Natalie Spooner, Olympic Champion Natalie Spooner, Olympic Champion Targeting: Pyeonchang 2018 Event: Women’s Hockey Date of birth: October 17, 1990 Hometown: Scarborough, Ontario Travels from: Toronto, Ontario Site: www.nataliespooner.com Languages: English/French Athletic Highlights: • 2014 Olympic Gold Medal • 2014 Participant, The Amazing Race Canada • 2014 Clarkson Cup Champion • 2012 IIHF World Champion • 2012 NCAA All-American, Ohio State University Buckeyes Background: Natalie Spooner’s hockey story – from her backyard rink to Canada’s national women’s team – is deeply Canadian. Her parents Peter and Ann-Marie immigrated from England and began looking for a typically-Canadian sport for their three sons to play as they readied for their the first, long winter in Ontario. Hockey was the perfect fit. And by the time Natalie came along there were plenty of hand-me-down sticks and skates and three older brothers ready to test her skills, toughness and determination on their makeshift rink. From organized hockey in Ontario and then Ohio State University, she developed her scoring touch while earning a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and splitting time with Canada’s national team. A true power forward with incredible speed and strength, Natalie holds the all- time OSU goal-scoring record, was named a 2012 NCAA All-American and was a Patty Kazmaier finalist for the top player in NCAA Division 1. Drafted into the burgeoning CWHL in 2012 by her hometown team, the Toronto Furies, Natalie refocused on her big goals – winning the CWHL’s Clarkson Cup and capturing gold for Canada in Sochi 2014. Her breakthrough came in the semi-final against Switzerland when she scored two goals, and the eventual game winner, in a 3-1 victory that sent Canada to the now-part-of-hockey-history final against the USA. Returning home with an Olympic gold medal, Natalie laced up for the CWHL’s Championship scoring the only goal in the shootout to become the first woman to win both the Clarkson Cup and the Olympics in the same year. Only a few months into the best year of Natalie’s young life and she had already accomplished two epic goals. What could possibly be next? The Amazing Race Canada came calling after watching the dramatic Olympic Final and Natalie Spooner joined teammate and two-time Olympic Champion Meaghan Mikkelson in a round-the-world adventure on the most-watched summer show in Canada. Outside of hockey Natalie is an avid volunteer, having served on the Hockey Canada Women’s High Performance Advisory Committee and has also supported the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games as an Ambassador, the Toronto 2012 Ontario Summer Games, the Playing for Keeps program, the Race for the Cure and local Community Kitchens. • Thank You & Campaign Results
THANK YOU & CAMPAIGN RESULTS HHTH.COM | #STAYTHEPUCKHOME ABOUT THE STAY THE PUCK HOME CAMPAIGN FROM HOCKEY HELPS THE HOMELESS & BARDOWN HOCKEY Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) was forced to put their pro- am tournament season on hold, which bring in much-needed dollars to homeless support agencies and shelters across Canada. However, just because the pandemic put the rest of the world on pause, the need for support and funding for homeless and at-risk Canadians did not stop. In fact, it is only growing. For homeless and at-risk Canadians, the realities of the novel coronavirus are much different. They are at a much higher risk of contracting infections, chronic illnesses or compromised immune systems, making them extremely vulnerable to the virus and many lack the access to the supplies and infrastructure needed to maintain their health. Shelters and front-line workers working through the pandemic are in desperate need of funds since COVID-19 has put a tight strain on their budget and resources. They face an increase in demand from their clients, and a decrease in charitable giving from sponsors and their donors. Even though we are currently unable to host tournaments, everyone at HHTH still wanted to find a way to help. In order to do so, we teamed up with Bardown Hockey to create an exclusive, limited edition clothing line called “Stay The Puck Home” to support Canada’s homeless. 100% of net proceeds from the sale of the $25 t-shirts and $50 hoodies went to our charity partners from coast-to-coast.

Joint NHL/CWHL Canadian Championship The Concept This three-city* Canadian hockey championship would see women’s CWHL teams and men’s NHL teams from Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary visit each other for afternoon, evening doubleheaders to be played at the Air Canada Centre, Bell Centre and Scotiabank Saddledome respectively. These games would take place during the on-going regular seasons of both leagues.
