Solemn Vespers Deeper Union with Both Mary and Jesus The Importance of the Marian Consecration Feast of the Visitation St. Louis de Montfort formally established the most traditional method of Marian consecration, which seeks to bring men and women into Solemn Vespers deeper union with both Mary and Jesus. Consecration seeks to engage all people, encompassing those at various stages of spirituality and theological knowledge. Pondering the teachings of the saints, leading you to formally acknowledge and accept Mary as your spiritual Mother. We give her our ‘yes,’ and she knows what the power of a ‘yes’ can do. When we say ‘yes’ to her as our Mother, it unleashes the full power of her motherly care, mediation and tenderness in our lives. Total consecration to Mary is the quickest, easiest, surest way to holiness. The Marian consecration offers a profound understanding of how to address the desires of Christ and lovingly console His heart, which suffered so greatly through His passion and death. Jesus wants for us no less consolation than He had in his moments of darkness, which is to have His mother as our spiritual mother and to formally accept this invitation and take her into our home. The overarching purpose for making a Marian consecration and placing it within the concept of missionary discipleship is that Mary brings us to a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus then brings us to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity in turn brings us closer to others. Transforming community with Christ is our goal, because when we enter into deeper intimacy with Christ we take on His heart and His thirst for souls. All are invited to a light reception at the Fr. Amyot Parish Center sponsored by the Norfolk Knights of Columbus. Join us, and continue our joyful observance of the Feast of the Visitation. HOLY LAND 2015 Monday 25th May 2015 On way to airport for flight to Holy Land. There's a mix of folks from many parishes but happy to report there's been no fighting......yet! Arrived safely without losing anyone or, strangely, wanting to lose anyone! 34 degrees temp. Straight to hotel for dinner and bed for a 6:30 am start. God have mercy on us! Tuesday 26th May 2015 Mass this morning in Church of The Nativity at St Joseph's altar, the place of his vision of the Angels telling him to flee to Egypt. Veneration of the 'Locus iste'. A need for Ecumenism here. After visit to Church of Ascension, Church of Pater Noster and the Dominus Flavit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem, we spent time looking at the old city seeing features that wouldn't be unfamiliar to Jesus. Then, down to the Garden of Gethsemane for a very emotive visit in baking heat. In short, a very striking first day with some profound silences. It must be gin o'clock now!! Wednesday 27th May 2015 Another early start to local co-operative that helps support around 50 Christian families. I've done my bit on behalf of the parish! All I'll say is: Make sure you're at Mass in a couple of weeks ........! Morning visits to Church of the Dormition of Our Lady and the Cenacle Room (Upper Room) on Mount Sion. Onto the Jewish Quarter which is full of American accents with a smattering of Hebrew. Mass beside the Cenacle. Afternoon visit to St Peter in Gallicantu, the place where Peter denied Jesus.

The routes are planned for those who wish to visit lesser-known sites that still maintain the flavor of the country before the development boom of the last 100 years.

  • 2021 05 28 Grace-Notes-In-Miniature
Dear friends: As we anticipate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity on Sunday, and the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Monday, May is certainly going out with a fanfare. 1 The prayers dedicated to the Holy Trinity came into being as a response to the Arian Heresy which held that the Son of God was not eternal with the Father, but rather created by the Father in Time and therefore had to be subordinate. The Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325 formally confirmed the doctrine of the Trinity and this is reflected in the Nicene Creed, where we state: I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father… In response to the continuation of Arianism, the Church Fathers introduced an Office for the Holy Trinity, and the Sacramentary of St Gregory the Great (590 – 604) included such an Office and the Preface of the Trinity. In the early fourteenth century, Pope John XXII designated the Sunday after Pentecost as the feast of the Holy Trinity and we continue that practice today. Until the decision was made to move the celebration of Corpus Christi to the following Sunday, that Solemnity would have been celebrated on the Thursday following Trinity Sunday. In the home, Trinity Sunday has been celebrated with triangular pastries or rolls shaped like clover leaves or shamrocks. You can find a liturgy for use at home while we wait out our Covid-19 separation from our churches at https://aleteia.org/2020/06/06/how-to-celebrate-trinity- sunday-at-home/ 2 On Monday we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, remembering the story of a newly pregnant Mary making a journey into the hill country to visit her older cousin, Elizabeth, who, after many years of longing, is in her sixth month of pregnancy with the child who will be John the Baptist.
