8 ST. JAMES’S SQUARE LONDON SW1 THE ONLY SQUARE IN ST JAMES’S View of the building from the square. WELCOME TO A NEW LANDMARK An exceptional location demands a building to match – this was the philosophy that inspired 8 St. James’s Square. Set in a prominent position on one of London’s pre-eminent squares, this building sets new standards in both architecture and quality of space. Perfectly in scale with the original grand townhouse façades that look onto the square. 8 St. James’s Square’s distinctive lines are illuminated at night, creating a dramatic presence at the gateway to the square. THE FINEST ADDRESS, THE FINEST OFFICES 8 St. James’s Square provides 65,534 sq ft (6,088 sq m) of the highest quality office space across eight open and expansive floors, with terraces on the upper floors offering the best views in St James’s and benefitting from natural light on three elevations. The stylish and welcoming reception is a celebration of refined design. In an echo of the site’s historic connection with Josiah Wedgewood, the space is now home to works by renowned Brazilian ceramicist Carina Ciscato. GENEROSITY OF SPACE The reception’s coffered ceiling elegantly flows through to the generously proportioned lift hall. Here, crisp white walls contrast with the curved jet-black surrounds of the four glass-backed lifts. OFFICES THAT WORK BEAUTIFULLY SECOND FLOOR Large open floor plates SECOND FLOOR The art glass feature windows overlooking Apple Tree Yard. THIRD FLOOR Column-free floors. SECOND FLOOR Efficient, bright offices. Emerging into sunlight, the lift bank is lined in distinctive Carrara marble. The ever-changing view. THE DETAILS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE Dark brickwork, hand picked and polished granite, glazed curtain walling, limestone, aluminium, hand-drawn glass and bronze perfectly combine to create an architectural delight. THE SCULPTOR STEPHEN COX Acclaimed sculptor Stephen Cox has created exquisite hand-carved stonework for the fabric of 8 St. James’s Square. Having worked in India for over a quarter of a century, he was the ideal artist to collaborate on a site so strongly connected to Sir Edwin Lutyens, who was himself known for his instrumental role in architectural design throughout New Delhi. THE ART GLASS Eric Parry’s concept for the distinctive projecting bay features ten patinated bronze framed windows to create a glazed elevation of subtle and flowing lines. The windows were detailed by John Crisfield of Sculpture Factory and incorporate around four hundred individually shaped pieces of glass. They were manufactured THE ARCHITECT by his team of skilled craftsmen at the company’s ERIC PARRY workshops in Somerset. Eric Parry Architects is an award-winning practice with a reputation for delivering diverse projects to the highest standards of design and detail. By gathering together talented individuals with a wide range of experience and cultural backgrounds, the team is able to operate successfully within any frame of reference. From London to the Far East. From historic and cultural to contemporary and commercial. Beautiful details inside and out give 8 St. James’s Square discrete visual strength. Although in perfect harmony with the square’s existing architecture, it is a statement building in its own right.
