Garuda Day 1 Fri May 19th Flight from London 22.00 Day 2 Sat May 20th Arrive Delhi 11.15 and transport to our Hotel in Rishikesh Yatra – Sacred Journeys Day 3 Sun May 21st Stay Kalpeshwar temple shrine The Abode of the Gods - and rest in Rishikesh Day 9 Sat May 27th Trek The Mountains of Siva and to Helong and travel to Vishnu Joshimath and stay A Yatra or Sacred Pilgrimage Day 10 Sun May 28th Rest to some of India’s most day in Joshimath spiritual mountains, Rudranath Kalpeshwar and Badrinath, in the Garhwal, Ferry crossing the Ganges home of most of India’s Day 4 Mon May 22nd pilgrimage mountains. Travel to Mandal and camp We first travel to Rishikesh Day 5 Tues May 23rd Trek and enjoy the devotional air to beyond Ansuya Devi and Joshimath that thrives in this holy camp place. From here we travel Day 11 Mon May 29th To into the mountains and Badrinath and stay camp at Mandal before moving towards the beautiful Anusayi Devi to camp beyond it in the mountains and forests and further acclimatise before the first mountain climb to Rudranath Ansuya Devi Temple at 11,500 feet. Day 6 Wed May 24th Trek After Rudranath we descend Temple at 10,280 feet to Rudranath and camp via another Holy peak that Day 12 Tues May 30th Rest of Kalpaswar before coming day in Badrinath to the Holy town of Joshimath. Here we turn to using hotels and rest before Badrinath the abode of Vishnu. Then to Badrinath. Rudranath Temple After resting here amidst the stunning atmosphere and Day 7 Thurs May 25th Trek scenery we return to to Daumukh and camp Joshimath before wending Day 8 Fri May 26th Trek to Vasudhara falls Badrinath our way back to Delhi and Kalpeshwar and camp our flight to London. Day 13 Wed May 31st To Joshimath and stay Schedule - Fri 19th May to Sat 3rd June 2006 Day 14 Thurs June 1st To Rishikesh and stay The schedule is confirmed, the flight and support team Day 15 Fri June 2nd To costs are still being finalised. Ganga River Basin Management Plan Interim Report September 2013 by Consortium of 7 “Indian Institute of Technology”s (IITs) IIT IIT IIT IIT IIT IIT IIT Bombay Delhi Guwahati Kanpur Kharagpur Madras Roorkee In Collaboration with IIT NIH CIFRI NEERI JNU PU NIT-K DU BHU ISI Allahabad WWF Kolkata University India • ii • Preface In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (3) of Section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government constituted the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) as a planning, financing, monitoring and coordinating authority for strengthening the collective efforts of the Central and State Governments for effective abatement of pollution and conservation of the Ganga river. One of the important functions of the NGRBA is to prepare and implement a Ganga River Basin Management Plan (GRBMP). A Consortium of 7 “Indian Institute of Technology”s (IITs) was given the responsibility of preparing the GRBMP by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), GOI, New Delhi. A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and MoEF for this purpose on July 6, 2010. This is the Interim “Ganga River Basin Management Plan”. The thrust of this Plan is to relate the diverse environmental degradations occurring in the basin with their causal factors, and thereby frame a roadmap for redeeming National River Ganga Basin’s Environment. The task involved different thematic groups of experts from 7 IITs and other premier organizations identifying different causal factors and assessing their impacts on the basin to synthesize the findings and recommendations in fulfillment of the important missions identified in the Plan.

Satopanth Lake
Stair to Paradise; Satopanth Lake Satopanth lake is triangular lake of serene water has a perimeter of about half a kilometer. It is about 25 Kms. from Badrinath. Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar, the Hindu trinities are believed to occupy one corner each, and which are named after them. The trek is hazardous, but full of dramatic scenery. There is no place to rest between, except caves. Cooked food, stove etc. have to be carried from Badrinath itself. It is a glacial lake surrounded by high snow capped peaks, 25 km from Badrinath. Area: Garhwal Himalayas Duration: 8 Days Altitude: 4330 mts/14203 ft Grade: Moderate to tough Season: June – Mid October Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar (By Train) – Rishikesh (24 kms/40 mins) In the morning take an Ac train for Haridwar at 06:55 hrs. Arrival at Haridwar by 11:25 hrs and then met our representative and transfer to Rishikesh. Evening free to explore the area. Overnight stay in hotel. Day 02: Rishikesh – Joshimath (270 kms/8-9 hrs) In the morning met our guide and then drive to Joshimath via Devprayag, Rudraprayag. One can see Devprayag (confluence of Alaknanda & Bhagirathi.) on the way. The Holy River Ganges starts from here. Arrival at Joshimath by evening. Check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel. Joshimath The religious centre, established by Adi Shankaracharya, which he called Jyotirmath, later, came to be known as Joshimath. Among the sites of interest are the temples of Nav Durga and Narsingh. Apart from its obvious religious importance, Joshimath is known for its scenic beauty.
