RULES - Entries Close August 1st

1. All the general rules, previously listed, apply to Needlework & Stitichery, Please read them carefully. 2. The name of the maker or initials should not appear on the article. It must be removed or completely covered with tape or cloth. 3. ENTRIES: Put name of article on YOUR claim check stub. DO NOT SEPARATE CLAIM CHECK STUB. This will be done for you on Entry Day. 4. Only needlework and stitched articles may be entered in Department C, NOTHING GLUED, INCLUDING ALL ACCESSORIES. 5. Framed articles are measured inside the frame or if matted, from inside the mat. 6. Wall hangings MUST be equipped WITH proper hanging device, or rod sleeve. 7. When rods are necessary for wall hangings, hooked pieces, they must be firmly secured to the article so they do not out. 8. Any needlework pieces may be unframed. 9. We welcome and encourage all needle-workers to participate in our competition. All entries are considered for Theme. 10. For Lion Brand sponsored knit or scarves, use of Lion Brand Yarn is required. Yarn color is to be selected by the entrant.Yarn Wrapper must be included with the entries submitted. No Exceptions. Patterns are reprinted with permission from Lion Brand Yarn. 11. People’s Choice Awards will be given daily. Please vote for your favorite. 12. Attention Quilters. Please note pattern. If your quilt has been professionally quilted, please put on your tag and on the back of your quilt, the name of the professional quilter. This only applies to professionally quilted classes that have been entered. 13. All items submitted must be completed within the last 12 months. All items should be clean and free of stains or odors. 14. For all STEAM Entry Classes include a 3x5 card explaining what about the item makes it a STEAM item, as well as the challenge of the project. Remember no glue on the item. 15. **SPECIAL** The year 2020 will mark the 175th anniversary of the Dutchess County Fair. To commemorate this occasion we would like to create an anniversary quilt celebrating the Fair’s rich history and featuring the creative talents of quilters and needle workers throughout Dutchess and adjacent counties. Please make a 10.5” x 10.5” Quilt square block that represents the 2020 Dutchess County Fair theme “Past & Present’. Please be creative. Classes are open to Professionals. All blocks will become property of the Dutchess County Fair and will be used to create a commemorative quilt. 16. Apron based on theme "Past & Present". Think retro fabrics, trims or as well as historic or classic pattern styles. Maybe something your grandmother might wear. Remember no glue and have fun with it!

GLOVE MONSTER from craftaholicsanonymous.

Supplies: Glove, Filling: batting/fiberfill, Balls or Shopping bags cut into thin strips, needle/, , felt, etc for embellishing

Directions: ● Turn the glove inside out and sew a U-shape from the top of the thumb hole to the other side of the glove leaving a 1″ hole at the center top. ● Turn the glove right side out. ● Tuck the cuff inside. ● Stuff with filling, making sure to get filling to the end of each of the 4 fingers. It takes only a couple handfuls of batting. ● Hand the 1″ hole shut. ● Cut facial features out of felt and hand stitch felt, buttons, etc in place. (Do not use embellishments for kids under 3 years old, if they came loose, they could present a choking hazard.) ● Remember: No Glue, Have Fun and Be Creative! SEWN FELT CARROTS

Photo From: laurascraftylife.com Supplies needed: Orange felt, Green felt, Thread or Floss, Needle, , Fiberfill or cotton batting (optional) and optional embellishments (buttons, beads, ric-rac, embroidery floss, yarn) to sew on. Carrot template, use the drawing above. Directions: ● Cut out 2 carrots from the orange felt using the template provided. ● Cut 3 strips (leaves) from the green felt using the template provided. ● Stitch the green felt in place with a few stitches, to the inside top (shortest side) of one of the carrots. ● Then place the other carrot on top, making a sandwich with the green felt leaves in the middle. Pin if you wish. ● Make small running stitches all around the edge of the orange carrot. ● Now decorate with your embellishments. ● Remember: No Glue, Have Fun and Be Creative! SEWN FELT RAINBOW

Use rainbow template on this page Directions: ● Cut out half circle pieces according to the templates provided above. One of each color. ● Place the purple felt arch piece onto the blue felt arch piece lining up the flat side of each piece. Pin in place. Stitch the purple felt onto the blue felt piece along the curved side. Sew through 2 layers of felt making small running stitches all along the curved edge. ● Then place the blue and purple felt arch pieces onto the green felt arch piece lining up the flat sides of each piece. Pin in place. Stitch the blue felt onto the green felt piece along the curved side. Sew through 2 layers of felt making small running stitches all along the curved edge. ● Then place the green, blue and purple felt arch pieces onto the yellow felt arch piece lining up the flat sides of each piece. Skirt Anniversary Quilt Block - 175th Dutchess County Fair – Any Age Only One entry per Person Classes are open to Professionals as well The 2020 Anniversary Quilt Block Challenge: Create a quilt block using needlework techniques, fabrics and embellishments of your choosing. Blocks may be fabric pieced, applique, crewel, cross stitch, embroidery, etc. Finished blocks must be 10 1/2 “ x 10 ½”. The block should reflect the 2020 fair theme: “Past & Present”. As with all Needlework & Stitchery entries – no glue is permitted. Each block must include a 3x5 car d explaining what aspect of the fair inspired your creation. Blocks will be judged on creativity, theme and degree of difficulty. All blocks will become property of the Dutchess County Fair and will be used to create a commemorative quilt. See rule 17 above.
