Odlum Brown VanOpen Alumni Sweep Wimbledon Titles. A Stellar Men's Playing Field Is Announced!

Each year alumni of the Odlum Brown VanOpen add prestigious titles to their resumes, and so far this summer is no different with and winning the singles titles at Wimbledon. As we prepare for our 12th year, we are very excited to see "who is next" in our 2013 field of players.

The men's field has been released and contains a large depth of level experienced players from around the globe. It is a superb representation of international talent with players from Canada, the United States, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Israel, South Africa, Great Britain, and Russia already committed.

Vernon-born returns to the tournament where he played his first professional match at the age of 15. He was a semifinalist here in 2011 and most recently reached the second round at Wimbledon. Pospisil helped Canada’s team defeat Italy in the quarterfinals this past April and will face Serbia in the semifinals in September for a spot in the World Group Final.

Evgeny Donsky of Russia is currently set to be the event’s top seed with a world #65 ranking. Donsky is having a strong year, having reached the second round at the and the third round at the thus far. He also topped world No. 19 and pushed 2013 Wimbledon men’s champion Andy Murray to three sets in the 1000 event in March.

Germany’s is a veteran of 23 Grand Slam tournaments and has the acclaim of defeating in his final match at the 2006 U.S. Open. Becker’s been ranked as high as No. 38 in the world and during his career has victories over perennial world top 10’s such as Tomas Berdych and Stanislas Wawrinka as well as former world No. 1 ranked players and . In June, he topped world No. 24 .

Despite being one of the shortest players on the ATP World Tour at 5’6”, Belgian is one of the fastest court movers in the world and a fan favourite everywhere he goes. The Doubles winner has competed in 48 Grand Slam events during his 13 year pro career and has been ranked as high as No. 24. The 32-year-old was ranked in the Top 100 for the second straight season in 2012. It was the ninth time in the last 11 years he’s been ranked in the Top 100. His resume includes victories over top world players such as Robin Soderling, and current World No. 1 .

Get involved and enjoy the perks of being a part of the 2013 volunteer team! There are many volunteer positions available and we want to hear from YOU! The positions needing to be filled range from Drivers, Airport Hosts, Court Concierge, Ticketing, Greeters, Players Lounge, Volunteer Check-In Desk, Office Administration, Tournament Assistants, Operations Assistants and Security. Our enthusiastic volunteers are a key component to the resounding success of the Odlum Brown VanOpen.

Ball Boys & Ball Girls Needed Our dedicated and enthusiastic Ball Crew are a key component to the resounding success of this event and we want to hear from YOU! Applicants must be between 9 and 18 years of age on July 1, 2013. All Ball Boys and Ball Girls will receive official Ball Boy/Girl shirt and will be well hydrated and made sure they have sunscreen before heading onto court. They will receive training in advance of the event at times to be announced. All Ball Boys/Girls will have a grounds pass to watch the event.

We’ll be providing a complimentary bus service to the event in the morning and late afternoon which will run from the West-side clubs, to downtown Vancouver, Park Royal and Hollyburn Country Club. So leave your cars at home (or at the Club) and come enjoy the fine food, Beringer Wine and Mill St Beer on offer at Hollyburn.

Team Up With Tennis Professionals In The Pro-Am! This one-of-a-kind opportunity allows everyday tennis enthusiasts to team up with world class professional tennis players. The Odlum Brown VanOpen Pro-Am will be held Sunday, July 28th, 4pm at Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver. The Pro- Am will be followed by dinner at the club at a total cost of $350/person. Bring a guest to the Pro-Am dinner for $50. Minimum level of play is 3.5.
