  • Summary of Project
SUMMARY OF PROJECT Dumduma – Pengri Block OIL INDIA LIMITED (OIL), a Government of India Navaratna Enterprise, is currently engaged in carrying out exploration, development and transportation activities in its operational areas in Upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram in the North Eastern part of India for petroleum exploration. OIL is also undertaking hydrocarbon exploration activities in few other Indian states and few overseas countries. Govt. of India and Assam has awarded Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) for exploration and development of oil & gas to Oil India Limited in Tinsukia districts. The area consists parts of Mechaki PML, Borhapjan PML, Dumduma PML and Digboi PML and is located towards the north-eastern part of OIL’s operational area of Upper Assam. Wells in Mechaki area have encountered depths of 5636 m and also encountered three prospective sand ranges within Langpar and Lakadong+Therria Formations. All these three sands were tested and commercial oil / gas was established. The area also includes parts of Borhapjan, Samdang, Dirak and Duarmara areas. The wells drilled within the periphery area are mainly for Palaeocene/Eocene {Lakadong+Therria (LK+TH) & Langpar}, Oligocene (Barail) and Miocene (Tipam) prospects. Out of these Palaeocene/Eocene prospects, oil discovery has been made from wells Borhapjan 1-5 and Samdang-3, but sustainable production could not be established. Hydrocarbon accumulations were also established from smaller structures of Samdang and Duarmara area from Tipam and Barail.
