Government Defeat in Lords on Immigration Bill Tuesday 15/03/2016 On 15/03/2016 the government had a defeat in the House of Lords on an amendment to the Immigration Bill: To insert a clause to limit the period of detention in immigration removal centres without judicial oversight to a maximum of 28 days, or 28 days in aggregate, with possible extension by a court in exceptional circumstances. This was defeat number 30 in the parliamentary session.
