    Volume : 5 | Issue : 12 | December-2016 ISSN - 2250-1991 | IF : 5.215 | IC Value : 79.96 Original Research Paper Zoology Avifauna of Suburb of Mumbai, Palghar, Maharashtra Department of Zoology, S.D.S.M. College, Palghar-401404(M.S.), R. B. Singh India. In this paper an attempt is made by the author to quantify the results of his survey of the avifauna from the Palghar. Palghar is the suburb of Mumbai and fast growing semi-industrial city located about 90 kilometers north of Mumbai. This area is surveyed for avifauna in the last 20 years through the nature trails. The author has recorded 67 species of birds belonging to 12 Orders and 33 Families. The Order Passeriformes was found dominant having 16 families and 33 bird species. In the families the family Muscicapidae, Ardeidae and Accipitridae were found dominant with seven, six and six species respectively. In this paper an attempt is being made to enumerate the beautiful avifauna and to make authorities aware specially town planners about the rich heritage of this area and to plan scientifically the management of this fast growing ABSTRACT suburb. The Act extends to the whole of India and reaffirms the sov- ereign rights of the country over its biological resources. Subsequently, the Government of India published Biological Diversity Rules, 2004 (15th April, 2004). The Rules under section 22 states that ‘every local body shall constitute a Biodiversity Management Com- mittee (BMC’s) within its area of jurisdiction’. The main function of the BMC is to pre- pare People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) in consultation with the local people. The Reg- ister shall contain comprehensive information on availability and knowledge of local bio- logical resources, and their medicinal or any other use. It is a confidential document, due to the inclusion of traditional knowledge associated with the usage of biodiversity. Vasai-Virar is the fifth largest city in Maharashtra according to 2011 census. It is located in Palghar district, ca. 50km north of Mumbai. The city is located on the north bank of Vasai Creek, part of the estuary of the Ulhas River. Benefits to the client: The PBR documents also record people’s knowledge of potential commercial applica- tions, and it is essential that measures be instituted to appropriately protect their intellectu- al property rights. Matkar Principal, Patkar-Varde College, Mumbai (India) Abstract This study examines the relationship between climate change and undernourishment and its negative impact on child health. The focus of this study is Palghar District (which was formed on August 1, 2014, in State of Maharashtra, India). This paper examines the efficacy of the role of healthy government initiatives and their awareness among people in overcoming the adverse effects of climate-change. The study is based on interviews with the District Collector, various government officials and anthropologists working in the area, as well as secondary data collected from the Palghar District Collectorate. As the data made available by the government were limited, the study is unable to supply extensive information about such aspects as the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, project costs and cost analysis. Palghar district has reported 64 per 1000 child deaths and 44 per 1000 infant deaths between April and October, 2016. The researcher tried to find links between various potential variables and child mortality in this administrative region. The researcher hopes that by giving voice to a localised issue and discussing possible solutions for curbing the problem of child mortality due to undernourishment, it may be possible to find a long-term and comprehensive model for a solution for the same problem around the world. Mahale Department of Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Dr. B.S.K.K.V., Dapoli- 415 712, Maharashtra, India Abstract: Present research work was carried out on soil erosion and crop productivity loss in Palghar and Thane districts. The study also describes tolerable soil loss and relationship between top-soil loss and yield loss. The estimated average annual soil loss was 40.45 t ha-1yr-1 before adoption of the soil and water conservation measures (by USLE method) and estimated average tolerable soil loss was 9.36 t ha- 1yr-1, for Palghar district. Similarly, the estimated average annual soil loss and tolerable soil loss were found to be 35.89 t ha-1yr-1 and 9.61 t ha-1yr-1, respectively for Thane district. The estimated average conservation practice factor (P) factors were obtained as 0.32 for Palghar district and 0.30 for Thane district to bring the soil loss below the tolerable limit. The Board of Directors at its meeting dated 24th February 2014, granted its "in-principle" approval to the consolidation by way of amalgamation of erstwhile GSPC Gas Company Limited ("GSPC Gas"), erstwhile Gujarat Gas Company Limited ("GGCL"), erstwhile Gujarat Gas Financial Services Limited ("GFSL") and erstwhile Gujarat Gas Trading Company Limited ("GTCL") with Gujarat Gas Limited ["the Company" (Formerly known as GSPC Distribution Networks Limited)] through a High Court approved Composite Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement (“Scheme”). The Board at its meeting held on 21st April 2014 approved the Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement. These groves have enjoyed complete immunity from human interference. Due to firm belief and mystic folklores nobody dares to commit any offence which will disturb the sanctity of the forest spirit. Original Thane district is recently divided into Thane and Palghar. It has rich floristic diversity in Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Wada, Murbad and Jawhar areas which is a hilly tract. The local tribal people are preserving sacred groves along with forest for conservation of biodiversity which is a part of their life. The survey of 8 sacred groves from Jawhar taluka of Palghar district was carried out and was recorded floristic diversity.
