NETHERLANDS - ISRAEL MATCH PRESS KIT Abe Lenstra, Heerenveen Sunday 10 June 2007 - 18:15CET Group A - Matchday 1 Contents 1 - Match preview 6 - Group statistics 2 - Team facts 7 - Competition facts 3 - Squad list 8 - Competition information 4 - Head coaches 9 - Tournament schedule 5 - Match officials 10 - Legend Match preview "The tension is rising," Netherlands coach Foppe de Haan said as he looked ahead to the opening game of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship against Israel on Sunday. A year since lifting the trophy in Portugal, De Haan has put the finishing touches on a new-look squad and is anxious to get back down to business. "Things have been going well, but now it's getting really exciting," he said. Homecoming The sun beat down on the Jong Oranje as De Haan put his players through a final training session in Langezwaag, a short hop from the Abe Lenstra Stadium which will host Sunday's opener and where De Haan made his name. "That's my stadium, I built it with my own hands," the long-time SC Heerenveen coach joked. Known simply as Foppe in these parts, the Fryslan native was born just 18km from the stadium and is very much at home here. Being hosts and holders, De Haan said, would not put undue pressure on his side. "It's very nice to play here and it's a big challenge," he said. "Now it's up to us." Secretive The Netherlands lost their first match this time last year, and De Haan insisted he would not be making the same mistake twice after "underestimating" Ukraine in Portugal.

  • Human Trafficking in and Through Football: Case Studies Involving “Fake Agents”
Human Trafficking in and through Football: case studies involving “fake agents” Background It is a well know fact that the game of football and the successes of its players have instigated a growing aspiration within youngsters all over the world. The need to develop such young talents have led to the recruitment young boys, and increasingly girls, in many parts of the Global South, namely on the African and Latin American continents. In the same light, it has also increased the motivation of traffickers to prey on aspiring young talents who often lack the opportunities that some of the peers in the Western world possess. In 2015, an article in the international press claimed that 15,000 young players were moved from West Africa yearly under false pretence.1 The hidden nature of the crime means that the number could be higher. In Belgium, 442 cases of ‘African soccer slaves’ were uncovered by Senator Jean Marie Dedecker when he exposed the illegal trade in Nigerian players within European football2. When moving alone to unknown places, children are always in danger of becoming victims of crimes like human trafficking and other forms of slavery. Illicit recruitment agents use the world of football to make money by faking contracts and luring young African players to migrate to Europe under illegal conditions, only to abandon them as soon as they can. Even though sometimes the athletes migrate through legal routes, they end up becoming illegal by overstaying their visas.3 In some cases, young people are given short-term visas and contracts for trials with clubs in Europe, entering the destination country even by airplane, often paid for by the hard-earned money borrowed or given to them by their immediate or extended families.

MBOTO** Felix E. OJONG*** • Ikwun ANGIATING**** lthough the role of sports in shaping/changing urban and regional Alandscapes through megalomaniac building of stadia, golf courses, among other spectacular artifacts have recently attracted tremendous academic research interests, sports’ role in improving collapsing health-care infrastructure in developing countries is poorly documented. Here, we show the potentials of football in multi-stakeholder mobilization for financing/ improving/ in urban health-care Nigeria using contributions towards heart diseases treatment by Kanu Heart Foundation and campaigns by Nigeria’s international footballers. Geo-demographic analysis of secondary data is applied to highlight inadequacy of healthcare in urban Cross River State, like of urban (like rural) Nigeria. How various diplomacy concepts could be employed by urban managements to mobilize sports-heroes, stakeholders (professionals: players, managers, clubs; civil society, etc) for fund-raising towards improving healthcare in Nigeria is described. The policy implication of this paper includes employing multi-dimensional diplomacy for managing multi-stakeholder urban sports and health development programmes as a means of surmounting the problem of inadequate funding for urban health * Institute

Palabras clave: estadísticas, futbol, historia, Liga de Campeones, Real MadridUEFA Abstract Keywords:Champions League, Statistics, Football, History, Real Madrid, UEFA Within our historical series on the UEFA Champions League we reach the 1999-00 season, won by Real Madrid CF.

  • Hamburger SV V Viking FK PRESS KIT
Hamburger SV v Viking FK PRESS KIT AOL Arena, Hamburg Thursday, 3 November 2005 - 18:30 local time Group A - Matchday 2 Something has to give at the AOL Arena as the two Group A winners from Matchday 1 meet looking to maintain perfect starts. Hamburger SV won their opening game 1-0 at PFC CSKA Sofia thanks to a Rafael van der Vaart goal, while Viking FK secured a fine home win against the 2004 UEFA Champions League finalists AS Monaco FC, Nkosinathi Nhleko scoring the only goal in another 1-0 success. •Despite beginning their European adventure in the 1960/61 season, Hamburg now face Norwegian opposition for the first time. The Bundesliga club (who qualified for this competition as one of the three UEFA Intertoto Cup winners along with RC Lens and Olympique de Marseille), are looking to complete a quartet of European trophies. •Hamburg have also won the 1976/77 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the 1982/83 European Champion Clubs' Cup. •However, they were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest FC in the 1979/80 European Cup final and lost 2-0 to AC Milan in the 1967/68 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final. The German side completed a hat-trick of losing major finals when they lost to IFK Göteborg in the 1981/82 UEFA Cup final, 4-0 on aggregate. •Viking have met German clubs in five previous ties in UEFA competition, and have come out on top only once, against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig, now VfB Leipzig but then of the East German league, with a win on away goals in the 1982/83 UEFA Cup first round.
