Dennis Schofield, an independent insurance claims adjuster on the island, spoke to Rotary recently regarding how important it is to read those policies and understand that you must comply with all covenants of that policy if you expect to receive payment for damages. Many insurance companies protect their finan- cial profits by making certain policyhold- ers’ claims are examined with company policy in mind. This usually means send- ing out an insurance adjuster to investi- gate your claim, find out how and when your damage was done, and what your personal responsibility is. Schofield said, “Twenty percent of claims are denied Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy & Pilates because clients don’t comply with the Phone # 239-395-5858 insurance policy contract.” Policy lan- guage is sometimes confusing, maybe by design. A recent case that Schofield worked Administrative Offi ces on regarded the home of an island & Classrooms snowbird. The damage was done when Phone # 239-472-9700 he was not in residence for an extended period of time and the insurance com- pany denied the claim. Why? The insur- ance policy had a 30-day vacancy clause in it and concluded that damage was done during the time the property was vacant for more than 30 days. Schofield and his company challenged that clause by providing records from the property owner’s caretaker regarding the prop- erty and found that the property was not truly vacant according to the policy ruling. Interpretation of policy clauses is tricky. Clauses are written in policy language and unless you know how to read that language, you may not collect denied reimbursement for damages or be given low-ball figures on damages.

In the Island Sun, this one-man show is called, “... a hilarious 90 minutes of laughs and mayhem.” A reviewer for The Fort Myers News-Press writes, “Compton swaps characters with a simple swivel of his stool or a change in posture, and he uses an arsenal of funny accents and facial expressions to great effect. All with dead-on comedic timing and a boundless energy (his Latino chef and his little old lady in a wheelchair are par- ticularly hilarious).” A Naples News reviewer raves, “Trey Compton (so delightful to watch on stage) makes 90 minutes disappear in a flash,” and adds, “his electric stage presence allows him to transform into dozens of characters.” Local theater fans will remember Compton, who not only wowed audiences as Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels but also played a plethora of characters in the Herb Strauss Theater’s production of Das Barbecü. In 2013, he received glow- ing reviews for his many comedic roles in Spamalot at the Strauss. Compton’s New York and regional theater credits include the Emmy Award-winning Passion: Live at Lincoln Center (starring Patti LuPone), Like You Like It, Altar Boyz, Little Shop of Horrors, Stones in his Pockets, Legally Blonde and the world premiere of the musi- cal Love Incorporated.
