The solar field ordinance that the Jefferson County Planning Commission has been refining for several months is now set for the first of three public hearings that it must undergo for adoption. This first hearing, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, will be conducted by the Planning Commission and held at the courthouse annex off South Water Street. In brief, the ordinance is an attempt to get ahead of the curve on solar collector systems and put in place minimum requirements for their approval before they begin locating in the county.
