Archdeacon J PROCEEDINGS of the Annual General fleeting The Annual General Meeting of the Society was held on January, 23rd 1903. There were present : —Right Reverend Bishop Hose, Hon'ble W. R. Collyee, Dr. Hanitsch, A. Knight, H. Eschke, A. D. Machado, Yen. Archdeacon Dtjnkeeley,. W. G. St. Claie, J. A. Robeets, Esq., Dr. Galloway, H. N;S Ridley. The minutes of the last Annual General meeting were read and confirmed. The Annual Report of the Council and the Treasurer's report were laid on the table and their adoption moved by W. G. St. Claie seconded by Dr. Galloway, subject to the audit- ing of the Accounts which was undertaken by Mr. KNIGHT, as proposed by the Ven. Archdeacon Dunkeeley and seconded by H. Eschke. The Secretary read the draft of a letter of congratulation to the China Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society which was adopted unanimously by the meeting'. The President then proposed a vote of thanks to the Secretary and Treasurer which was carried unanimously. — Annual Report for 1902 The Council are gratified to report that the financial condi- tion of the Society continues to be very satisfactory. The following new members have been elected since the last Annual General Meeting: Rev. E. Gomes. Me. H. E. Byene. Me. H. Walter Bourke. Me. J. W. Simmons. Me. H. Marriott. Me. G. Laws. Dr. Gimlette. Me. F. J. Skertchley. Me. E. C. H. Wolfe. Mr. W. D. Grandjean. Me. C. Curtis. Me. D. Beattie. De. Galloway. Two numbers of the Journal, Nos. 37 and 38, were published during the year. The supply of material for publication, how- ever, was as observed in the last Annual Report, still scanty, and it is hoped that members who have any opportunity of sending in notes or observations on the subjects in which the Society is interested will do so. The Council regret to have to record the death of a mem- ber, Mr. J. P. Joaquim, F. E. G. S. A number of books, papers and journals were added to the library. The Librarian is re-arranging the library and hopes to have a catalogue of it ready shortly. " G-unong Benom is the name usually given to the " massif which lies in Ulu Pahang in the centre of the triangle the western side of which is formed by the Pahang Trunk Road running- from Tranum through Tras and Raub to Kuala Lipis, the Eastern by the Jelai and Pahang rivers running' from Kwala Lipis to Kwala Semantan, and the southern by the Tranum-Bentong road and the Bentong and Semantan rivers which latter river joins the Pahang- at Kwala Semantan. The name Benom is used by the Malays on the Pahang river but seems unknown at Raub. The mountain is a very conspicuous object from the Raub Rest House. Its height has been fixed trigonometrically by observations from the Perak and Selangor borders at about 6800 feet. In July 1900 an experienced mandore Che Musa was sent from Perak by Mr. Young, the present head of the F. M. S. Trigonometrical Survey to erect trigonometrical beacons at this and other points in Pahang. Difficulties having arisen I, in the middle of August undertook the work on Benom. Che Musa was then in Raub having reached what he took to be the top of the mountain and done some clearing there. He had returned for supplies but was unable to get any men to go back with him. With the assistance of Mr. Mason the Asst. District Officer at Raub I managed to collect 17 men on a promise of wages at 70 cents a day and food. The food I had the least hesitation in promising as I knew by experience that a Malay who goes into the jungle on board-wages invariably runs out of stores and has to return for more at the precise moment when work is most pressing and disagreeable. With these men Che Musa went back. On the 29th of August he met me again at Raub and reported that he had built a camp two days R. A. Soc, No. 39, 1903. 2 A TRIP TO GUNONG BENOAf. march towards the Mountain and had carried to it half of the trigonometrical beacon and eight tins of rice. I had had all the rice soldered down in clean kerosine tins. The plan answered admirably. Each rice-coolie made a frame work like that of a knapsack on which to lash the tins and fitted it with straps of bark through which to pass his arms and carried in this way five and a half gantangs of rice (roughly the contents of a tin) rode comfortably, no time was wasted in packing and opening bundles, and most important of all —the rice kept perfectly without any of the usual trouble in preserving it from wet. I was now ready to start and on arranging for my party found that the beacon (it was made of iron) needed a total of 22 men to carry it ; more men were of course needed to carry rice for the beacon-carriers ; I was very anxious to take sufficient food to last the whole party until the station had been cleared and the beacon fixed. I engaged therefore 32 coolies, all were Malays and but one or two were foreign Malays—Kelantan and Tringganu men. As they assured me that the mountain was infested with peculiarly vicious ' hantu' I engaged a ' pawang ' one Wan Putih. He was recommended to me as a powerful exorcist who feared no 'hantu' whatever. In fact he was I was told perhaps a little too rough in the way he dealt with them.

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract The Braconinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) species recorded from Turkey are listed, the present total number being 195. Changes with respect to the previous Turkish fauna are briefly annotated and the distributions for all the species in each of the 68 biogeographical provinces are presented. After the publication of our previous fauna, 173 species have been re- corded as new to Turkey. Of these, 96 species are distributed only in Asian Turkey and 14 species are distributed only in European Turkey, while 85 species occure in both. The presented checklist covers synonyms, zoogeographical region(s), hosts, host plants of host species and parasitoid data for the species. In total, 195 species belonging 9 genera are reported for the studied regions of Turkey. The number of species of each genus is represented by: Atanycolus Foester, 1862: 4, Baryproctus Ashmead, 1900: 1, Bracon Fabricius, 1804: 149, Ceratobracon Telenga, 1936: 1, Coeloides Wesmael,1838: 2, Glyptomorpha Holmgren, 1868: 7, Iphiaulax Foerster, 1862: 9, Pseudovipio Szépligeti, 1896: 9, Vipio Latreille, 1804: 13 species. Bracon (Asiabracon) amaculatus Beyarslan, 1988 is synonymized with B. (A.) quadrimaculatus Telenga, 1936.     FORESTGEO ARTHROPOD INITIATIVE ANNUAL REPORT 2018 Program coordinator: Yves Basset, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), [email protected] I. BACKGROUND AND PARTICIPATING FORESTGEO SITES The ‘Arthropod Initiative’ of the Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS) aims at monitoring key arthropod assemblages over long-term and studying insect-plant interactions over the network of the Forest Global Earth Observatories (ForestGEO, https://forestgeo.si.edu/research-programs/arthropod-initiative). The Initiative integrates with ongoing monitoring of plant dynamics within the ForestGEO network, causes minimum possible impact to the plots and focus on a priority set of assemblages chosen for their ecological relevance, taxonomic tractability and ease of sampling. At each participating ForestGEO site, the first years of the program are usually devoted to a ‘baseline’ survey. The baseline survey is followed by longer-term programs of field work and analysis, organized into two main sub-programs: monitoring, and key interaction studies. The monitoring sub-program is directed to detecting long-term changes, as reflected in priority assemblages, driven by climatic cycles, climatic change and landscape scale habitat alteration. Monitoring protocols are derived from those used during the baseline survey. The food web approach of interaction studies targets interactions between plants and specific insect assemblages, with different protocols than those used for monitoring. So far, the Arthropod Initiative involves nine ForestGEO sites: Yasuni in Ecuador, Barro Colorado Island (BCI) in Panama, Rabi in Gabon, Khao Chong (KHC) in Thailand, Tai Po Kau (Hong Kong), Dinghushan and Xishuangbanna (XTBG) in China, Bukit Timah in Singapore and Wanang (WAN) in Papua New Guinea. At BCI, four full-time research assistants were in charge of arthropod monitoring protocols in 2018: Filonila Perez, Ricardo Bobadilla, Yacksecari Lopez and Alejandro Ramirez.

    The Provider-Based Evaluation (ProBE) 2014 Preliminary Report I. Background of ProBE 2014 The Provider-Based Evaluation (ProBE), continuation of the formerly known Malaysia Government Portals and Websites Assessment (MGPWA), has been concluded for the assessment year of 2014. As mandated by the Government of Malaysia via the Flagship Coordination Committee (FCC) Meeting chaired by the Secretary General of Malaysia, MDeC hereby announces the result of ProBE 2014. Effective Date and Implementation The assessment year for ProBE 2014 has commenced on the 1 st of July 2014 following the announcement of the criteria and its methodology to all agencies. A total of 1086 Government websites from twenty four Ministries and thirteen states were identified for assessment. Methodology In line with the continuous and heightened effort from the Government to enhance delivery of services to the citizens, significant advancements were introduced to the criteria and methodology of assessment for ProBE 2014 exercise. The year 2014 spearheaded the introduction and implementation of self-assessment methodology where all agencies were required to assess their own websites based on the prescribed ProBE criteria. The key features of the methodology are as follows: ● Agencies are required to conduct assessment of their respective websites throughout the year; ● Parents agencies played a vital role in monitoring as well as approving their agencies to be able to conduct the self-assessment; ● During the self-assessment process, each agency is required to record

Introduction Mr Brus Isua, the former field assistant of the second author in Papua New Guinea observed a braconid specimen on Ficus-species syconia in the Ohu Conserva- tion Area, Madang. Later, Braconidae were reared from these figs as well as from figs collected in East New Britain (Papua New Guinea) by the second author. An associa- tion of Braconidae with Ficus syconia is very uncommon and is up to now only known for the genus Psenobolus Reinhard, 1885 (subfamily Doryctinae Foerster, 1862) which has been reared from figs in Brazil (Reinhard, 1885) and Costa Rica (Ramirez & Marsh, 1996).

The survey was conducted in the southwest region of Malaysia known as Melaka. The survey covers three 272 International Journal of Electronic Commerce Studies districts; Alor Gajah, Jasin, and Melaka Tengah. A total of 957 respondents were interviewed, and 953 participated in the OMIS survey. 50% of the total respondents are from Alor Gajah and Jasin, where each district contributed 25% of the respondents, and the other 50% are from Melaka Tengah. The analysis of this survey is evidence of the users’ acceptance when about 64.5% of 957 respondents provided positive responses about the proposed system. However, several concerns arose from the respondents, particularly in terms of the levels of security and privacy in the system that need to be focused on in a later study.

Introduction Braconinae is a large subfamily of cyclostomes group of parasitic wasps in the family Braconidae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonoidea). They constitute more than 2900 described species that are mostly tropical and subtropical (YU et al. 2012). Members of this subfamily are often black, red, orange and/or white in colours. They are small to medium-sized insects, characterized by their concave labrum, absence of epicnemial carina, absence of occipital carina, females have extended ovipositor (SHARKEY 1993).

The Braconinae is a large subfamily of moderately small to large wasps with more than 2000 described species and almost 200 genera worldwide (Shaw and Huddleston, 1991). They are most diverse in the Old World tropics but are also well represented in the New World. Comparatively few studies have been made on the New World fauna. Many New World species are included under the generic names Iphiaulax Förster (a genus that in reality has an entirely Old World distribution), Ipobracon Thomson (a junior synonym of Cyanopterus Haliday), or Bracon Fabricius, with Iphiaulax and Bracon (=Microbracon Ashmead) used in a far wider sense than they are today. Many of these species have subsequently been reclassified by Quicke (1988a, 1989a, 1991) and Quicke and Genise (1994) mostly into Digonogastra Ashmead. The aberrant Neotropical genus Gnathobracon Costa was redescribed and transferred formally from the Rogadinae to the Braconinae (Quicke and Huddleston, 1991). Several new genera have been described recently by Shenefelt (in Mason, 1978), Quicke (1988b, 1989b, 1994, 1995), van Achterberg (1989), Quicke and Sharkey (1989), and Quicke and Delobel (1995). PHYLOGENY. Belshaw et al. (2001) conducted a phylogenetic analysis on a limited number of genera using morphological characters. The subfamily needs a comprehensive analysis based on sequence data.
