Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education One Norman J Field Way Tinton Falls, New Jersey 07724-3299 JULY 31, 2017 MONMOUTH REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION ONE NORMAN J FIELD WAY TINTON FALLS, NEW JERSEY 07724-3299 REGULAR MEETING July 31, 2017 7:30 PM STATEMENT TO BE READ BY PRESIDING OFFICER: CALL TO ORDER Statement is hereby made that adequate notice of this meeting has been properly provided by the giving of a meeting notice, by mailing same to the Hub Newspaper, and Asbury Park Press on Thursday July 20, 2017, filing same on Thursday July 20, 2017, with the clerk of the Borough of Tinton Falls, Borough of Eatontown and the Township of Shrewsbury, and by prominently posting said notice on the Monmouth Regional High School Internet Web page and the main doors into the High School building in the Administration wing on Thursday July 20, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mr. Cohen President in the Schleig conference room with the following members in attendance: Mr. Gaetano Mr. Cohen Mr. Mauro Ms. Fisher Dr. Mayer Mr. Seavey Ms. Linder Andrew Teeple, Superintendent Maria Parry, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Mr. Barger, Esq. Board Attorney Absent Absent Absent Ms. Britton Ms. Van Wagner FLAG SALUTE I. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT – 1. Welcome Mr. Evans! - Mr. Brian Evans, Principal, thanked the Board of Education members for their support and relayed how excited he was to be named Principal of MRHS. 2. Superintendent’s Report – July 2017: Mr. Teeple updated the board members with the July 2017 activity 3. Board Goals and Objectives: Mr. Cohen discussed the upcoming retreat on 8/8/17 at Eatontown Borough Hall 4. Assistant Principal: Mr. Teeple reported that he had a recommendation for an Assistant Principal. On a recommendation of the Superintendent, motion by Mr. Seavey, seconded by Ms. Linder, and carried THAT: the Board approves the following: 1 JULY 31, 2017 Assistant Principal: The Board approve Mr. Salvatore Spampanato as Assistant Principal for the 2017-2018 school year at a salary of $105,000 plus benefits with a start date of August 14, 2017. Assistant Principal Roll Call Vote: All in Favor. Motion Carried. II. STUDENT COUNCIL REPORTS- none until September 2017 On a recommendation of the Superintendent, motion made by Mr. Gaetano, seconded by Mr. Seavey, and carried THAT: the Board approves the following: III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES- The following minutes: Emergency meeting June 16, 2017 Private Session June 16, 2017 Regular Meeting June 20, 2017 Private Session June 20, 2017 ITEMS MINUTES Roll Call Vote: Yes Seavey, Gaetano, Linder, Mayer (except June 16), Fisher (except June 16), Cohen; No: None; Abstain: Mayer (June 16 only), Fisher (June 16, only). Motion Carried. On a recommendation of the Superintendent, motion by Mr. Seavey, seconded by Dr. Mayer, and carried THAT: the Board approves the following: IV. FINANCIAL – A) Schedule of Bills The Pre Check Register dated June 30, 2017 in the amount of $487,385.19 (final June 2017 list of bills) be accepted and filed for audit. The Pre Check Register and current payment register dated July 20, 2017 in the amount of $516,707.84 (July List of Bills) be accepted and filed for audit. The payment register for June 2017 in the amount of $2,797,665.37. B) Board Secretary's Report The Board Secretary's Report for the month of June 2017 in the amount of $1,403,158.11 and in agreement with the Treasurer of School Moneys Report be accepted, filed for audit, attached to, and made part of the official minutes of this meeting. C) Treasurer Report The Treasurer of School Moneys Report for the month of June 2017 in the amount of $1,403,158.11 and in agreement with the Board Secretary's financial report be accepted, filed for audit, attached to, and made part of the official minutes of this meeting. D) Transfers The attached list of transfers, for the month of June 2017. 2 JULY 31, 2017 ITEMS A, B, C, D Roll Call Vote: All in Favor. Motion Carried. On a recommendation of the Superintendent, motion by Mr. Gaetano, seconded by Ms. Fisher and carried THAT: the Board approves the following: I. Board Secretary’s Certification Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11, I certify that as of June 30, 2017 no budgetary line item account has been overexpended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11. __________________________ _______________________________ Maria A. Board of Education Certification Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2-11, Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education certifies that as of June 30, 2017 after review of the Secretary's monthly financial report (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials that to the best of our knowledge no major account or fund has been overexpended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11 and that sufficient funds should be available to meet the district's financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.     NANCY WELCH WILLIAMS Class of 1966 COACH -1970 to PRESENT Nancy graduated from Shore Regional High School in 1966 and attended Trenton State College. Upon graduation, she returned to her alma mater and began one of the most storied and successful coaching careers in interscholastic history. Her outstanding record on the field along with her untiring efforts to bring equality to female athletics has been cited and awarded by many. Nancy began her Shore coaching career in 1970 and has been involved in the sports program ever since. She has been the head coach in field hockey, softball, basketball and track and has assisted in basketball and swimming. Her field hockey teams have achieved enormous success winning twenty-eight straight Division Titles, three Shore Conference Titles, thirteen Central Jersey Group Titles, and seven State Championships. She has coached seven AII-Americans and is the winningest field hockey coach in the United States with an overall record of 476-45-45. As a basketball coach, her teams were recognized as a shore power during the infancy years of girls basketball. She won two Shore Conference Championships and four Divisional Titles for a total of 205 wins. In softball, Nancy’s teams have had equal success since 1979 winning fourteen Divisional Titles, four Central Jersey Group Titles, three Shore Conference Titles, and a State Championship in 1988 while amassing 357 wins. As the head track coach from 1971-1974, her teams won three Divisional Titles, and a State Championship in 1972. Nancy has a won/loss record in all sports of 1073-250-45 and she has won nine overall State Championships, twenty Central Jersey Championships, fifty-two divisional Championships, and ten Shore Conference Championships.
