ODD Internet Advancement Procedures
Old Dominion District & Internet Advancement BSA Internet Advancement Internet Advancement is for reporting Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Sea Scout ranks; Venturing advancement awards; Webelos activity badges; merit badges; and various other awards available in all BSA programs. Assumptions: Scouts are advancing in rank, earning merit badges and gaining recognition for their accomplishments. Scout leaders are interested in recording their Scout’s achievements. A common method of recording and reporting achievement toward advancement promotes equity for all scouts Guide Posts: Internet Advancement is a unit responsibility. Each unit ensures a Scout’s progress is included in both his unit database (e.g., Troopmaster, Scoutbook) AND reported to BSA Internet Advancement. A unit’s Internet Advancement will include all updated information by the end of the calendar year. For Webelos – the Arrow of Light award is entered into Internet Advancement shortly after award, but no later than when the scout bridges to a Boy Scout troop. Success means: All ODD units are registered with BSA Internet Advancement Unit Advancement Coordinators are reporting Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Sea Scout ranks; Venturing advancement awards; Webelos activity badges; merit badges; and various other awards available in all BSA programs. Each unit updates Internet Advancement monthly. Scouts' records are accurate and up to date when they submit Eagle rank applications or transfer from one unit to another within the Council Commissioners, other district and council volunteers, and the National Council have access to accurate records due to consistent and timely reporting by units How Internet Advancement works: You can get Internet Advancement Training http://www.ncacbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Internet_Advancement_Update.pdf The unit assigns a Scouter, usually the unit Advancement Coordinator, who is also known in Internet Advancement terms as the “unit advancement processor”, to record advancements. -
