion. Nothing much happens, except it does; children are the same as they have always been and always will be; time passes, children grow up, people age and die. What Welty does exceptionally well here is capture the feeling of small towns in the South.
