The South Pacific under the spotlight in the next Disney cartoon

This is no longer big news as online networks have been discussing this for the last few months. The next feature cartoon from the famous Disney studios is about a Polynesian princess named Moana (meaning “sea” or “ocean” in Tahitian and other Pacific languages). That’s right! We couldn’t dream of a better promotion for our Pacific islands!

The film tells the story of Moana, a young Polynesian princess and born navigator from the South Pacific islands, who sets sail in search of a fabled and mysterious island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary semi-god Maui, to traverse the open sea on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds, and also a strong culture of ancient traditions. An epic adventure awaits the princess on her quest for a new world.

Back in 2011, a team from Disney studios had visited Polynesia and other South Pacific islands (Fiji, ) incognito to soak up the , sceneries and islands, and to meet the local population. The team included several professional illustrators and famous directors Ron Clements and Jon Muskers who created the world-famous Little Mermaid, Aladdin, & The Princess and the Frog. The initial trip to the South Pacific obviously met the expectations of the two giants in the Disney industry as the animated film is scheduled for release in Christmas 2016. A second trip, in 2014, has enabled the team to further research the Pacific culture and perfect their vision of the island scenery.

To note: the production is currently casting to find the rare pearl to portray the animated film’s heroine (Polynesian) who can also sing.

The film will not necessarily mention the geographical location of the islands in the Pacific Ocean, but Polynesia in its entirety is more than delighted to see this part of the world portrayed in an animated film which will probably be a huge success.

Tahiti, Aerobatics & Piloting Initiation – New planes take you to the clouds

Make the most of a stopover in Tahiti and reach for the sky! Get a bird’s eye view of the one-of-a-kind Polynesian landscape during an aerobatics session or while piloting your airplane.

If you haven’t yet experienced the joys of aerobatics, seize the thrilling opportunity to take a 20 minute spin on board a 2-seater EXTRA 200 specially designed for aerobatics. With your head in the clouds, soak up the stunning scenery of Tahiti and its emerald lagoon from above. In season, you can even see whales during your loops. Land and sea join forces to give you the best 20 minutes of your life.

If you prefer the quiet life, why not try a maiden voyage and introduction to piloting on board the new TECNAM P2008. New this year: two brand new planes designed and devoted to training equipped with the latest in aviation standards and fittings to ensure everyone has the safest possible flight. This trip is the best way to try your hand at piloting a plane and exploring Polynesia from its best angle. Choose between a 45 or 75 minute session to take the controls alongside a pilot instructor, and another person of your choice who will be with you throughout the flight. Children can take to the skies too in the passenger seat for a pilot taster; and even take the controls for those over 14. Height and weight restrictions apply (stated in our sales documents).

It’s fun, it’s high, it’s unusual and it’s available in Polynesia; so don’t miss out! Choose either option and experience the new planes provided by one of Polynesia’s best flying schools.
