Anthony Henday Drive and Stony Plain Road / 100 Avenue Interchange Project Construction Bulletin – September, 2010 Background On March 3, 2009, Alberta Transportation awarded KMC/PCL a Joint Venture the contract for the construction of the Anthony Henday Drive and Stony Plain Road / 100 Avenue Interchange (AHDSPR). The contract completion date is October 14, 2011. Once completed, the AHDSPR will include a major upgrade and widening of Anthony Henday Drive from Whitemud Drive to the CN overpass (+/- 118 Avenue). The interchange at Stony Plain Road / 100 Avenue will be a free flow systems interchange with no traffic signals. What is happening over the next few months? As you have already noticed we have been borrowing roadway embankment materials south of the Whitemud Drive, on the east side of the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC). We are going to continue to excavate and move the materials throughout the day as well as start a night shift operation to accelerate the project. We are hoping to start night hauling by the middle of this week and continue until mid October. Trucking access to the worksite will be from the Anthony Henday and not through the residential areas. The material borrowed from south of Whitemud Drive will be placed and compacted in a concentrated area on the East side of the TUC from Whitemud Drive to 87 Ave throughout the day and night. This material will be graded and seeded back to the existing landscaped conditions. Thank-You From the Project The Project has been active for 19 months and the progress has been great. We want to take this opportunity to thank the local residents for your patience and your support. We appreciate everyone following the speed limits, detours, and generally having patience for the inconveniences construction has placed on you.
