THE NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY ANNOUNCES 31St ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS For Immediate Release THE NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY ANNOUNCES 31st ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS Daytime Emmys Air Friday, May 21st On NBC At 9:00 p.m. (ET) Live from Radio City Music Hall NEW YORK -- March 04, 2004 – The National Television Academy today announced the nominees for the 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The announcement was made live on NBC’s The Today Show. The nominations were presented by an all-star lineup of daytime’s leading actors and actresses including: Days of Our Lives’ Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Roberts); Passions’ Charles Divins (Chad Harris); All My Children’s Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery); One Life to Live’s Heather Tom (Kelly Cramer Buchanan); As the World Turns’ Tamara Tunie (Jessica Griffin); and Guiding Light’s Robert Newman (Joshua Lewis). Nominations were announced in the following categories: Outstanding Drama Series; Outstanding Actor/Actress In A Drama Series; Outstanding Supporting Actor/Actress in a Drama Series; Outstanding Talk Show; and Outstanding Performer In A Children's Series. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast during the 2003 calendar year. This year’s ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC on Friday, May 21, from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. (ET). Dick Clark Productions will produce the show. The Lifetime Achievement Award this year will be presented to ten veteran actors who have devoted a major portion of their careers to Daytime Drama: Rachel Ames, John Clarke, Jeanne Cooper, Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings, Anna Lee, Ray MacDonnell, Frances Reid, Helen Wagner, and Ruth Warrick. The Creative Craft Daytime Emmy Awards, primarily for the creative arts categories, will be presented at ceremonies on Saturday, May 15, in New York at the Marriott Marquis Hotel and in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theatre Ballroom. Daytime Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television programs that are broadcast between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The eligibility period for all awards was January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. A complete list of nominees in all categories, a network-by-network tally and a list of programs with multiple nominations, compiled by the independent accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP, are attached. This information is also available on the National Television Academy web site at http://www.emmyonline.org beginning at 10:00 AM (ET) today. Chen Spring 2015 The Disability Drive © Anna Mollow, 2015. 1 Abstract The Disability Drive by Anna Mollow Doctor of Philosophy in English University of California Berkeley Professor Kent Puckett, Chair This dissertation argues that the psychic force that Freud named “the death drive” would more precisely be termed “the disability drive.” Freud‟s concept of the death drive emerged from his efforts to account for feelings, desires, and actions that seemed not to accord with rational self- interest or the desire for pleasure. Positing that human subjectivity was intrinsically divided against itself, Freud suggested that the ego‟s instincts for pleasure and survival were undermined by a competing component of mental life, which he called the death drive. But the death drive does not primarily refer to biological death, and the term has consequently provoked confusion. By distancing Freud‟s theory from physical death and highlighting its imbrication with disability, I revise this important psychoanalytic concept and reveal its utility to disability studies. While Freud envisaged a human subject that is drawn, despite itself, toward something like death, I propose that this “something” can productively be understood as disability. In addition, I contend that our culture‟s repression of the disability drive, and its resultant projection of the drive onto stigmatized minorities, is a root cause of multiple forms of oppression.

Somehow on the narrow platform they were going to have to load the injured woman on the board to get her down safely. Quickly, he grabbed a blanket from the kit and wrapped it around Natalia's lower body and then turned to look back to Natalia with an apologetic look. ! Olivia could feel the shivers from her partner as the younger woman lay in her arms. Keeping pressure on the wound with one hand, she felt around her with one hand and located the blanket Natalia had been using earlier. She wrapped it around her partner's shoulders, then returned to apply pressure, and noted the wince on the younger woman's face. Continuing to gently brush her ?ingers along Natalia's face, Olivia wished that somehow she could do more. "Hold on, sweetheart. You're going to be okay. See. Remy's here taking good care of you." !
