  • Vina Croatia
Wines of CROATIA unique and exciting Croatia as a AUSTRIA modern country HUNGARY SLOVENIA CROATIA Croatia, having been eager to experience immediate changes, success and recognition, has, at the beginning of a new decade, totally altered its approach to life and business. A strong desire to earn quick money as well as rapid trade expansion have been replaced by more moderate, longer-term investment projects in the areas of viticulture, rural tourism, family hotels, fisheries, olive growing, ecological agriculture and superior restaurants. BOSNIA & The strong first impression of international brands has been replaced by turning to traditional HERZEGOVINA products, having their origins in a deep historic heritage. The expansion of fast-food chains was brought to a halt in the mid-1990’s as multinational companies understood that investment would not be returned as quickly as had been planned. More ambitious restaurants transformed into centres of hedonism, whereas small, thematic ones offering several fresh and well-prepared dishes are visited every day. Tradition and a return to nature are now popular ITALY Viticulture has been fully developed. Having superior technology at their disposal, a new generation of well-educated winemakers show firm personal convictions and aims with clear goals. The rapid growth of international wine varietals has been hindered while local varietals that were almost on the verge of extinction, have gradually gained in importance. Not only have the most prominent European regions shared their experience, but the world’s renowned wine experts have offered their consulting services. Biodynamic movement has been very brisk with every wine region bursting with life.

"I AM ZLATAN" By Zlatan Ibrahimovic as told to David Lagercrantz --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This book is dedicated to my family and friends, to those who have stood by my side, on good days and bad. I also want to dedicate it to all the kids out there, those who feel different and don't fit in. Those who are seen for the wrong reasons. It's OK to be different. Continue being yourself. It worked out for me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAPTER 1 Pep Guardiola, the coach in Barcelona, with his grey suits and troubled face, came up to me looking concerned. I thought he was all right at that time, certainly not a Mourinho or Capello, but an ok guy. This was way before we started our war. It was the fall of 2009 and I was living my childhood dream. I was playing in the best team in the world and had been welcomed by 70 000 people at the Camp Nou. I was walking on clouds. Well maybe not entirely, there were some bullshit in the papers. I was the bad boy and all that. I was difficult dealing with. But still, I was here. Helena and the kids were also good. We had a nice house in Esplugues de Llobregat and I felt fully charged. What could go wrong? "Hey you", Guardiola said. "Here in Barca we keep our feet down on the ground." "Sure", I said. "Fine." "Here we don't drive any Ferraris or Porsches to training." I nodded, didn't go cocky on him, like how the fuck is what car I'm driving your concern? But I thought "What does he want? What message is he giving me? Believe me, I don't need any fancy cars or parking on the sidewalk to show off anymore.

  • Telling It Like It Was... Illinois’ Elders Share Their Stories
State of Illinois Pat Quinn, Governor Illinois Department on Aging Charles D. Johnson, Director Telling it like it was... Illinois’ elders share their stories Printed in collaboration with Acknowledgements This work has been made possible by the contributions of many. We would like to thank the following: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois for sponsoring the production of this booklet; The Coalition for Limited-English Speaking Elderly for researching and writing this booklet; The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum for supplying historical photographs; The University of Texas Libraries, University of Texas at Austin, for supplying maps of the countries (www.lib.utexas.edu/maps); The National Trails System - Santa Fe, National Park Service, for the “Trail of Tears” map; And the generous people who provided photographs and their personal stories. Together in Illinois Dear Friends: As this little book attests, the history of Illinois is not about just one dominant group, but rather the stories of the many groups of people who have come together to make our state strong. In reading the book, I am struck by the strength of the peoples we are. It is a many-layered strength. The strength of our state and our America is found in the singular fortitude, the toughness, if you will, of the individuals who came to this state. They came by choice and in chains; they came first-class and steerage. They came by horseback, in covered wagons and in boxcars. Others, the native inhabitants, accommodated to the newcomers. But all of them, no matter how or when they arrived, adapted with courage and grace, accepting new neighbors and new conditions with an eye on the future and a willingness to sacrifice that is awesome to contemplate.

As they sought to silence the guns, the mediators behind the DPA struggled with the need not to reward the ethnic cleansing that harkened back to Europe’s darkest hours while having to acknowledge that ethnic cleansing had, in fact, profoundly affected the demography of the country. The result was a complicated structure. Bosnia was reorganized as a consociational federation comprising two entities: Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). In many ways, the territorial restructuring agreed at Dayton could be perceived as ‘ground zero’ for many of the other cases in this volume.

The Slavonic languages fall into three divisions the eastern, western, and southern. To the eastern division belongs Russian (Great Russian and Little Russian or Ruthenian) ; to the western division, Polish, Bohemian, and Lusatian-Wendish (still spoken in parts of Saxony and Prussia); and to the southern division, Slovene, Serbo-Croatian, and Bulgarian. Slovene is spoken by about one and a half million people in the Austrian of is provinces Istria, Carniola, and Carinthia ; Serbo-Croatian spoken throughout the Austrian province of Dalmatia, the Hungarian provinces of Croatia and Slavonia, the joint Austro-Hungarian territories of Bosnia and Hercegovina, in the southern parts of the kingdom of Hungary (known as the Banat and Badka), throughout the kingdoms of Serbia of and Montenegro and in parts Macedonia ; altogether by about nine million people. Bulgarian is spoken throughout Bulgaria and in parts of Macedonia by about five millions. Of these three languages which form the southern division of the Slavonic languages, Slovene and Serbo-Croatian are very similar both in vocabulary and structure ; on the other hand, Serbo-Croatian and Bul- garian, though they contain a large number of words common to both languages, are very dissimilar in grammar.
