Funeral services for Joseph Reginald Falls, who passed away at his home at 36 Pearce Street, Marmora_on Wed., Feb. l9th, 1969 were held from the Howden Funeral Home on Friday., Feb. 21st, at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Falls, who was in his 42nd year, was born at Bailieboro, son of the late James Falls and Ellen Ruth Boyd. He. was educated in North Monaghan Twp. He married the former Reta Hawley. He had been employed until, recently, with Armstrong Bros Ltd. for the past 3 years. RETA ELIZABETH FALLS *

Mrs. Reta Elizabeth Falls passed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on March 8, 1992 in her 64th year after a lenghty illness. Reta was the only child of Mabel and Malcolm Hawley and was a life long resident of Marmora. She retired from Deloro Stellite, in Belleville, in 1981 and was a member of St. Andrew's United Church. Mrs. Falls was predeceased, by her husband Joseph Falls, but is survived by her mother Mabel and her children Mrs. Allen Fluke (Carolyn), of Marmora, Douglas Falls, of Peterborough, Richard Falls, of Marmora and Dean Falls, also of Marmora. She will be lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren and one great grandson. A funeral service was held at McConnell's Funeral Home on March 11, 1992 with Rev. Kim Warne officiating. JOHN JAMES FAHEY Requiem Mass for John James Fahey of Matthew Street, Marmora, who died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Peterborough, on Sunday, January 11th, was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church Marmora, by Reverend Father T. G. Scanlan on Wednesday. January 14th. In his 48th year, he was son of the late James John Fahey and the late former Annie Hayes. He was born and educated in Toronto and was a retired stone mason. He served overseas during World War II with the artillery unit, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 389, Havelock. A special service was held at the Howden Funeral Home by the Legion on Tuesday evening. He leaves two sisters: Mrs. Albert Baker (Irene). Mrs. Herbert Ree (Mary), and one brother, Walter, all of Toronto. Interment was in the Legion Plot of Marmora Protestant Cemetery. Mr. Floyd James Carl Finch of R.R. 3. Stirling passed away suddenly on July 26, 1980, as the result of a car accident on Hwy.14, two miles north of Stirling. He was 24 years of age. Mr. Finch was born in Peterborough, , the son of Clarence and Effie Finch. He leaves one son, Jason of R.R. 4, Marmora; two brothers, Lloyd of Campbellford and Bruce, at home; three sisters, Donna, Stirling; Evelyn (Mrs. Richard Stephens), Campbellford and Debbie, at home; nieces Jennifer and Angelie and nephews Jimmy and Robbie. Mr. Finch was an employee of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The late Mr. Finch rested at the McConnell Funeral Home, Marmora, Ontario, where his funeral service was held on July 30, at 1:00 p.m; with Rev. Stephens officiating. Interment was at Marmora Protestant Cemetery. Pall-bearers were Roger Bisson, Roger Lake, Ernie Fluke, Carl Pollock, George Bailey, and Steve Sopha.

JOSEPH FLETCHER *

At the advanced age of eighty-two years Joseph Fletcher passed away at his home in Marmora township on Monday evening. He was a member of a pioneer family and was highly esteemed. In former years he was a noted lumberjack and river driver and was widely known and popular with employees of some of the big lumber companies of forty or fifty years ago. After his marriage he settled on the farm a few miles west of the village, where he has since resided. He was of a quiet and friendly disposition and could tell many interesting episodes of the early days of the township and lumber camps. His wife, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rich. Leonard, predeceased him on January 8th, 1929. He is survived by six children, namely Mrs. Harold Armstrong and Mrs. Harry Dewey, Belleville; Mrs. Fred Mumby, Marmora; Mrs. Alex Johnston, Rednersville; Mrs. Roy Blakely, Marmora township, and Joseph, at home. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Barlow, Halbrice, Sask. The funeral was held this afternoon, service being conducted in St. Paul's Anglican Church by Canon W. G. Swayne, of Bonarlaw, owing to the absence of Rural Dean A. B. Caldwell. Interment took place in Marmora Protestant Cemetery.

Elizabeth Leonard, beloved wife of Joseph Fletcher passed away early Wednesday, morning, after fifty-eight years. She had been in poor health for a couple of years, but was only confined to her bed a short time before her death. The deceased was a daughter of the late Richard Leonard and had lived all her life in the neighborhood. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her, and her kindly nature and many admirable qualities won her very warm friends. Besides her husband she leaves a family of five daughters and one son. They are Mrs. H. Armstrong and Mrs. J. Dewey, Belleville; Mrs. A. Johnston, Campbellford; Mrs. F. Mumby and Mrs. R. Blakley, of Marmora township; and Joe at home. The funeral will leave her late residence at 2 p.m. to-morrow afternoon and proceed to St. Paul's Church, Marmora, for service at 2.30 p.m., after which interment will take place in Marmora cemetery.

Mr. Joseph R. Fletcher, of RR3 Marmora passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 1989 at Campbellford Memorial Hospital in his 78th year. He is survived by nieces and nephews in Peterborough, Hastings, Belleville and many close friends in and around Marmora. Joe farmed much of his life and was an avid gardener. A former well known and esteemed resident of Marmora, died in Kingston Hospital on Tuesday, February 13th, aged 63 years. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fletcher and is survived by one brother, Joseph Fletcher, of Marmora Township and two sisters, Miss Mary Fletcher, of Halbrice, Sask., and Mrs. Chas. Barlow, of Weyburn, Sask. Another brother, Alexander, was killed as a result of a powder explosion. It is expected the funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon, leaving the residence of his brother and proceeding to St. Andrew's United Church for service. The funeral of the late Miss Mary Fletcher was hold on Monday afternoon Service was conducted at the home of her brother, Mr. Joseph Fletcher, by Rev. C.W. Hollingsworth and interment took place in Marmora Protestant cemetery. The late Miss Fletcher was seventy-five years of age and was a former highly esteemed resident of this vicinity. For quite a number of years she was employed in the Ontario School for the Deaf at Belleville. She afterwards held a position in the West for some years and for the past year or so had lived in Toronto. She was for many years a devoted member of the Methodist or United Church. Sympathetic and kindly, she found pleasure and satisfaction in the service of others.

THOMAS FLETCHER Mysterious Death

Tweed News; A sudden and mysterious death occurred near Deloro on Tuesday evening, 8th. Instant. A man named Thomas Fletcher, who was in partnership with Mr. Christie of Jarvis Settlement, in developing an iron property at Deloro, was missed from the supper table at his boarding house, and as he had been at the blacksmith shop at that place that afternoon, a search was made with the result that he was found dead in a near-by woods, with his face buried in the snow. There were no marks of violence to be seen.

Elizabeth Anne Fluke died in Kingston General Hospital on September 14, 1979. after a three-month illness. She was 24 years of age. Mrs. Fluke was born in Peterborough, the daughter of Bev and Marie Pollock of Havelock, on May 9, 1955. She was married to Allan Fluke and had lived in Marmora from 1971 to 1975; she moved to Thompson, Manitoba that year returning in 1978. She is survived by her husband, and her children Douglas and Angela, of Marmora, her parents, and brothers, Carl, Randy and Dwayne all of Havelock and her sister, Judy (Mrs. Dave Parkinson) of Campbellford. She was predeceased by her uncle, Peter Cassalman. Mrs. Fluke rested at the Howden Funeral Home in Marmora from Monday, September 15; funeral services were at the Marmora Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, September 17 with the Rev. James Stevenson presiding. Interment was in the Marmora Protestant cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Ellis of Bowmanville, Doug Falls of Peterborough, Rick Henderson of Havelock, Robert Ellis of Marmora, Robert Derry of Marmora and Doug Little of Young's Point. James Ralph Fluke of Crawford Drive, Marmora, died in Kingston General Hospital on August 27, at 55 years of age. He had been sick for three months. Mr. Fluke was born in Thomasburg, the son of Doris Mae (Weeks) Fluke and received his education there. He moved to Marmora thirty years ago and had worked for the Marmoraton Mining Company. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the United Church. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Doris Mae McCoy. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Douglas Devolin) and a son, Barry, both of Marmora and a granddaughter, Tanya, as well as brothers and sisters, Ela (Mrs. Frank Bird) of R.R. 1. Havelock, Mrs. Margaret McGregor of Westport, Henry, Gerald, Jack, Otis and Lyle of Marmora, Helen (Mrs. Harry Bishop) of California, Ronald of Thomasburg and Doug of Oakville. JOHN ALBERT FLUKE * of 73 Cameron St., Marmora passed away after a lengthy illness on December 29, 1999 at the age of 71. Mr. Fluke was the loving husband of Enid Fluke (Archer) and father to Rick Fluke and wife Marie of Bear River, Nova Scotia as well as Bud Fluke and wife Nancy of Oshawa, Ontario. Mr. Fluke was born in Thomasburg to parents Niles and Florence Fluke and was the brother of Ela Bird of Cordova, Helen Bishop of California, Margaret McGregor of Westport, Henry Fluke, Gerald Fluke, Otis Fluke, Lyle Fluke all of Marmora, Doug Fluke of Oakville and the late Ronald and James Fluke. He is survived by five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Mr. Fluke was a building contractor as well as a member of the St. Andrew's Church and the Marmora Masonic Lodge. A funeral was held on December 31 at the McConnell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Armstrong officiating. Pallbearers for the service were nephews, Allen Fluke, Bill Fluke, Mark Fluke, Jim Gray, Jim Finch and cousin Neil Nicholas. A Masonic service was held prior to the funeral on December 30, 1999. Mary Helen Fluke, of Marmora, passed away peacefully at Blue Spruce Residence in Deloro on Sunday, February 4, 1996, at age 77, after a brief illness. Mrs. Fluke was born in Marmora Township, the daughter of Bert and Pearl Inkster. Mary was a member of the United Church and was a devoted homemaker. Mary was survived by her husband Henry and her children, Milton, Allen and Ernie, of Marmora and Lamoine Cassalman, of Deloro She was the dear grandmother of 10 grand children and three great grandchildren. Marmora Girl Comes Home for Burial The ashes of Kathleen Fobert (nee Rice) will be returning home after 67 years to be buried at a grave site service on Monday, September 4th, 10:30a.m. Marmora Protestant Cemetery. Kathleeen was the beloved wife of John for 65 years. Loving, caring mother of Jeannine Strain and Jo-Anne Dambrough (Bruce). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, great- grand children and great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by her father James and mother Evelyn, brothers Jimmy and George Rice of Marmora and her sister Evelyn Dandy of Toronto. Her wish was to go home to Marmora, to rest with her family and in the town where she had many wonderful memories. After the service there will be a tour of St. Paul's Anglican Church where she went to Sunday school, was confirmed, married and had her children baptized. She will be deeply missed. ROBERT FORSYTHE DIED IN COBALT *

Mr. Robert Forsythc passed away after short illness of pneumonia. The death occurred in Cobalt after a few days illness of pneumonia, of Robt. Forsythe, for many years a resident of Marmora. Deceased was born in Cannifton on Feb. 29th 1854. He came to Marmora at the age of 20 years and has been a resident of the village most of the time since then. For a few years he was a sawyer in the mills at Gravenhurst and after his return engaged in mining, living at Deloro for a number of years. For the past three years he has been working in Cobalt and returned there for the last time about six weeks ago, where he contracted a severe cold which terminated fatally. In 1876 the late Mr. Forsythe was married to Miss Deleane Bedore, of Marmora, who with a family of seven children survives to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. Following are the names of the children:—Mrs. Frank Brown, of Peterboro; Mrs. Walter McWilliams, Marmora; Mrs. Enos Croft, Cobalt; Mrs. George Lyseem, Winnpeg; Lillian, at home and Robert and James, of Cobalt. He is also survived by his father Mr. Robert Forsythe, who has reached a very advanced age;, three brothers. Thomas, of Parkhouse; James of Moira; David, of San Franciso, Cal.; and three sisters;' Mrs. Marks Marsh and Mrs. Will Marsh, of Ross Common, Mich, and Mrs. Oliver, of Foxboro.

The late Mr. Forsythc was highly respected by all who knew him, and the news of his death was beard with deep regret in the village. The funeral took place this afternoon and was largely attended, service being conducted in the Methodist church by Rev. W. B Seccombe. Interment took place in Marmora Cemetery.

Another of the early residents of Marmora Township passed away shortly before midnight on Wednesday, February 13th, in the person of Mrs. Delinda Forsythe, widow of the late Robert Forsythe, who passed away on the same date in February 1909—twenty-six years ago. Deceased was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Bedore, pioneer settlers of Marmora township, and was in her 84th year, having been born on February 28, 1851. Her husband was born on the same day. Mr. Forsythe was a miner and worked at Deloro when it was operated as a gold mine. Later Mr. and Mrs. Forsythe and family moved to Cobalt, when silver was discovered there, and Mr. Forsythe engaged in mining there during the boom days. About fifteen years ago the late Mrs. Forsythe went to Winnipeg, where she lived with her daughters for about nine years. She then resided in the United States for about three years and for the past three years had resided, with her sister, Mrs. Polly McDonald, in Marmora village. Quite a number of the older residents have pleasing memories of the deceased, her kindly disposition and an a good friend and neighbour. For some years the family resided in the house in Marmora township now occupied by David McCoy-. The late Mrs. Forsythe is survived by five daughters and one son. They are Mrs. Frank Brows, Lynn, Mass.; Mrs. Walter McWilliams, Rochester, N. Y.; Mrs. Alice McDougall, Lynn, Mass.; Mrs. H. A. Twiner, Winnipeg; Mrs, Lilian Delaine, Winnipeg; and James Forsythe, North Tonawanda, N. Y. There are also three brothers and three sisters left to mourn her loss-: Julian, Marmora; Frank, Peterborough; George, Marmora Township; Mrs. J. Ryan and Mrs. P. McDonald, Marmora, and Mrs. T. Winfleld, Cordova. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon, service being conducted in St. Paul's church by Rural Dean A. P. Caldwell. Friends were allowed to view the remains at the church between 1.30 and 2.30 p.m. and quite a number attended to pay their last respects to the deceased. Interment was made in the family plot in Marmora cemetery.

Mrs. John Fox, a resident of Marmora all her life, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 18th. in her 38th year. She had just called on a friend, Mrs. Henry Fluke, Madoc Street, when she suffered a heart attack. Dr. H. G. Parkin was summoned immediately but she passed away before she could be removed to a hospital. The late Mrs. Fox was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Knox and was born in Marmora a few houses from where she had resided in recent years. She was of a quiet, friendly nature and was esteemed by all who knew her. She took an active interest in the Loyal Orange Lodge and was a Past Mistress of Harmony L.O.B.A. 600. At the time of her death she was guardian of Marmora Juvenile Lodge and she had marched in the parade in Stirling on July 12th. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church. She is survived by her husband, John Fox, and four daughters, Janey, Carol Ann, Jaqueline and Patricia; six brothers: George Knox, Woolcott, N.Y.; Mallory Knox, Toronto; Wesley Knox, Consecon; Gordon, William and McKinley Knox cf Marmora; and three sisters: Mrs. Earl Harper, Bracebridge; Mrs. G. Wells Funeral Home on Burstall Street to St. Andrew's United Church where service was conducted by Rev. F. Ewart Madden. Marmora L.O.B.A. No. 6OO and J.O.L. No. 329 attended the service in a body. Interment was in Marmora Protestant Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Gordon Phillips, Gordon McFarlane, Thomas Smith, Carl Deline., Gordon Scott and Wellington Mclnroy. On Friday evening the local Orange Lodges held a short, service at the Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Mary Ann Franklin passed away last Saturday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Robert Gray, Marmora township, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Jacob Wilkes, of town is a daughter, and Mr. George Franklin, of Shanick is a son of the deceased. The funeral took place on Monday.

GEORGE ALBERT FRANKLIN *

A former resident of Marmora, lately of Tamworth, passed away in Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, May 22, in the person of George Albert Franklin. The late Mr. Franklin, who was in his 73rd year, had been in poor health for a number of years. Two weeks before he passed away he suffered a fall in the home of his daughter Mrs. W. H. Baugh and was taken to Kingston Hospital where he later developed pneumonia from which he failed to recover. The deceased was born in Madoc Township and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Franklin. As a young man he moved with his parents to Lake Township, where they engaged in farming. In 1902 he was married to Ethel May Wilkes who predeceased him in 1919. Two children were born to the union, Gertrude who is now Mrs. (Rev.) W. H. Baugh, and Alice who died in infancy. They later moved to Shanick in Marmora Township where the de ceased resided until about five years ago when he moved to Marmora Village. Since 1944 he had resided with his daughter at Tamworth. The late Mr. Franklin engaged in farming most of his life but in his spare time worked as a stone- mason and for several years he drew mail from Marmora to Shannick. ' He was of a quiet and friendly nature and had many friends throughout the township. One of family of twelve, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Wilkes, Mrs. A. M. McGarvey and Mrs Robert Gray, all of Marmora village and Township. The funeral was held on Monday, proceeding from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. (Rev.) W. H. Baugh, at Tamworth, to St. Andrew's United Church, Marmora, for service at 3 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted 'by Rev.E; M. Cadigan, minister of the Church, assisted by Rev. Mr. Crawford, of Enterprise. Interment took place in Marmora Protestant cemetery.

NAPOLEON J. FRAPPIER Accident takes life of former Legion president

A one-car accident has claimed the life of a prominent resident of Marmora Sunday night. Dead is Napoleon J. Frappier, 46, of RR 4 Marmora. He was a former president of the Royal Canadian Legion, here. The Madoc detachment of the provincial police report that the car was southbound on County Road 3 when upon entering a curve struck a guide post and came to rest in the southbound lane. There were a total of 8 guide posts hit. The accident occurred about a quarter mile north of the village. Mr. Frappier was taken to Belleville General Hospital where he died. The police report the car was completely damaged with an estimated value of $1,000.00

PAUL FRAPPIER - AS YET, THERE IS NO CURE!

Paul Frappier, president of the Marmora Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, has been struck with a rare illness. Known as Trench Disease, he is but one of very few Canadians to have contacted the germ while fighting in the Korean conflict over 20 years ago. The disease lies dormant for some 20 years before it breaks through the skin causing sores, holes and festering on toes and fingers. "It is very, very painful,"' says Mr. Frappier. And unfortunately, as yet, there is no cure for it. He has been in Belleville General Hospital, and Kingston General Hospital, receiving treatments. During his absence, branch vice-president Gordon Bennet of Marmora has been presiding.

JOHN J. FRENCH *

The death occurred at Toronto General Hospital early Monday morning of John Joseph French, an esteemed resident of Marmora for nearly twenty years. He first started work at Deloro August 21st, 1924, as an employee of Deloro Chemical Company Limited, which manufactured insecticides for a number of years, On Nov. 19. 1925, he transferred to the employ of Deloro Smelting & Refining Company Limited and had been an employee of the company ever since. He was of a friendly and jovial disposition and was popular with his fellow employees. For a number of years he acted as Santa Claus for the Deloro Christmas tree. The late John J. French was born in London, Eng., on May 15th, 1890, not far from the famous Bow Bells. One of the memories of his boyhood was the ringing of the bells. After first coming to Canada he worked at farming in the Norwood district not far from Rice Lake. In the first World War he enlisted in the 21st Battalion and served overseas. He was a member of Marmora Branch of the Canadian Legion and always took a keen interest in its activities and in returned men. For a time after World War No. 1 he served as an orderly at St. Ann's Military Hospital. In recent years he had been a foreman at the Silver Plant at Deloro and a member of the Safety First Committee. The deceased is survived by his wife,-two daughters and one son. The funeral was" held this afternoon, proceeding from his late residence on the 12th concession of Rawdon, to St. Paul's Church, Marmora, where • service was conducted by Rev. J. M. Brownlie. Interment was .made in Marmora Protestant cemetery. The Funeral was under the auspices of Marmora Branch No. 237 Canadian Legion.

Fatal Accident at Cordova Conrad Fredrikson, a native of Norway 42 years of age, who came to Canada when about eighteen years of age, was the victim of an accident at Cordova Gold Mine last Friday forenoon which resulted In his death. He was working at the 500 foot level, protected by a bunk, when a timber fell from the 200 foot level. It dropped with such force that it broke through the bunk striking Fredrikson on the right leg almost tearing it off below the knee and severing an artery. The medical officer was summoned from Havelock and Dr. D. J. Holdcroft responded and rendered first aid but the victim only lived a short time. So far as is known the deceased had no living relatives, but for about five years be had made his home with Mr. E. J. Martin, Actinolite. For about four years he was employed by Henniger & Scott Construction Company and was well liked by his employers and popular with his fellow workmen. He had also made a lot of friends since going to Cordova Mines. The funeral was held on Sunday. The service was conducted at the home of Mr. Martin, Actinolite, by Rev. Merritt Price, after which the remains were conveyed to Marmora Protestant Cemetery for interment. Rural Dean A B. Caldwell pronounced the committal sentences at the graveside. A number of officials of Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company and quite a number of residents of Cordova attended the service at Actinolite and also at the cemetery. The pall-bearers were John Bell, John Anderson, Edward Flynn, sr., Edward Flynn, Jr., G. Dalbgren and MORRIS Martin.

CHARLES FROATS *

Following an operation, which took place in the General Hospital at Niagara Falls, Ont., last week. Mr. Chas. Floats passed away on Thursday, the 15th inst. He had been in poor health for some time and his condition became so serious that an operation was the only hope, but unfortunately he was unable to survive the effects. Deceased was in his 69th year. He was born at Morrisburg, but when he was quite young his family moved to Blairton, where the iron mine was then in operation. As a young man Mr. Froats worked at Blairton and he followed mining and prospecting in various localities practically all his life. About twenty-four years ago he moved to Marmora and purchased a property at the east end of the village, where he made himself a very attractive home. He was a good neighbor and was highly respected by those who knew him best. The deceased leaves a widow, formerly Miss Charlotte Sweet, a sister of the late Wm. Sweet, and four sons, William, Frank, and John, of Niagara Falls, Ont., and George, of Niagara Falls N. Y. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Wm. Sweet, of Marmora, and one brother, Arthur Froats, of Buffalo. The funeral took place from his late residence here on Monday. Service was conducted in the United Church by Rev C J. Beekley, and interment took place in Marmora cemetery.

MRS. CHARLES FROATS *

After an illness of less than two weeks Mrs. Charlotte Froats, a former highly esteemed resident of Marmora, passed away at her home in Niagara Falls, Ont., on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, in her 83rd year. The deceased and her husband, the late Charles Froats, resided at Blairton years ago when Blairton iron mine was in operation. When the mine closed down, they moved to Marmora where they resided for a long period. Mr. Froats passed away on September 15th, 1927, and shortly after the late Mrs. Froats moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario, where she had since resided. The deceased was a sister of the late William Sweet and Mrs. Sweet was a sister of the late Charles Froats. She is survived by three sons, John and William of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and George, of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Another son, Frank, died about four years ago, and two daughters died years ago, the one in infancy. The funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. The funeral cortage will arrive in Marmora by motor about 2.30 p.m., and the funeral service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church at 3.30p.m., Daylight Saving Time. Interment will take place in MarmoraProtestant cemetery.

CATHERINE FROST

There passed peacefully away at the home of her step-son, Mr. Geo, Frost, Sidney Township, on Wednesday morning, April 3rd, Catherine, widow of the late Wm. Frost, in her 79th year. For the last twenty years the deceased resided in the village of Frankford and was highly esteemed by everyone. She was a splendid type of womanhood, most loyal and devoted to her church, which she supported in all its undertakings, and which she did not forget in the hour of her death, remembering it in a generous manner. The service, which was held in Trinity Church Frankford, where she had worshipped for so many years was conducted by the rector, Rev. B. F. Byers, after which the remains were brought to Marmora for interment. Mrs. Frost will be remembered la Marmora, as she resided here for a number of years. Before she married Mr. Frost, she was the widow of the late Mark Powell.

Funeral of Mrs. Catherine May Frost of 11 Bursthall Street, Marmora, who died in Belleville General Hospital on Tuesday. April 15th, after an illness of one year, was from Howden Funeral Home to St. Paul's Anglican Church, on Friday, April 18. The service was conducted by Rev. David Saunders, with Very Rev. Richard (Fleming of Kingston assisting. Mrs. Frost was born at St. John, N.B., daughter of the late Harry Seely and the late Ethel Trueman. She received her education in St. John schools, studying music at the Sisters of Charity Convent. She later moved to Montreal with her family. A resident of Marmora for 19 years, her contributions to both church and community have been numerous. She was an active member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, and had been organist and choir director for a number of years. She was past president of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Paul's and past worthy matron of the Eastern Star. She was also past regent of the I.O.D.E. as well as president of the Home and School Association. The Girl Guides also benefited from her loyal support and leadership — Captain of the Marmora Company since its inception, she was also District Commissioner. For the past eight years, she was manageress of Eaton's Order Office. She leaves her husband, Roy, 2 daughters, Mrs. Richard Mocon (Madeline) of R.R. 1, Campbellford: and Mrs. David Reynolds (Heather) of Marmora. Also surviving are one sister, Miss Madeleine Seely, and one brother, Trueman Seely. both of Montreal, and four grandchildren. Honourary pall bearers were: Fred Wells. Ralph Neal. William Lavender and Percy Nayler, and active bearers, Jack Grant, Jack Reynolds, Floyd Loveless. Tom Barton. Sid Demorest and Claude Nichol. Rangers, and Brownies formed a guard of honour at the funeral. Interment was in Marmora Protestant Cemetery.

FROST, MADELEINE E. *

Of Burstall St. Marmora passed away on December 1. 1999 after a lengthy illness. Born in St. John New Brunswick, Mrs. Frost was the daughter of Harry and Ethel Seely of Montreal, Quebec and the sister of the late Catherine Frost and the late Trueman Seely. She was the beloved wife of Roy K. Frost and will be sadly missed by her step daughters and nieces, Heather Reynolds and Madeleine Mocon of Marmora as well as her eight grandchildren. Mrs. Frost was a retired executive of the British Titanium Corp of Montreal, Quebec and was a member of several organizations including the A.C.W., and the Red Cross Foot Clinic. Mrs. Frost also held the position of Secretary of the Cemetery Board. A funeral was held on December 4 at the McConnell Funeral Home in Marmora with Rev. Gordon Walls of St. Paul's Anglican Church officiating. Pallbearers for the service were grandsons Scott Mocon. Christopher Mocon. Dale Reynolds, grandsons in-law Larry Howarth, Dimitri Milionis and dear friend Wilf Terrion. Honorary Pallbearers were sons-in-law Richard Mocon and David Reynolds. MRS. KATHARINE FRY

Death came very unexpectedly last Friday morning to Mrs. Katherine Fry, who passed her 76th birthday the first of this month. The deceased was a daughter of the late John and Mary Dingman and was born in Napanee and spent her early life there. About fifty years ago she was married to Willis Fry who predeceased her in January 1924. From the time of her marriage, she had lived almost continuously in Marmora and no other place was quite the same to her as her home near the east end of Madoc Street. Last August Mrs. Fry underwent an operation for appendicitis and she afterwards lived with her daughter, Mrs. Kennedy, at Havelock until a month or two ago. She was around as usual Thursday, but became ill during the day and passed away early Friday morning. She was of a very quiet disposition, industrious, friendly and a good neighbour. Mrs. Fry is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. Kennedy, of Havelock, and Mrs. A. Hawk, of Aurora, N.Y , and one son, Stewart, of Niagara Falls. Two sons, Fred and John, were killed in action during the Great War. She is also survived by two brothers, William and John Dingman, of Belleville. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, service being conducted in St. Andrew's United Church by Rev. C. W. Hollingsworth, after which interment took place in Marmora Protestant cemetery. Members of Marmora Post No. 237, Canadian Legion, attended in a body and a token of respect to the mother of two comrades, who fell in battle. The pall bearers were Messrs. W. R. Linn, T. E. Potts, C. Nayler, R. T Warren, R. O'Connor and J. Burns.
