MISS WILLIAMS’ CLASS ACTIVITIES 8st June to 12th June 2020 This week our class activities are based on Wallace and Gromit. Here are the activities that you should complete this week. Email your work/photographs of your work (please use your Hwb Email Account) to [email protected] You can send them at the end of each day once they’re completed or on a Friday if it’s easier. I look forward to seeing how you’re getting on! Monday: Wallace and Gromit is a clay animation series created by Nick Park. The program focuses on an eccentric, cheese-loving inventor named Wallace and his pet dog Gromit, who is his best friend. It was one of my favourite programmes as a child! Watch the Top 10 Wallace and Gromit Moments on YouTube for some ideas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l51QDST7xrI Make a cartoon strip/story board based on Wallace and Gromit. It could be about them going on holiday or Wallace making a new invention, anything you like! Spelling – How many words can you make from Wallace and Gromit? Eg lace, all. Which word has the most letters? Tuesday: Find out what breed of dog Gromit is. Make a fact file about this breed of dog. Draw a picture to go with your fact file. If someone was to get a new pet dog (you may have one yourself), what advice would you give on how to look after their new dog? Display your advice in your own way eg poster, leaflet, written explanation. Wednesday: Design / draw a new clay character to go with Wallace and Gromit. Write about your character. What is the new character’s name? Is it funny, cool, crazy, cute..? How does your character behave? Does it get along with Gromit? Thursday: Inventions – find out when these things were invented. Place them on a time-line of chronological order or you could draw a flow chart to show the order of which they were invented in (you choose). You could add pictures. Telephone, post box, internet, electric light, first petrol car, Morse code, bicycle, mobile phone, email, train, lawn mower and sewing machine. Invent a new kitchen gadget for children. Design and draw an everyday kitchen gadget to look great to children of your age, and to encourage them to cook or help out more in the kitchen. Friday: Wallace’s favourite food is cheese (Wensleydale Cheese). Research some recipes that contain cheese eg cheesecake, Welsh rarebit. Choose one that you like and write the instructions of how to make it. Remember to include the ingredients, equipment and method. Add some pictures/diagrams to help assist your instructions. New product – Imagine a company is going to make packets of cheese Wallace and Gromit biscuits. Invent a name and draw a logo for the new product. Make sure it doesn’t already exist. You could research the logos for biscuit packaging. Other ideas: If you have FlipaClip or an app on your tablet/iPad/ phone, make your own animation. Make a character out of play dough to go with the Wallace and Gromit series. Maths on Google Classroom. Don’t forget: Practise those TIMES TABLES over and over again. Do some reading. Practise your handwriting. Try to do some daily exercise. Enjoy your learning! Stay safe everyone. Hope to see you soon. Miss Williams x .
