These notes aim to cover only the discussion from the workshop itself. 1.2 Safety Moment about Cycling Scotland’s ‘Give space to people cycling’ campaign was presented by Catriona McGeechan. 2 Purpose of Workshop and Agenda 2.1 The presentation informed Stakeholders of work to date including project background and development which provoked discussion around proposed cross-section, crossings, online route options and associated opportunities. 3 Project Background 3.1 The East Airdrie Link Road (EALR) is a 9.5km two-way single carriageway between Newhouse and Stand/Riggend with an associated footway/cycleway. 3.2 The Overall Project Objectives were shared, and attention drawn to the two most relevant ones, i.e. Connectivity and Active Travel. 3.3 Stage 1 Assessment has been concluded. -

For the past 3 years, the council as a member of Climate Ready Clyde has participated in the development of an adaptation strategy and action plan for the City Region. The strategy’s purpose is to mitigate the risks arising from the local impact of climate change. The strategy covers a 10 year period with the action plan providing the activity up to 2025. It has a number of key priorities such as the regeneration of Ravenscraig, supported by interventions and flagship actions. Recommendations It is recommended that the Environment and Transportation Committee: 1) Recognise that adaptation is a key aspect of the council’s climate activity 2) Recognise the good work that council officers have facilitated and progressed in partnership with the membership of Climate Ready Clyde 3) Note the summary detail of the Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan 4) As a member organisation of Climate Ready Clyde, approve the implementation of the Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan (subject to GCR Cabinet approval) The Plan for North Lanarkshire Priority All priorities Ambition statement All ambition statements 1. Background 1.1 The council has recognised that achieving net zero emissions is a priority and this is reflected in the timeline to achieve this ambitious target (2030). While the council continues to progress this important activity, it needs to be aware of the harm already caused to the environment through historic emissions. -

Glasgow City Region City Deal Item 8(b) Cabinet 6th October 2020 Report by Director of Regional Economic Growth Contact: Jane Thompson Tel: 0141 287 5369 PMO Evaluation: North Lanarkshire Council – Outline Business Case – Ravenscraig Infrastructure Access (RIA) Purpose of Report: To report to the Cabinet on the evaluation of North Lanarkshire Council Outline Business Case (OBC) for Ravenscraig Infrastructure Access (RIA) Recommendations: It is proposed that the Cabinet: 1. note the content of this report; 2. note the PMO Appraisal, Project Risk Register and Project Risk Register are available on request from the Clerk; 3. approve this Business Case; 4. invite North Lanarkshire Council to proceed to prepare four Full Business Cases; 5. to approve the funding requirement of £4.2m to develop the four Full Business Cases; and 6. note the PMO will incorporate the information within the OBC within the Programme Business Case and Programme Plan. 1. Purpose 1.1. To report to the Cabinet on the evaluation of Outline Business Case (OBC) for Ravenscraig Infrastructure Access (RIA). 1.2. The submission of this business case for appraisal is considered as confirmation that North Lanarkshire Council approves the inclusion of this business case as part of the City Deal Programme as stated in the Glasgow City Region City Deal Assurance Framework 2019. 1.3. North Lanarkshire Council’s Planning and Regeneration department approved the submission of the OBC on 12th August 2020. On 27th August 2020, North Lanarkshire Council’s Enterprise and Growth Committee approved the OBC and the submission of this business case to the Programme Management Office for appraisal. -
Simd Analysis: Future Projections
SIMD ANALYSIS: FUTURE PROJECTIONS 1. Background and Introduction 1.1. This paper analyses the reasons behind the recent decline of deprivation in Glasgow, projects these trends towards 2015, and comments on their likely implications. It is based on a presentation made to the Community Planning Executive Group on 2nd June 2010, which itself came from a series of events held in autumn 2009/spring 2010, involving over 120 people from council and non- council organisations in Glasgow. 1.2. The gains Glasgow made in reducing its share of Scotland’s deprivation have been the result of long-term trends that have been operating over the last two or more decades. Identifying both the trends that led to the current situation, and those currently in operation which can reasonably be presented as being influential in Glasgow towards 2015, form the basis of the projections in this paper. The main indicator used has been the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), and the analysis of three waves (2004, 2006 and 2009) has been supported by the use of other indicators. Looking at the absence of deprivation as well as at areas defined by deprivation includes all communities and gives a rounded analysis of the city. 1.3. The trends that have shaped the city at present are long-term and have been in operation since the 1990s, if not earlier. It follows that trends that can be identified in the present day will be those that influence the city by 2015. Their general direction has been to accelerate Glasgow’s development to its current position as a representative medium-sized western European city. -

Glasgow City Region City Deal Guide to Information Available City Deal Publication Scheme The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (the Act) requires Scottish public authorities to produce and maintain a publication scheme. Authorities are under a legal obligation to: • publish the classes of information that they make routinely available • tell the public how to access the information and what it might cost. To comply with their obligations, the eight Member Authorities involved in the City Deal, including Glasgow City Council as lead authority, have each signed up to the Model Publication Scheme 2013 produced by the Scottish Information Commissioner. This scheme can be found on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website: http://www.itspublicknowledge.info/ScottishPublicAuthorities/PublicationSchemes/PublicationSchemeResources.aspx Whilst each Model Publication Scheme applies to all information published by each Member Authority, this Guide to Information relates specifically and only to information held by Glasgow City Council as Lead Authority in relation to the City Deal. The purpose of this Guide is to: • allow the public to see what information is available (and what is not available) in relation to the Glasgow City Region City Deal • state what charges may be applied • explain how to find the information easily • provide contact details for enquiries and to get help with accessing the information • explain how to request information we hold that has not been published Although we are not under a statutory obligation to publish a separate Publication Scheme for the City Deal, we have chosen to do so in order to demonstrate our commitment to transparency and accountability, and to make it as convenient as possible for City Deal information to be located. -

Award for Involving All in North Glasgow
ISSUE 45 HE way ng homes T works with and involves a Award for Involving all variety of people in hard to reach community groups has been recognised by a Good in North Glasgow Practice Award at TPAS Scotland’s recent Annual Conference. The Involving All award was presented to North Glasgow based ng homes who have involved a wide range of people and used their views to improve services and communities across the North of the city. In a tough category the runners up were Impact Arts and Viewpoint Housing Association. CEO of ng homes Robert Tamburrini said: “Working in partnership with others to look at ways of working ‘with and for’ our residents we are constantly looking for, and acting on, opportunities to get people and organisations together and this year we have continued to build on our commitment to further develop our relationships with minority groups.” With a multi-cultural mix of residents ng homes takes a proactive and sustained approach to ensure they meet the needs of the groups and also ensure that their voices are heard as part of influencing and delivering on services. ng homes has made positive connections with African and Chinese communities, recognising the diverse ethnic and cultural make-up of the area and they have carried out a range of Integration events. The RSAs are intended as a resource that can be used to identify regional strengths and any issues or mismatches arising, and so inform thinking about future planning and investment at a regional level. 1.2 The development and coverage of RSAs The content and geographical coverage of the RSAs was decided by a steering group comprising Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Funding Council and extended to include the Scottish Local Authorities Economic Development Group during the development process. It was influenced by a series of discussions with local authorities and colleges, primarily about the most appropriate geographic breakdown. -
South Lanarkshire M74 Local Strategic Routes
South Lanarkshire M74 local strategic routes Advanced traffic direction signs have been erected to reflect the recommended routes for drivers wishing to access the M74 Completion from either the Cambuslang or Rutherglen area. The following descriptions can be read in conjunction with the local strategic route plan, below. Polmadie Road Junction (Yellow Route) is recommended for drivers accessing the M74 generally from the west of Main Street (Rutherglen) and adjacent areas such as Bankhead, Fernhill and Spittal. • Vehicles should access onto Mill Street (A730) and progress in a northerly direction passing the junction with Main Street, Rutherglen and onto Glasgow Road (A730). Vehicles should continue northwest along Glasgow Road becoming Rutherglen Road (A730) and proceed until it meets the new M74 junction at Polmadie Road. Cambuslang Road Junction (Orange Route) is recommended for drivers accessing the M74 generally from the east of Main Street (Rutherglen) and west of Main Street (Cambuslang) and adjacent areas such as Cathkin, Eastfield, Farmecross, High Burnside and Whitlawburn. • Due to the planned prohibition of ‘Right Turns' into Farmeloan Road for westbound vehicles using Main Street (Rutherglen), vehicles using this section of Main Street should instead travel east along Main Street (B768) towards Richmond Laundry roundabout. Vehicles should then turn left into Cambuslang Road (A724) and continue in a northwest direction to meet the Cambuslang Road Junction. • Vehicles to the north of the M74 should access onto Cambuslang Road (A724) and progress in a southeast direction until it meets the Cambuslang Road Junction. • Vehicles travelling from the south west of the Cambuslang Road Junction should access onto East Kilbride Road/Stonelaw Road (A749) and progress in a northerly direction passing below the M74.
