The Savvy Infusion Water Bottle is so easy to use. Simply place fruit in infuser, add water and ice, and shake. The twist-on lid screws on tight, preventing spills and leaks. It’s easy to clean (hand washing recommended). The bottle’s double-walled construction provides insulation for hot or cold liquids, reducing condensation and eliminating the need for coasters. Note: • There is a tight seal surrounding the top of the infuser and the opening of the water bottle to prevent spills and leaking.

• To remove the infuser, simply grab the center tab firmly between your thumb, index and middle fingers, and pull up firmlywithout twisting.

The Savvy Infusion Water Bottle is special-diet-friendly. Whether you’re gluten-free or diabetic, intolerant or prone to certain allergies, this product will work for you. You’re in control, so that means you get to decide what your personal drink infusions will contain.

Maybe you’re wondering, are there any ingredients that won’t work? In general, you want to avoid anything that is solid when cold or completely water insoluble, as well as items that lack a juicy or aromatic quality. A few examples are nuts, peanut butter, , cocoa powder, flax seed, and wheat germ. You’ll be the most successful if you stick with fresh herbs and fruit.

You also want to avoid ingredients that turn brown quickly or break down easily, such as apples, avocado and bananas. The addition of a little citrus juice can help to prevent browning, but these ingredients will still break down significantly vero time.

© 2014 One Savvy Life Why Drink More Water?

The standard advice to drink eight glasses of water per day may not in fact be the perfect ratio for you. Everyone is different, and the amount of water that you personally need depends on size, age, activity level, and other factors. Despite these individual differences, our bodies are about 60% water, and most of us need to drink way more water than we actually do to maintain our health.

Generally speaking, water intake should equal output, meaning water lost through respiration, sweat and waste. Though water is not nutrient-dense, it is crucial for maintaining essential bodily functions. When you’re feeling thirsty, water is the absolute best option for hydration. With the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle, water can taste great, too!

Water not only serves as a calorie-free way to hydrate our bodies, it can help us to lose weight! How, you ask? Mostly by replacing that nagging urge to reach for unhealthy, calorie-dense beverages like soda, sports drinks and energy drinks.

Remember: equals calories, completely devoid of nutrients. Think of each gulp of corn-- as a serving of liquid . Even vitamin-enhanced drinks are lacking, as nutrients that are not derived from plants and other natural sources tend to be less bioavailable. This means our bodies have difficulty absorbing them.

More often than not, you won’t actually need the excessive quantities of vitamins found in these drinks, so you will expel them as waste. That’s going to be some expensive pee! Water, on the other hand, is much more affordable.

© 2014 One Savvy Life Drinking water also helps to curb your appetite and increases metabolism. A few glasses of flavor-infused water before meals can help you to feel more full, decreasing the urge to snack between meals and lowering your total calorie intake. Less calories consumed, plus an active lifestyle, and you’re on the road to weight loss!

Hydration also helps the body to process waste and toxins, essentially expelling the bad stuff as efficiently as possible. If you’re well hydrated, the kidneys are able to do their job. If not, your liver might end up picking up the slack. Rather than breaking down fat like it does when you’re hydrated, the liver needs to filter out toxins instead. In the long run, less fat breakdown means excess weight. What a great reason to stay hydrated!

© 2014 One Savvy Life Health, Environment, and $$$

Why go to the trouble of obtaining and filling a Savvy Infusion Water Bottle when you could just purchase calorie-free, fruit-flavored bottled water at the gas station or convenience store? There are several reasons, taking into consideration the health of our bodies, the health of the environment, and the health of our wallets.

First, that flavored bottled water is probably filled with artificial chemicals, dyesand additives. Blue, green or purple water might be pretty to look at, but it’s not nutritious. Would you rather drink delicious fruit-infused water that’s pure and natural, or something that was engineered in a lab, and injected with preservatives and ingredients that you can’t even pronounce? We’re thinking the former.

Secondly, bottled water tends to be less pure than you may have hoped, and it’s harsh on the environment. Most “purified” bottled water comes straight from municipal water sources. This is tap water. Regulations regarding this water are often less strict than those governing many public water systems. The bottles themselves are also a problem. They require a lot of water and energy to manufacture and distribute, and they create a huge amount of waste.

The plastic contained in most water bottles is not biodegradable, and most empty water bottles are not recycled. As the plastic does eventually begin to break down, toxins leach into the earth, and potentially back into our water supply. If you happen to leave one of these bottles in a hot car on a sunny day, they begin to release harmful chemicals into your water. Do you really want to drink that?

© 2014 One Savvy Life Finally, bottled water is tougher on our wallets than water poured straight from the tap. Though the occasional purchase of a bottled sports drink won’t break the bank, you may be surprised by the true cost of these drinks. You may be paying up to 10,000 times as much as you would for tap water (yes, that’s a one followed by four zeros) for an inferior product.

The Savvy Infusion Water Bottle addresses all of these problems. It’s reusable, eco- friendly, and BPA- and EA-free (meaning those nasty chemicals that leach out of other water bottles aren’t going to be a problem). You get to decide exactly what you’re putting into your body, choosing fresh fruit over artificial chemicals.

If you don’t like the taste of tap water, consider a pitcher-style water purifier or home filtration system. In the long run, this option is still far more affordable and environmentally-friendly than investing in a near-constant resupply of the bottled stuff. We’re sure you’ll discover water tastes great, thanks to the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle.

© 2014 One Savvy Life Discover What’s in Season for Inspiration

When it comes to creating delicious water creations in your Savvy Infusion Water Bottle, try exploring the farmer’s market for inspiration. Eating what’s in season enables you to make fresh, healthy choices. You’ll be delighted by the flavorful experience of ripe, just- picked ingredients, something you simply could not get from a bottled, preservative-filled drink.

For many, spring means strawberries. Summer brings other tastes— watermelon and cucumber, sun-ripened cherries and blueberries. In the fall, chances are you’ll find pears and stone fruit—fuzzy peaches, smooth-skinned nectarines and deep-hued plums. Winter brings a variety of citrus—grapefruit, limes, lemons, and tangerines. And don’t forget those zesty and refreshing herbs, like rosemary, spearmint, lemon balm and basil. Check out what’s in season in your area. There are so many options to choose from!

Locate a farmer’s market where you live. Talk to the farmers, and find out about their favorites. Learn what’s the best that week, and what you have to look forward to in the coming months. Look towards the growers for suggested flavor combinations, and let your nose guide you. If you don’t have a farmer’s market in your area, the produce section at your favorite grocery store is another fantastic place to start exploring.

Whether you’re trying to decrease your calorie intake, kick the soda habit, or simply drink more water, you’ll find its easiest when you have something to look forward to a refresh- ing drink catered to YOUR personal tastes. Maybe you prefer the bitter astringency of unsweetened black tea, the energizing freshness of lemon, or the of juicy watermelon. You may prefer carbonated water to still, herbs to fruit, or maybe even vegetables. Let your imagination come alive with the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle.

The following recipes and flavor combinations are just suggestions. It’s time to have a little fun. Check out what’s available near you and start experimenting. Mix and match and create new combinations. You’ll be drinking morewater in no time, and loving it!

© 2014 One Savvy Life Create an Inspired Flavor Sensation

In order to create the best flavor combinations using your Savvy Infusion Water Bottle, a little planning and prep work can go a long way. Make a list of your favorite fruits, and your best-loved flavor combinations. Think about your goals, and what you may be using the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle to replace.

Do you crave a lemon-lime beverage with fizz? The Savvy Infusion Water Bottle is carbonated water friendly. Give your drink some extra zing with this healthy alternative to soda. If you don’t have the ability to carbonate your own tap water, add unflavored sparkling water to your shopping list.

Consider the structure and makeup of your selection of fruits, herbs and spices. If you can simply place the item on your tongue as is, and instantly be overwhelmed by that ingredient’s flavor, it probably won’t require much coaxing. If, on the other hand, your chosen ingredient is particularly hard, or has a thick peel or a tough outer membrane, you’ll need to do a little prep work before tossing that particular item into your Savvy Infusion Water Bottle.

Say you’re working with watermelon. Obviously, the whole fruit just isn’t going to fit in the infuser! Remove the rind from a slice, and cut a few appropriately-sized chunks to fit inside the infuser. Think about a cut piece of watermelon—it’s juicy, and you can taste that summery sweetness as soon as it hits your tongue. Beyond some simple slicing, this particular fruit requires little additional manipulation.

© 2014 One Savvy Life But what about a blueberry? Before you bite into it, there’s very little going on there. Remember to cut berries into pieces, or macerate them lightly in a small bowl, using the back of a spoon. Herbs could also use a little extra help. When torn or lightly bruised, herbs like mint and basil begin to release their oils, increasing the flavor sensation that you will experience upon adding them to your Savvy Infusion Water Bottle. Adding to the infusion time by placing your filled water bottle in the refrigerator for a few hours before drinking can also boost the flavor.

To get the most out of dried spices, you can take a few extra steps to get the flavors working before adding them to your infuser. You probably don’t want to add the powdered variety (unless it is contained securely within a teabag,) because it will just float to the top of your water. Whole cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, star anise and other spices yield little flavor when added to cold water. Make a simple tea by infusing whole spices in hot water, or check out the following recipes for Flavored Simple Syrup or No-Cal Flavored Simple Syrup. Just a little goes a long way!

Essential oils and flavor extracts are another delicious water-enhancing option. After adding your water, fruit and herbs to the infuser, top it off with just a few drops of alcohol-free extract, lavender essential oil, or orange blossom water. Are your favorite ingredients out of season? No problem! Winter is a great time to try these flavor-boosting tricks. These natural additions can also be combined with fresh fruit and herbs to make surprising flavor combinations.

In addition to water’s unbeatable ability to hydrate, as well as added benefits like helping to cut down on your calorie intake, the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle can also be filled with water meant to soothe and relax, energize and boost metabolism, or even help with digestion and weight loss!

© 2014 One Savvy Life For digestion or to energize, try: ginger, cinnamon, fennel, cardamom, dill, cumin, caraway, or mint.

For relaxation, to promote sleep or to de-stress, try: basil, lavender, lemon balm, or chamomile.

For weight loss, to boost metabolism or to burn fat, try: ginseng, red chili or cayenne pepper, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, cumin, acai berry, green tea, or yerba mate.

Mix and match and find what’s right for you, whether it’s sleepy time or time to get up and dance. And as always, flavor rules! (The Savvy Infusion Water Bottle is in no way a medical device, and the results of consuming specific ingredients, though passed down by noted herbalists for generations, are in no way guaranteed.)

Hot beverages aid relaxation, so try adding a simple herbal teabag to your Savvy Infusion Water Bottle, and fill with hot water.

Looking for something a little more savory? Try fennel or beets, cilantro or cucumber, celery, cumin, caraway, a few peppercorns, or even horseradish. All of these vegetables, herbs and spices are simply DELICIOUS options for the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle! Keep in mind— strong-flavored spicy or aromatic ingredients should be added to the infuser in small amounts, because they may become overpowering. Try mixing one or two of the savory ingredients with fruit for a unique taste sensation.

© 2014 One Savvy Life This is a basic simple syrup recipe, meant to serve as a guide that will allow you to make a variety of flavors. Try using dried sour cherries or blueberries, a vanilla bean that you’ve sliced down the middle, green cardamom pods, star anise, or cinnamon sticks. You may choose to make a concentrated single-ingredient syrup, or you could create more elaborate flavor combinations using multiple ingredients. Your options are truly limitless!

If your finished product is less flavorful than you had hoped, add more of the flavoring ingredients to the mix next time. You may choose to strain out your flavoring ingredients before storing, or keep whole spices and dried ingredients in the syrup to intensify their flavors.

Sweeteners should be used in moderation, but making your own flavor allows you to choose exactly how much you’re adding to your beverage. Honey is a fantastic choice, since it offers some nutritive value in addition to sweetness.

© 2014 One Savvy Life Basic No-Cal Flavored Simple Syrup

Stevia is a calorie-free natural sweetener that’s derived from an herb of the same name. In powdered form, it’s actually 300 times sweeter than sugar! Use it to create sweet, flavored syrups that that can be added on their own or with fruit to the Savvy Infusion™ Water Bottle, creating the potential for infinite flavor combinations. Though popping a cinnamon stick in the infuser and adding cold water may yield just a hint of flavor, (totally fine if this is what you’re after!) adding a spice-flavored syrup to your water gives you the ability to intensify that taste sensation.

Follow the basic recipe for Flavored Simple Syrup, just replace the sweetener with 3 tbsp. of powdered stevia. The consistency of the resulting syrup will be a little thinner than what you’ll get using other types of sweeteners. No-Cal Flavored Simple Syrup also has a shorter shelf life, because it’s more likely to separate. Keep in the refrigerator for up to one week.
