UPPER SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

LAPTOP COMPUTERS

Upper and Middle School students are required to provide their own computer in order to fully participate in all online classes. This is also required for all Upper School in-person classes. If Middle School students are attending in-person classes, Maharishi School can offer a Chromebook, if necessary.

Most teachers utilize Google Classroom and Google Docs for assignments and to manage their classes. Students may also be required to online videos.

Minimum Specs: ● 4 core processor ● 8 gb of RAM ● 256 gb solid state drive ● Webcam and microphone ● 14+ inch screen ● HDMI port

Medium Specs: If the student is interested in any graphic design, video games, video or photo editing, 3d simulation or rendering, an upgraded computer with a dedicated graphics card is necessary:

● GTX 1650 or similar with at least 2 gb of video ram ● Upgrade to 16 gb RAM

GRAPHING

Upper School students are also required to have a TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus graphing . These calculators will be used in all math classes as well as in physics. Integrating graphing calculators into the classroom allows for stronger math development and richer learning opportunities.

The graphing calculator can be purchased from Walmart or Target (both run sales for the TI-84 at this time of year) for $99, or from third party vendors in very good used condition for $50 and are also available new on Amazon for $81. They are a good investment and the industry standard and will be used throughout high school and into college.
