Son expérience avec les enfants et le fait d’être un auteur- compositeur- interprète lui ont permis d’écrire des chansons pour jeune public (bientôt sur CD ). Il a aussi produit et réalisé plus de dix titres pour l’émission Mini TFO comme: Les bobos, Le plus petit, Les couleurs primaires, Quand c’est l’été, La valse de l’automne, etc. (Voir You tube Mini TFO).On dit de ses prestations qu’elles sont vivantes, engageantes pour l’auditoire et, interactives. Monsieur Philippe, originally from France, has been playing his guitar and his songs for +10 years in the French schools, and French and English preschools in Toronto. Philippe’s experience with children and his ability as a singer songwriter has permitted him to write and sing songs to a young audience (CD soon to be released). Philippe has also published and produced more than 10 songs for the TV show mini TFO : Les bobos, Le plus petit, Les couleurs primaires, Quand c’est l’été, La valse de l’automne, etc...(See YouTube Mini TFO). Audiences say his shows are lively, engaging and interactive. 3 Synopsis/ Résumé The Great Adventure of M. Philippe M. Philippe and his guitar will take you on a voyage with traditional songs from both France and Canada. His suitcase is full of accessories, musical instruments, knick-knacks, drawings, etc., which permit students to participate and understand the songs while having fun. On this voyage we will meet all kinds of interesting people and things: animals- big and small, plants and funny people. (Show is seasonally adaptive). Le Voyage De Monsieur Philippe Monsieur Philippe et sa guitare vous emmènent en voyage avec des chansons traditionnelles de France et du Canada. Sa valise est remplie d’accessoires, d’instruments de musique, de bibelots, de gravures, etc.… qui permettront aux élèves de participer et de comprendre les chansons tout en s’amusant. Dans ce voyage nous rencontrerons toutes sortes de choses, des animaux gros et petits, des végétaux et des gens rigolos (show adaptable aux saisons). 4 Instruments /Instruments Guitar/ Guitare: (Source Wikapedia) The guitar is a popular musical instrument classified as a string instrument with anywhere from 4 to 18 strings, usually having 6. The sound is projected either acoustically or through electrical amplification (for an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar, respectively). It is typically played by strumming or plucking the strings with the right hand while fretting (or pressing against the fret) the strings with the left hand. La guitare est un instrument à cordes pincées. The tone and volume of the instrument varies with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes, each with its own ‘voice’: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. Players hold them by their handles, usually in pairs, and shake them. Traditional maracas consist of hollow balls made from dried gourd shell or coconut shell filled with seeds or dried beans and mounted on a wooden handle. Modern maraca balls are also made of leather, wood, or plastic. Les maracas1 sont des instruments de percussion de la famille des idiophones, créés par les Indiens d'Amérique (centrale) Taïno ou Arawak. 6 Instruments /Instruments Spoons/ Cuillères : (Source Wikapedia) Spoons can be played as a makeshift percussion instrument, or more specifically, an idiophone related to the castanets. A pair of spoons is held tight with concave sides facing out and with index finger between their handles to space them apart. When the pair is struck, the spoons sharply hit each other and then spring back to their original position. The spoons are typically struck against the knee and the palm of the hand. The fingers and other body parts may also be used as striking surfaces to produce different sounds, rhythms, and visual effects. In Canada, the spoons accompany fiddle playing in Québecois and Acadian music. Also, Newfoundland and the Atlantic Provinces popularly play the spoons at family gatherings. Playing the spoons is rarely seen in Western Canada. The great American- Armenian drummer, now in his 74th year, is currently at a creative peak, and his trio, launched in 1984 with the ECM album "It Should Have Happened A Long Time Ago", has never sounded better. Motian, of course, has continued to be an important contributor to ECM recordings over the years -- see for instance his recent work with Marilyn Crispell and with Paul Bley - but hasn't recorded as a leader for the label in almost 20 years. His anthology in ECM’s Rarum series, however, released at the beginning of 2004, served as a powerful reminder of just how original his musical concept remains. As a drummer, improviser, composer of intensely lyrical melodies, and musical thinker, Paul Motian is a unique figure, and a musician of vast and varied experience. Partial Portraits of James the Traveller Cornelius CROWLEY CREA (EA 370), Université Paris Nanterre Abstract:The aim of the article is to offer a less solemn and less frontal perspective on the Jamesian opus by way of his travel writing, a practice inevitably seasonal and occasional: the jottings of a tourist or traveller. There emerges a renewed sense of the Jamesian relation to the world, to time and to place, in terms of the responsiveness to things seen. Experience is an affair of circumstance and chance, art an adjustment to and an honouring in words of the occasionality of life, travel in time. Key words: Henry James, expatriation, travel, travail, occasional writing Résumé : L’objet de l’article est d’offrir une perspective moins frontale sur l’œuvre de James, en partant des écrits suscités par sa pratique du voyage. France and French identity have been mapped into a series of imagined exclusionary spaces through media representations and political rhetoric. This dissertation argues that artists in the fields of film, rap music and fiction are actively yet often indirectly intervening in French identity debates by reframing the question of “integration” and by demonstrating that not only can one be simultaneously French and “other,” but that French identity is always already more complex and transnational than prevailing discourses of “imagined” identity will admit.
