Daniel Micallef is an academic at the University of Malta forming part of the department of Environmental Design at the Faculty for the Built Environment. He is also an associate member of the Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Malta. Daniel graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta in 2008 with first class honours. He started his professional career in the public sector with the Malta Resources Authority as an energy analyst. During this time he started pursuing a career in academia and worked towards a PhD. He was awarded his PhD in 2012 from the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands jointly with the University of Malta. He is currently the president of the Chamber of Engineers. He was a council member for the past ten years. Hon. Dr Ian Borg was appointed Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects in June 2017, at the start of the 13th legislature. His current role includes overseeing the construction and maintenance of roads, the effective implementation of different programmes and major Government infrastructural projects. Dr Borg graduated as a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2012, after successfully reading a Doctoral degree in Laws, a Diploma in Public Notarial Practice and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. His political career started in 2005 with his election as Mayor of his hometown Dingli, which was reaffirmed in 2008 and 2012. In 2009, he was also elected as an Executive Member of the Local Councils Association. Dr Borg has also served in the North Regional Committee and in theUsers’ Committee of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority. In 2010, he was a member of the Maltese delegation to the Committee of the Regions as part of the European Socialists Party. Ing Joseph P. Sammut is a professional engineer who created various innovation and automation solutions for different international clients. He has also conceived and developed the award winning, 30 million Euro Malta Life Sciences Park where he is the Chairman. He has now set up the Malta Innovation Hub to help enterprises and public sector to be more innovative through workshops including social innovation and sustainable development goals. He was a founding council member on the Malta Standards Authority, the Building Industry Consultative Council and the Malta Council for Science and Technology where he also was the Director of National Research Funds. He was alsoa Research Fellow at the University of Warwick supporting Technology Take-up Techniques in the UK aerospace enterprises, including AirBus, Rolls Royce and BAE, particularly to implement lean and innovative enterprise techniques. SPEAKER'S PROFILES Ms Tonia Naudi is Bank of Valletta’s Head of Payments and Multi- Channel Banking. Employed with BOV for over 33 years, she has gained extensive experience within the area of payments. Throughout her journey her focus was mainly on payments operations, customer service, dispute management, cards and digital payments both from an operational as well as a business perspective. Ms Naudi was involved in a number of key projects amongst which were the implementation of SEPA, PSD2 and BOV’s new core banking system; upgrades in the user experience of digital channels and digital payments strategy. She holds a Master’s degree in Management and is a member of the Malta Bankers Association Payments User Group. Ms Naudi regularly participates in TV programmes, conferences and educational sessions encouraging and assisting local businesses and consumers to shift towards digital channels. Ing Noel Psaila graduated from the University of Malta with a B.Eng.(Hon.)(Electrical) degree specialising in Electrical power systems, Computer hardware and software in 1992, followed by an Executive Master in Business Administration degree with an interest in Project Management, Human Resource Development, Entrepreneurship and Advanced Finance in 2002. He started his engineering professional career with Enemalta Corporation as an Electrical Engineer forming part of a team responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of major projects in the electrical transmission and distribution networks in Malta. In 2005 Noel joined FMS as a project Electrical Engineer on the Mater Dei Hospital project. Here he managed a team of technicians and electricians tackling day-to-day engineering issues related to installation, testing and quality assurance of the project. Inġ Psaila was appointed Director Engineering at Mater Dei Hospital responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of Engineering Systems, Buildings and Estates together with Infrastructure Projects, Waste Management, Pest Control, Fire Safety and Occupational Health & Safety. He leads a strong team made up of seven Engineers, two Operations Managers and their staff together with specialised and general maintenance contractors. Ing. Karl Farrugia is currently employed with the Ministry for Health as Managing Director (Sourcing and Supplies) with a Master’s Degree in Engineering. He works within a multidisciplinary team including clinicians, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and technologists. His team within Central Procurement and Supplies Unit (CPSU), Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC) and National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC), is involved in market research, procurement, financial resources, quality, regulatory, supplies and distribution and their main objective is the patient. Ing. Farrugia also embraces actively experiential learning activities for students from the UOM. Being a Biomedical engineer by profession and working for more than 20 years within the National Health System, he sees the Engineering professionals as the fulcrum to the healthcare industry. SPEAKER'S PROFILES Mr Walid El-Shishtawy is the Vice President of Field Services & Energy Efficiency of Schneider Electric North East Africa & Levant, a post he has held since mid-2015. El-Shishtawy has held several leadership positions over the course of twenty years since he first joined Schneider Electric in 1999 as Sales Engineer. In 2006, he became Sales Manager for Industry, Oil and Gas Department. In January 2009, he moved to ELSEWEDY Cables for an 18- month spell, where he served as Regional Sales and Business Development Director. He returned to Schneider Electric in 2010 as Senior Marketing Manager for Egypt and North-East Africa before becoming Services & Energy Efficiency Head of Sales for Egypt & North East Africa in January 2012. Then he held the position of Vice President for Field Services and Energy Efficiency since mid of 2015. El-Shishtawy received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Maastricht School of Management, and has a Bachelor degree of Science in Electrical & Power Engineering, from the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. Mr. Hannes Treier is a Civil engineer by profession and he is currently serving on the executive board of FEANI. On a professional level, he occupies the role of Partner with reflecta ag, a management Consulting firm in Berne/Switzerland where he has also carried out global work assignments in South Africa, the Middle East and Asia. He is the President of the Swiss National Committee of FEANI/WFEO which represents Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) and Swiss Engineering STV UTS ATS. He was elected to the Executive Board of FEANI in 2018 and participated in the task force of the Status of Professional Engineers. Mr Jesmond Mizzi has been involved in the financial services industry for over 23 years and is an affiliate member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is the Managing Director of Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors Limited, and a non-Executive Director of Hili Ventures Limited. He is also a business columnist on The Times and The Sunday Times, and a regular guest on educational and financial media programmes. SPEAKER'S PROFILES Mr. Matthew Demicoli has graduated from the University of Malta in Science in 2014 and he kicked off his profession as QA Analyst with corporate Baxter Healthcare. He later read an MBA from Heriott-Watt University and nurtured a propensity towards business optimisation. He joined Tuning Fork Advisory in 2017 and has been instrumental in building the company’s CyberLabs business pillar. Over the years Matthew has implemented a diverse range of management systems, represents the internal audit function of various organisations within different sectors and has been instrumental in the enhancement of business processes at clients. He holds various coveted certifications such as Lead Auditor in ISO27001:2013, ISO900:2015, ISO14001:2015, Lead Implementor ISO27001:2013, CISA and PECB trainer. His passion revolves around compliance and tech aspects specifically in the cyber security and resilience field where he provides advisory in the risk, compliance and governance domains. Ing Saviour Zammit has graduated form the University of Malta in 1992 in electrical engineering. He worked as an engineer with Enemalta corporation where he spent 13 years starting in operations and later as electrical maintenance engineer where he acquired vast experience in power and control. In 2007, he started working with Multigas which serves customers with industrial and medical gases complimented with related equipment and services. After his engagement in the gas
