The Honourable Prithviraj Dajisaheb Chavan Chief Minister Rm 604 (Main), Sixth Fl, CM Office Mantralaya Mumbai 400 032 Maharashtra Dear Chief Minister, We are so deeply concerned about the welfare of the horses used to pull carriages in Mumbai that we felt compelled to interrupt our Jism 2 promotion schedule to join our friends at PETA in imploring you to put an immediate stop to cruel horse-drawn carriage rides in Mumbai. The Bombay High Court’s recent decision to have non-governmental organisations and the Animal Welfare Board of India bring ill and injured horses to the Executive Health Officer’s attention so that they can receive veterinary care only to be put back on the streets, where they will become ill and injured again, will just keep the horses in a perpetual cycle of suffering. Forcing horses to haul carriages in Mumbai is inherently cruel, as the horses routinely collapse from exhaustion. They’re also a traffic nuisance, and people have even died from accidents caused by horse-drawn carriages. It is high time to put horse carriages out to pasture – for good. PETA investigators have documented how horses used to pull carriages in Mumbai are forced to stand for hours, given no protection from the scorching-hot sun or driving rain and beaten and whipped in order to force them to work when they are exhausted. The horses are often malnourished and are fed unhealthy food and given dirty drinking water – if they receive any food or water at all. The illegal stables they are kept in are often damp, filthy, filled with accumulated faeces and urine and swarming with flies and other biting insects. The only humane solution for the horses is a permanent ban on forcing them to haul carriages. Along with growing numbers of concerned people, we hope to hear soon that you will be working to implement a ban on horse-drawn carriage rides throughout Mumbai. It is assumed that after 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, which are known as 26/11, conflicts between Hindus and Muslims have escalated. Since Indian people are extreme fans of movies, especially Bollywood movies, in this regard, it is expected that media could play a significant role in increasing or alleviating the conflicts by influencing people’s attitudes and opinions. This research seeks to examine the extent and modality of the representation of Hindu-Muslim relationships in Bollywood after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The study was conducted through a content analysis of 11 Bollywood movies, which were selected from 70 Muslim-characters-based movies. Favorable, unfavorable, neutral and unclear were the four factors through which the movies’ contents were analyzed. The overall analysis of these factors indicate that 66.17% of the scenes were favorable, 14.70% were unfavorable, 2.94% were neutral, and 16.17% presented unclear images of Hindu-Muslim relationship in Bollywood movies.

Her entry into popular Indian reality shows Big Boss 5 (2011) and Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt’s offer of Jism 2 on that show made a cultural shock to the nation’s moral fabric that sparked protest throughout the country by social conservatives. This article aims to map the success of adult star Sunny Leone in Bollywood and the acceptance of porn star in the conservative society. I will analyze, how the film industry exploited the sex image of her and vice versa. I have chosen Sunny Leone’s three films Jism 2 (Pooja Bhatt, 2012), Ragini MMS (Bhushan Patel, 2014), and Mastizaade (Milap Milan Zaveri, 2016) to discuss the sexual pleasure on screen, double entendre and the objectification of women body. So, there is an absolute question of sexism in the selection process. The website change.org came up with the headline ‘Where are the Female Directors’ created quite a stir among the festival goers. Cannes is a ‘popular’ festival besides being overtly artistic. Its popularity is often intertwined by the ‘red carpet’ agenda. Women are all over but in a lesser & frivolous way. There is 1 mostly no ‘brains’ involved. The problem does not only lie in the conspicuous absence of films by the women film makers in the official competition of Cannes but also the severe dearth of women film makers in the whole world. This does raise an eye brow? It is kind of difficult to believe that no films from female directors was worthy of inclusion. May be the festival does not want to see a feminist point of view.
