Abstract: Sagediopsis pertusariicola dwelling on Pertusaria is described from the Russian Arctic. A revised description of Sagediopsis campsteriana is also provided; the species is confined to Ochrolechia. O. inaequatula is reported as a new host for the latter species. Introduction Sagediopsis (Sacc.) Vain. (Adelococcaceae Triebel, Verrucariales Mattick ex D.Hawksw. & O.E.Erikss.) is an exclusively lichenicolous fungal genus, which formerly comprised seven species (Index Fungorum 2008, LIAS names 2008). A specimen of Sagediopsis found on Pertusaria was first identified as Sagediopsis campsteriana (Linds.) D.Hawksw. & R.Sant. (Zhurbenko & Santesson 1996), a common fungus dwelling on species of Ochrolechia. However, examination of additional collections of Sagediopsis on Pertusaria has shown that they represent a distinct species, which is described here as new. A revised description of Sagediopsis campsteriana is also provided due to some discrepancies with literature data. Material and methods The material was examined by standard microscopic techniques using LOMO microscopes MBS-1, Mikromed-2 and Zeiss microscope Axio Imager A1 equipped with Nomarski differential interference contrast optics. Photographs were taken by Nikon Coolpix 5000 and AxioCamMR5 cameras. Microscopical measurements were made in water. Sagediopsis dissimilis Triebel is described as a new species and treated in detail. This lichenicolous fungus is confined to the lecideoid lichen Paraporpidia leptocarpa and occurs in Australasia. Sagediopsis is closely related to Adelococcus. Both genera are placed in a new family of the Verrucariales, Adelococcaceae Triebel. The family includes lichenicolous, non-lichenized taxa with persistent interascal filaments. 1. Introduction The order Verrucariales Mattick ex D. Hawksw. & 0. Eriksson includes until now only one family, the Verrucariaceae Zenker, which comprizes mainly lichenized ascortiycetes. It is characterized by globose, mainly clypeate and at least apically dark brown perithecioid ascomata. The hamathecial elements are confined to the ostiolar canal. The asci of the Vernicaria-type are broadly clavate, apically equally thick-walled and have constantly non- amyloid inner wall layers (see ERIKSSON 1981, Hawksworth & ERIKSSON 1986). The hymenial gel and the external ascus wall layer fi-equently turn red in Lugol's iodine solution. The majority of the c. 800 known Verrucarialean taxa develops two-biont lichen associations. Only a few lichenicolous lichens establishing three-biont associations are known (RAMBOLD& Triebel 1992, checklist C). Just recently, some groups of non-lichenized fijngi with lichenicolous, algicolous or hepaticolous life habit were placed in the order Verrucariales. These are the genera Endococcus Nyl., Merismatium Zopf, Muellerella Hepp ex Müll.

HODKINSON ABSTRACT. – A taxonomic scheme for lichens and allied fungi that synthesizes scientific knowledge from a variety of sources is presented. The system put forth here is intended both (1) to provide a skeletal outline of the lichens and allied fungi that can be used as a provisional filing and databasing scheme by lichen herbarium/data managers and (2) to announce the online presence of an official taxonomy that will define the scope of the newly formed International Committee for the Nomenclature of Lichens and Allied Fungi (ICNLAF). The online version of the taxonomy presented here will continue to evolve along with our understanding of the organisms. These are potential producers of novel bioactive compounds, but strains isolated on standard media usually represent only a minor subset of these fungi. By using various in vitro growth conditions we are able to modulate and extend the fraction of culturable lichen-associated fungi. We observed that the presence of iron, glucose, magnesium and potassium in growth media is essential for the successful isolation of members from different taxonomic groups. According to sequence data, most isolates besides the lichen mycobionts belong to the classes Dothideomycetes and Eurotiomycetes. With our approach we can further explore the hidden fungal diversity in lichens to assist in the search of novel compounds. On three different time-points during the two-week sea journey, the EEG and HRV were recorded from nine male scientists who participated in “The First Turkish Antarctic Research Expedition”. The recordings were performed in a relaxed state with the eyes open, eyes closed, and during a space quantity perception test. For the EEG recordings, the wireless 14 channel EPOC-Emotiv device was used, and for the HRV recordings, a Polar heart rate monitor S810i was used. The HRV data were analyzed by time/frequency domain parameters and ordinal pattern statistics. For the EEG data, spectral band power in the conventional frequency bands, as well as permutation entropy values were calculated. Regarding HRV, neither conventional nor permutation entropy calculations produced signiﬁcant differences for the different journey time-points, but only permutation entropy was able to differentiate between the testing conditions.

It is the first species of Megasporaceae to be discovered on the islands and only the seventh to be reported from South America. It is distinguished from other species of Aspicilia by the unusual secondary metabolite chemistry (hypostictic acid) and molecular sequence data. The collections of the new species support two lichenicolous fungi: Endococcus propinquus s. lat., which is new to the Falkland Islands, and a new species of Sagediopsis with small perithecia and 3-septate ascospores c. 18–20 × 4–5 μm, which is described here as S. epimalvinae. A total of 60 new DNA sequences obtained from species of Megasporaceae (mostly Aspicilia) are also introduced.
