The yet-to-be-named calf, which is reportedly quite adept at hoofing soccer balls, has signed with FMFC on a lifetime contract. According to Forward Madison Managing Director Peter Wilt, the Flamingos’ new cow will help steer the club in the right direction. “Some people might say that this is just a cowllous publicity stunt, but we’re udderly prepared to milk it for all it’s worth,” Wilt said. “As a Wisconsin team, we wanted to pay homage to the proud heritage of the Wisconsin dairy industry, and although this may be a little cheesy, it’s the perfect way to do it.” The cow, which fans will have the opportunity to submit names for starting Monday afternoon, will feature in Forward Madison’s starting lineup photo on game days and be available for pictures with fans. When not at FMFC games, she will live year-round at Havens Petting Farm in Blue Mounds, WI, where she will be well taken care of by employees who have devoted their lives to the love of animals. “Adding a dairy cow to our regular matchday program raises the steaks for the fan experience at Breese Stevens Field,” Wilt said. “Forward Madison supporters are going to have pints of fun at our games, and we’re dairy excited to give them one more reason to come out.” Photo by Mike Terry, IG: @outdoormotive OPPONENT ROSTER TORONTO FC II TORONTO FC II 2019 ROSTER Number Name Pos. Shore, 48, has spent 25 years coaching throughout his career. He served as an assistant coach in Major League Soc- cer for the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake, as well as head coach positions in three lower division teams. Shore coached teams have qualified for the playoffs in 17 of his 23 professional seasons, including nine of his ten seasons in Chicago. In Chicago, Shore and Wilt worked together with Wilt serving as the MLS team’s President and General Manager. With the Fire, Shore earned three US Open Cup Championships, the 2003 MLS Supporters Shield and twice was an MLS Cup finalist. After leaving RSL, Shore served this past season as an assistant coach of the 2018 NPSL Champion Miami FC 2. He has a long history and deep passion for the game. Attending college at Birmingham-Southern, Shore started on the men’s soccer team from 1989-1993 as the goalkeeper. As a two-time NAIA All-American Shore was inducted into the Birmingham-Southern Athletic Hall of Fame. Following his collegiate career, Shore became an assistant at his alma mater for two years before signing on to play professionally with the Birmingham Grasshoppers. In 1994, he earned recognition for his play by being awarded Goalkeeper of the Year in the USISL. Following his stint with the Grasshoppers, Shore signed with the New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers where he served as an assistant coach as well as goalkeeper in 1995. By 1998, he became head coach of New Orleans. Shore led both New Orleans and expansion Lehigh Valley Steam to USL playoff runs. He joined Bob Bradley’s staff in Chicago as its goalkeeper coach in 2000. Just one year later Shore was promoted to assistant coach. By 2002, Shore had made a name for himself within the Fire organization and Wilt named him Director of Youth Development and Assistant Coaching Director of the Chicago Fire Juniors in addition to his first team coaching duties.
