Two other quotes that just serve me well, this is from Martin Luther King, Jr. We know going in that there's going to be some unusual games where players might be playing positions they've hardly ever played. Isn't it about time we turn that around? Race doesn't — white, black or different, it's not about that. When the Titans' game begins, they'll know whether they are at risk of elimination. Behavioral symptoms can also continue into adulthood. Ironically, however, self-care and -compassion might actually be needed most by those of us who work too hard and who are constantly striving to surpass ourselves and grasp the shape-shifting phantasm of perfection. For simplicity, we assume each game has an equally small chance of ending in a tie. And so those just help me a little bit sometimes to get through a day. Relationships — whether they last 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years, or a lifetime — are all opportunities to experience love on its many different levels. But it's not because teens aren't capable of deep loving. Use some of these mantras to get started. Giving, receiving, revealing, and supporting is a back-and-forth process: One person shares a detail, then the other person shares something, then the first person feels safe enough to share a little more. Week 16 Quick Reads - Football Outsiders Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong. We're in a sport that is unbelievably attractive, thriving. Medically reviewed by Debra Rose Wilson, Ph. After they recorded, it became the soundtrack for the lives of millions of s rock kids who, keen on the present yet suspicious of glam rock and disco , donned suede jackets and faded jeans to flirt with the California dream restyled as traditional Americana. Finding the right replacement for either would be difficult. They were obviously able to reschedule the game that they missed, but just coming together and taking a stand, I respect that fully, and we've had a history in our country of athletes, mostly independently from Muhammad Ali; John Carlos, the Olympics; the list goes on and on, all the way through recent times. Let's look what's really happened here. If you don't have any fans, do you have a ballpark figure of what that financial impact would be to the Eagles? The chance the Eagles make the playoffs if this happens. We want every franchise to be operated with the most integrity possible, and to have the best reputation in its community as possible, and to be change agents in every direction possible in their community, and role models. We should be similar to most countries on this planet, and yet we are an embarrassment and a tragic embarrassment. November 6, , Detroit, Michigan—d. I think that one thing I said in March in the statement that we made is that there is just so much pain, and there's so much pain both in our country and around the world, and obviously we're going through two terrible, terrible pandemics, one that's existed for the history of our entire country, the pandemic of systemic racism, violence to minorities, oppression, all that kind of activities that have been part of our history, and obviously the once-in-the-lastyears health pandemic that's been devastating, as well. They reconvened for two concerts in , with Deacon Frey standing in for his father and the addition of Gill. They do have an outside chance of getting the top spot, and the bye week that comes with it, but it would require two surprises in the form of Packers and Saints losses. I don't want to comment on another franchise. We haven't spoken to you since early July when WR DeSean Jackson had some social media posts citing quotes that were widely attributed to Hitler. That doesn't happen all the time, either, somebody we love and respect in this building, Harold Carmichael, and he's finally going to get an opportunity to enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and I just want to mention that, as well. That may account for some of the erratic behavior — passion mixed with anxiety, obsession and nervousness — that often goes along with blossoming love. Facebook Twitter. If we want to expect those that are committing violent acts against minorities, we have to try to get ourselves and others to completely open your heart because if you open your heart, you're not going to put your knee on someone's neck and let them expire. Bipolar I and II are types of bipolar disorder that involve manic and depressive episodes. Jim Schwartz won't be back, so a new coordinator is needed. These include a range of actions to increase the chances of more people experiencing better mental health, such as 15 Early childhood interventions for example, home visits for pregnant women and programs that help young children build social and emotional skills. As somebody who, whether it's our football team or any kind of analysis of policy, I'm for looking at the facts first, and I don't want to — you have to be as apolitical as possible. They're very, very detailed, and rightly so. The Saints are in the playoffs, probably as a No. Sometimes they simply occur at the same time. Married couples have been found to have lower rates of substance abuse , lower blood pressure and less depression than single peers. We all have de-stressing "secret weapons" that we pull out in times of tension or anxiety, whether they be photos that relax us or make us smile, songs that bring us back to our heart, quotes or poems that create a feeling of harmony or meditative exercises that help us find a sense of silence and calm. I think it's increasing, and it's really — it's eye-opening in a great way. Like putting all our energy into winning a race, this kind of passion is exhilarating but far too extreme to keep going forever. Such techniques are intimately linked with the habit of listening to yourself and your needs, as described above. The Eagles Way : The Importance of Love in Healthcare Writer An example of a psychotic disorder is schizophrenia. I've felt this for a long time, and I'm so glad that we're at a situation now where every day it can be paramount on everyone's minds and feel the pain, feel what's really taking place. I just hope everyone stays safe. That's from Chadwick Boseman as King of Wakanda. Where do you see the rest of the league in terms of have you seen a change in the way that they are viewing things, and do you think there is a stomach for the owners as a whole of trying to effect widespread change? But that's part of being a professional athlete. I think that the NFL probably didn't listen well enough to what he was really saying because I think that we could have, as a league, listened more. It's really, really important, though, I think, to feel the pain first and not anesthetize it. We know we've got a big home field advantage. Love is such a powerful human emotion that experts are constantly studying it. Voting has ramifications, everybody, as we know, and maybe it's taken some of us too long, myself included, to realize that, from lower down on the ballot to the highest levels. So, to replace this harsh inner voice with a kinder one, you can simply notice it — which is already a step toward quietly subduing it — and actively try to soften it. We learn the things we love about ourselves, the things we'd like to change, and the qualities and values we look for in a partner. Seymour provided one of the better feel-good stories for the Eagles in With proper diagnosis and treatment, most of those living with mood disorders lead healthy, normal and productive lives. • 55 Years of Country-Rock, 1965-Present
55 years of country-rock, 1965-present: Creating a new American musical genre--how two immensely popular genres of music merged to create a timeless style, uniquely American in every aspect. This class will cover the historically significant country-rock movement which started in LA in 1965 and spread across the country, changing the musical landscape of popular music. We will explore how two roots-oriented genres-- country music and rock and roll--borrowed from each other and merged to create a new genre which has since spawned many sub-genres, each with its own unique approach to country-rock. We will look at several artists and their key albums, including: The Byrds, the Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills and Nash, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, Poco, the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Steve Earle and others, as well as trends in instruments, arrangements and lyric-writing that made up the songs. • Roots Report: Grand Funk Railroad at Twin River
Roots Report: Grand Funk Railroad at Twin River Okee dokee folks… I went to see Grand Funk Railroad and former Eagles member Don Felder at Twin River last Friday night. These are my thoughts on the show. First of all, we were a bit late for the show. All week I had been thinking, “How are they going to squeeze two acts into the short timeframe that they usually have allotted for concerts at Twin River?” Well, the answer to my thoughts was that the show started at 7pm and I had forgotten to even check. So we missed Don Felder’s first few songs. When we arrived, Don Felder was already halfway through “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” I have to admit that I did not have high expectations for Don Felder’s set. I was curious as to what he was going to do. I watched the three and one half hour History Of The Eagles documentary a few times and have almost committed it all to memory. What I garnered from it was that Felder was bounced from the Eagles, Don Henley and Glen Frey didn’t really have positive things to say about him and that basically his main contribution to the band was that he was just a lead guitarist. Felder didn’t really have a booming solo career so I thought that he would just play just a very short set. I was wrong. From what I was able to ascertain from the woman sitting next to me, Felder had already played about five songs before we arrived.

  • Music Studies
Country Music Cultural and Historic Background Information Country music, also called country and western, is a style of American popular music that originated in rural areas of the South and West in the early 20th century. The term country and western music (later shortened to country music) was adopted by the recording industry in 1949 to replace the offensive label hillbilly music. Ultimately, country music’s origins lie in the ballads, folk songs, and popular songs of the English, Scots, and Irish settlers of the Appalachians and other parts of the South. In the early 1920s the traditional string-band music of the Southern mountain regions began to be commercially recorded, with Fiddlin’ John Carson garnering the genre’s first hit record in 1923. The vigour and realism of the rural songs, many lyrics of which were rather impersonal narratives of tragedies pointing to a stern Calvinist moral, stood in marked contrast to the often-mawkish sentimentality of much of the popular music of the day. More important than recordings for the growth of country music was broadcast radio. Small radio stations appeared in the larger Southern and Midwestern cities in the 1920s, and many devoted parts of their airtime to live or recorded music suited to white rural audiences. Two regular programs of great influence were the “National Barn Dance” from Chicago, begun in 1924, and the “Grand Ole Opry” from Nashville, begun in 1925. The immediate popularity of such programs encouraged more recordings and the appearance of talented musicians from the hills at radio and record studios. Among these were the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers, whose performances strongly influenced later musicians.
