AUDIO REQUIREMENTS

FOH PA SYSTEM

- PA system of the size and capacity to completely cover the venue and capable to produce a clean SPL level of 108 dB/A from 20 Hz to 20 kHz A-weighted and slow response at the FOH mix position. - Preferred systems are: ADAMSON, d & b, L Acoustics, MEYER or EAW - ***ALL FOH PA PROCESSING MUST BE AT THE FOH MIX POSITION AND ACCESSIBLE TO DOKKEN’S FOH ENGINEER. THIS IS NON NEGOTIABLE*** If local restrictions or regulations are in place, DOKKEN’s management, tour- and production management need to be informed in advance with copy of the legal document requiring these restrictions or limitations. Measurements can only be accepted if professional equipment (Radio Shack type 40.--$ non calibrated DB meter will not be accepted) is used for this and measurement type is LEQ Type (measurement over entire show time). System needs to be calibrated with legit calibrator in presence of DOKKEN’s FOH engineer. Artists’ production manager shall determine number of boxes to ensure adequate & proper coverage of all audience areas. The system has to be totally hum and buzz-free and properly grounded for maximum safety of artists and crew working on stage! Please send us detailed house specs or a complete equipment list from your vendor (feel free to pass our e-mail address over for direct contact) or the vendors contact details.

FOH Console:

If digital: Digidesign/AVID Profile or SC48, S3L If analog: MIDAS H3000, 2000, XL4, YAMAHA PM 4000, PM 5000 Analog console requires outboard gear. For number of necessary noise gates, compressors, reverbs, delays and graphic equalizers please refer to the attached input list.

MON Console:

DOKKEN does not travel with monitor engineer. We will require a local monitor tech to assist, therefore the choice of console is up to this person. The console needs to have at least 12 pre fade monitor sends, 32 input channels. Reverb is needed for the IEM mixes. DOKKEN will require 2 SENNHEISER IEM systems, set up for stereo mixes (please refer to stage plot attached).

A short guideline for the individual mixes (for number of wedges, side fills please refer to stage plot) to help with a starting point:

In Ear mix Don: Dominating lead vox, moderate mix of both backing vocals, a bit of guitar, a bit of ambience, a bit of vocal reverb

In Ear mix Mark: Dominating bass and SR vox, solid Kick, SN, Hat, a bit of guitar and lead vox

Side fills: Kick, SN, Hats at moderate levels and without excessive low end, dominating lead vocal, a bit of backing vocals. Guitar on SR, a bit of bass on stage left if stage.

Drum fill: Dominating drum vocal and kick (once again, no boomy stuff, please), SR backing vocal (important for harmonies), a bit of guitar, bass and lead vocal

SR mix: Dominating SR vocal, drum vocal (for harmonies), a solid kick, snare and hat, a bit of guitar

SL mix: a solid kick, snare and hat, a bit of bass, all vocals evenly

Center mix: Dominating lead vocals, both backing vocals at moderate level, a bit of guitar

STAGE & LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS

DOKKEN requires a clean, even stage, and free of any obstacles, unnecessary house gear, dimmer racks or other obtrusions on arrival with the following dimensions:

Width: minimum 30’ Depth: minimum: 18’ Height: minimum 3’ Minimum clearance: 16’ Please provide pipe for 30’x24’ backdrop

Solid and capable of carrying weight of 500kg/m2. Please send us your exact measurements to review. Sides and back of the stage to be draped black, no advertisements, logos in the immediate stage area! One drum riser 8’x8’x2’, carpeted and skirted black.

For safety reasons we recommend professional blow-through type barricades in front of the stage and around the FOH position. NO AUDIENCE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SPEAKERS. **NO EXCEPTIONS**

As we do not travel with our own LD on most fly dates, we do not specify the lighting, but expect a fully functioning house lighting rig with adequate front light. We will require the service of a local lighting tech, familiar with the type of music. Nothing flashy, but with a theatrical approach Artists should be clearly visible, except in black outs between songs (no smoke machines, water based hazers are fine).
