Rural X-Ray / Lab Cross- Training • Permanent hires at smaller rural facilities will be cross-trained in laboratory skills (and vice versa - Lab/X-Ray) • Larger rural sites such as Selkirk, Thompson, Boundary Trails are not included in the cross-training process • Cross training is a six month course consisting of theory at RRC and practical training usually at the site of hire • MRT’s will be competent to work in both lab and x-ray as well as work independently on call in the off hours on site • Some technologists train at multiple sites depending on volume and location Rural Opportunities Continued
• Brandon is a large site with MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Ultrasound, Echo Cardiography, Bone density, CT, General duty x-ray. • It is recommended that students apply to positions at rural sites before graduation Additional Opportunities
