Question for Written Answer Question for written answer E-001898/2021 to the Commission Rule 138 Anna Bonfrisco (ID), Marco Campomenosi (ID), Massimo Casanova (ID), Paolo Borchia (ID), Luisa Regimenti (ID), Lucia Vuolo (ID) Subject: Unequal treatment of ITA compared to Lufthansa and Air France-KLM The COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll on European air transport, prompting several countries to grant aid to national airlines, including recapitalisation measures. Italy has decided to set up a new airline – ITA – with an initial public investment based on sustainability. In this respect, the EU Commissioner for Competition has called for the divestiture of about half of the Italian airline's slots at Linate airport, which ITA would acquire from Alitalia in accordance with Article 8a(b)(iii) of Regulation (EEC) No 95/93, on the grounds that this would prevent market distortions. In spite of the fact that other companies, such as Lufthansa and Air France-KLM, have applied for state aid, the conditions for them are different: Air France would give up 6.5 % of its slots at Orly, Lufthansa 3% in Munich and 1.5% in Frankfurt and KLM would give up 3% in Amsterdam. In view of this, can the Commission answer the following questions: 1. Can it clarify the technical and regulatory parameters on which its assessment is based, as regards the slots, and does it not think that these should be supplemented with further data? 2. Does it consider it appropriate for assessments to be carried out on budgets and competitiveness prior to the pandemic? 3. Is it aware that the demands made would deal a severe blow to the new airline, which is already having to implement its new industrial strategy in a difficult market situation in the wake of the pandemic? The activities of the EU legislator do not, in fact, take into account all cases in which sexual abuse is directly consumed online, i.e. where child pornography is provided by the child following the establishment of a relationship of trust between predator and victim. Furthermore, uncontrolled use of the internet can facilitate access to content that is not suitable for children, such as websites that glorify practices relating to anorexia and bulimia, including websites that incite suicide and self-harm. In view of this: 1. Will the Commission collect and study data on online paedophilia in order to promote a child- friendly use of the Web? 2.

  • Ms Mairead Mcguinness European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and the Capital Markets Union Mr
TO: Ms Mairead McGuinness European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and the Capital Markets Union Mr Valdis Dombrovskis European Commission Executive Vice-President for An Economy that Works for People CC: Mr Frans Timmermans European Commission Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal Ms Kadri Simson European Commissioner for Energy Brussels, 13 April 2021 Dear Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis, Dear Commissioner McGuinness, We are convinced that the Taxonomy Regulation is crucial for the European Union to achieve both the new greenhouse gas emissions reduction target for 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050. Additionally, the Regulation should help strengthening the European Union’s strategic resilience and global economic competitiveness, maintaining its energy security and affordability, boosting growth and job creation and supporting a just and inclusive energy transition that leaves nobody behind. However, to what extent the Taxonomy Regulation will ultimately meet these expectations depends primarily on the technical screening criteria (TSC) defined in the Delegated Act on climate change mitigation and adaptation. We understand the European Commission will publish it later this month, whereupon the European Parliament may make full use of its scrutinizing prerogatives under Article 290 TFEU. In advance of its publication, we would like to share with you some of our major concerns regarding the revised draft version of this delegated act. Firstly, it is indispensable that the Taxonomy Regulation takes into account transition at the energy system level and supports the most cost-efficient decarbonisation pathway for each Member State in line with the principle of technology neutrality. In this context, it is key to acknowledge the role of gaseous fuels.
