Martinez, CA 94553 Dear members of the Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Committee, On May 2, 2017, the Contra Costa County (CCC) Fish and Wildlife Committee generously awarded The Watershed Project $20,478 to begin a county-wide creek monitoring effort. June and July were spent purchasing equipment and standards, hiring four water quality monitoring interns, and training the interns and interested volunteers on the equipment. In August the interns began monitoring water quality in three additional creek watersheds, for a total of five watersheds total: San Pablo, Wildcat, Grayson, Walnut, and Marsh Creeks. We have spent a total of $13,983 on the project thus far, and due to other similar projects and budget constraints, we will have a hard time waiting until May 2018 for reimbursement. We ask that funds already spent on the project be reimbursed before the May 2018. The Watershed Project staff and steering committee thank the CCC Fish and Wildlife Committee for your continued support. We are very appreciative to obtain funding for this project, which has allowed us to expand our water quality monitoring program and provide environmental education opportunities to volunteers of all ages.
