CLASSES WITH LOW ENROLLMENT WILL BE CANCELLED 7 DAYS PRIOR Theater TAKE THE STAGE BY STORM THEATER FOR ALL AGES THEATER CLASSES PlayLab: Jane Austen’s TPL012520 Ages 7-18 Saturdays, Jan 25 - Mar 7 9am-12pm $185 Pride and Prejudice for Kids These classes are designed to take students through the full process of producing and acting in a play. All PlayLab classes include auditions, casting, rehearsals, blocking, stagecraft, and a final performance for friends and family on the last day of class. In this session, performers will produce a 15 minute (or so), humorous retelling of the classic literature story, Pride and Prejudice! Become a Student TBS012520 Ages 15-18 Saturdays, Jan 25 - Feb 15 1:30pm-3:30pm $82 Music Director From determining vocal ranges to vocal warm-ups to polishing a number, students will learn what it takes to music direct a show. Students will work with a professional Music Director to hold vocal auditions, teach a song (or two), create harmonies, and develop an overall voice for a mock production. This class is a stepping stone to becoming a Student Music Director for an upcoming CFABS Youth Players production. PlayLab: Shakespeare’s TPL032820 Ages 7-18 Saturdays, Mar 28 - May 2 9am-12pm $185 Hamlet for Kids These classes are designed to take students through the full process of producing and acting in a play. All PlayLab classes include auditions, casting, rehearsals, blocking, stagecraft, and a final performance for friends and family on the last day of class. In this session, performers will produce a 15 minute (or so), humorous retelling of Shakespeare’s classic, Hamlet! Become a Student Tech TBS040420 Ages 15-18 Saturdays, Apr 4-25 1:30pm-3:30pm $82 From lights to sound to stage crew, students will learn what it takes to run a show. Students will work with a professional Director to build and program a light plot, learn sound cues, and “choreograph” scene changes for a mock production. Each workshop focuses on a specific aspect of the theater. Old Age Makeup TW011020 Ages 8-18 Friday, January 10 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 After School/Evening Class Students will learn how to make themselves look older…not just “13 going on 35” older, but “great-grandparent” older. Learn the basic techniques for hollows, wrinkles, veins, and age spots. BUILD IT! Romance Edition TW013120 Ages 11-18 Friday, January 31 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 (Theatre Stagecraft) After School/Evening Class Students will work on props and set pieces for the Spring PlayLab production of Pride and Prejudice. Learn how to use inexpensive supplies to help create a magical theatre world for actors to perform in. Deep Dive: Character TW020720 Ages 10-18 Friday, February 7 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 Development After School/Evening Class Learn how to really dig into the script to find what motivates your character. Decide how much history and the text affects your character and dream up the rest. Learn how to effectively mark up a script with subtext. Students can bring a character they are developing for a current production, or be given one by the Director. Professionalism 101: TW030620 Ages 10-18 Friday, March 6 5:30pm-8:30pm $50 Theatre Kids in the Digital Age After School/Evening Class What does “professionalism” mean in youth theater? What does it mean in a world of social media? Students will learn appropriate behavior on and off stage, and how that behavior can develop into a reputation that can precede them to an audition. A portion of the class will focus primarily on how your social media presence can impact your future in the theatre in either a positive or negative way. BUILD IT! Stage Puppets TW041720 Ages 8-18 Friday, April 17 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 After School/Evening Class Make your own version of one of the insect puppets used in James & the Giant Peach Jr. Students will build their own puppets and learn basic motor skills for using a puppet. Get the inside scoop from one who's worked in the industry. BUILD IT! Summer Edition TW052220 Ages 11-18 Friday, May 22 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 (Theatre Stagecraft) After School/Evening Class Students will work on props and set pieces for the various Summer Camp productions. Learn how to use inexpensive supplies to help create a magical theatre world for actors to perform in. 16 Youth Education Winter/Spring Catalog 2020 Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs Youth Theater Program Auditions THE STAGE IS WAITING FOR YOU CFABS YOUTH THEATER PRODUCTIONS Tuck Everlasting Ages 13+ Auditions: Tuesday and Wednesday, January 7 & 8 5-7pm Call Backs (If Needed): Thursday, January 9 6-7:30pm Rehearsals: Schedule will be set based on actor availability TBD *expect 4-5 nights per week based on role Performances: Friday and Saturday, February 21 & 22 7pm Saturday and Sunday, February 22 & 23 2pm $50 Production Fee for Actors Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach Jr. Kindergarten - Age 18 Auditions: Tuesday and Wednesday, March 31 & April 1 5-7pm Call Backs (If Needed): Thursday, April 2 6-7:30pm Rehearsals: Schedule will be set based on actor availability TBD Performances: Friday and Saturday, May 15 & 16 7pm All actors should be prepared to sing, dance, and act. Actors must bring in a 16-32 bar cut of a musical theatre/pop song with electronic accompaniment (CD, phone, iPad, iPod, etc.). Acapella and sheet music are strongly discouraged. Please don’t be intimidated, we just need to hear you sing. No advance monologue preparation is required. Come dressed to move and dance; no flip-flops or sandals, dresses or skirts. Actors will learn a short dance routine with a group taught by the Choreographer. Actors can expect their audition to last about an hour. Please call to reserve your audition spot: 239-495-8989 MASTERING YOUR AUDITION WORKSHOPS These workshops will provide great insight and training for preparing for an upcoming audition. Learn the dos and don’ts and gain confidence in your presentation. In each workshop, you will receive tips from a casting director about etiquette, technique, and preparation. You will be able to put your skills to work through a mock audition. Other topics include song and monologue selection (dependent upon upcoming production), cold readings, how to combat nervousness, and knowing your character type. Come prepared with a 16-32 bar cut of a musical piece.
