WELCOME TO SEAGROVE BAY Seagrove is located between Seaview and St Helens and accords a view over the eastern Solent. The beach can be accessed by car but parking is limited. Seagrove delivers a sandy beach and has remained unchanged. This beach is a haven for families to enjoy a peaceful day. During the summer season the beach is litter picked on a daily basis and large amounts of seaweed are removed and taken to local farmers for use as compost. Emergency equipment such as lifebelts are strategically located in order to ensure safety at any time of the year. The Inshore Rescue is also close at hand and is always on call by the Coastguard. Like anywhere, Seagrove has its natural hazards so be sure to read the safety guidelines and have a good time. Information is provided at each area so check this out to ensure your own safety. Should you need to report a problem such as broken glass or damage to premises, the Isle of Wight Council provides an emergency service for these type of problems. The beach is easily accessed by car, bicycle, foot or the No 8 bus to Seaview leaving a short walk to the beach. The nearest railway station is in Ryde. Once you have disembarked from this form of transport a leisure stroll of approx 30 minutes can then be taken to Seaview. Car Parking and Arrival Parking in Seaview is limited. However, there are on-street parking areas which are unrestricted, restricted and no waiting locations within the award area. Where the parking is unrestricted parking shall be free of charge. Areas Adjacent to the Beach The public highway is immediately adjacent to the beach. Care must be taken when leaving the beach. Beach Access Points Numerous access points can be found via gaps in the seawall. These are closed off during high tides in order to prevent the shingle washing onto the highway. Each point is relatively shallow but there are hand rails installed in case of a drop in the beach level. On the Beach The beach is made up on shingle/stone and levels can vary during inclement weather conditions. Whilst access is possible for wheeled and pushchair users it may be problematical to journey across the beach because fluctuating levels. Public Toilets Public toilets are not immediately available on the beach. However, nearby facilities in the adjacent Puckpool Park are available. Puckpool toilet facilities measures 39 square meters and consists of 7 cubicles, 1 urinal and a disabled unit. The cleansing facilities include 6 wallgate units.
